Hi - I have had a Thermomix for over 5 years now and it is still being used routinely. I purchased it just after my daughter developed Type 1 Diabetes at age 11. It has been a great way to reduce processed foods and now my kids are getting older - it has become an easy (clean) way for them to contribute to our meals and also keep themselves fed during school hols whilst I am working.
I joined the forum because I had my first glitch yesterday and found a thread on your site - which I will post under, that helped me out. I managed to fix the problem and save myself some $$ and hassel.

Megs thanks for joining. So glad we could help you out. With 5 years experience with the Thermothingy you are one of the most experienced . Also with dealing with a diabetic DD going through the trauma of Diabeties and specially at that age you are well placed to help out other members of this forum.
Welcome welcome and welcome.

Hello and welcome Mega - look forward to seeing more postings from you, after 5 years of owning a TM you could probably teach some of us a thing or two!! :D
-
Thanks guys - yes still pasionate too!
It has been very interesting seeing the "spread" of the TM over the years - I remember getting excited when my beloved TM was first used on Masterchef for a fleeting moment! Many of the critics early on have ended up purchasing. I still get asked whether I still use the TM or not even after all this time! At the end of the day though - you have to be interested in health and ease in the kitchen to get the most out of the TM and not mind the cost. I didnt have heaps of other kitchen gadgets that I have already spent money on so I still feel the investment I made those years ago was well worth it - I also feel that you ultimately get what you pay for, and after fixing my TM the other day my little wave of dissapointment flew out the window - mind you I think 5 years without a hitch is still pretty good, and was prepared to spend a little if it had needed it. I had two other work friends purchase at the same time in my town, and theirs are still going strond too.

Hi Megs and welcome to the forum. Initially I thought there would not be a lot we can teach someone who has had a TMX for that long and it was interesting to see you did find something helpful (not been over there yet to see what it was) but when you think about it, the collective experience of this group often does teach us something we didn't know. The sharing and caring group we have here is unbelievable and now you've joined, you will see that for yourself as you browse the forum.
From time to time we all have little glitches as our machines age but we know that anything can be fixed. I have just bought my DD and her friend replacement lid seals - they both bought their machines when I did, 5 years ago this coming October and neither of them had replaced it yet. They probably wondered why it leaked at times :-))
Are your work friends members of this forum? Please do recommend they join, the more the merrier.
