That's probably my fault Hally as I am on holidays and suggested to Cookie that we catch up for a coffee, we then decided to invite anyone that wanted to join us.

No sleep & a headache.

Why bother Hally. Not your mothers stuff and you will get all the angst. Let them do it themselves. Who needs the stress?

Your even more right, cant win either way.

Will have to get a credit for our flights, bet the airlines take a huge chunk. Dh has to go to sign up a real estate agent.
Title: Re: Coffee anyone? Perth
Post by: judydawn on July 08, 2013, 01:47:27 am
No they don't take too much Hally and you will have 12 months to use the credit.  I'm sure you will need to have another holiday in the next 12 months.  I didn't lose too much with Virgin when I cancelled the retreat in WA last year and I then used my credit for flights over to Chookie's lunch for CC so that was a little bonus.

You know my thoughts on going over to Melbourne to hostile in-laws, you would be walking into something that will only end in tears and an irreversible family break-up.  I could never put myself through that.

Will I be creating more problems by not going, might do thurs-sun, still thinking.

Booked singapore for next easter :) but airline credit is good :)

How can you create more problems than there already are Hally?  You could speak to one of the sisters and ask her if she'd mind if you didn't go over to help.
Title: Re: Coffee anyone? Perth
Post by: Halex on July 08, 2013, 01:57:01 am
Good plan JD.

The problem is they dont talk to each other. One sister went to another sisters last night to talk & bitch about my dh & then they rang him, one was telling him what she thought the other yelling rudely from a distance!!

Somehow I don't think you're going to achieve a thing by going and trying to help, Hally.  Guilt trips are self inflicted atrocities - so don't even go there!! - (and, in any case, these should only be felt by those who are doing the wrong thing.)  I'd be simply saying family commitments are keeping you where you are - Let them fight it out between themselves. I think it would be a bit like standing in the middle of the road and then wondering how come you got hit by the oncoming traffic . . . .  What does DH think about it all?
Title: Re: Coffee anyone? Perth
Post by: Halex on July 08, 2013, 02:09:12 am
Dh lost it last night & is handing as much he can over to the solicitor. He just wants to get the house ready for sale before we leave on our 8 week trip.  Forget it & hope it sells while we are overseas.

Then they can take what they want & he will get a house clearer in.

He says I am to do whatever makes me happy. :)

Dh just emailed me he wants me there thur-sun with him, so i need to change cp & my flights.

Maybe I could go shopping ;D

Just noticed a sign on our main road saying the trains arent running on Monday.
I am thinking it may be chaos for me getting to Ikea. Saying that i am going to try and will text if the traffic is too bad.
Just a heads up.  I will be very dissapointed if i cant get there.
Title: Re: Coffee anyone? Perth
Post by: Mama Fergie on July 12, 2013, 04:07:39 am
The traffic will be bad Bedlam as everyone going to Perth will have no choice but to drive.
Hopefully you will make it.
I am babysitting one GK that I know of at the moment but maybe a few more so will need to bring her/them with me.
I have a sore  throat and cold so will see how that goes as I don't want to pass it on to anyone. >:(

There is a lot going around at the moment bug wise and areoplanes spread it so well.
Unfortunately i will probably be in the thick of ithe traffic but really want to meet you before Adelaide and an opportunity to meet some others,to good to pass up.
I need some bottles for my goodie bag gift and thought ikea may  have some.
My eldest DD will come for the ride and a chat so the jam shouldn't upset us too much.

Hopefully you won't find the traffic too bad Bedlam.
MF get well quickly.

DD usually goes to work by train. We have been having a laugh at things that have been suggested like work from home, ( utterly impossible when you work with people), arrange with the boss to start and finish at different times, ( I don't think it is possible with many jobs).
The most stupid thing is that the Perth two football teams play each other this weekend. So they will have supporters of both teams unable to use the trains which is the most popular way to get there.
Title: Re: Coffee anyone? Perth
Post by: Mama Fergie on July 12, 2013, 08:25:45 am
 I agree Cookie .
You would think that they would have realised the footy teams were playing each other this weekend and scheduled the train stoppage on a different date.
No common sense there or with telling people to work from home or change their work hours  ???

Hopefully I will feel better soon. Panadol has helped and will take some more before we go out for dinner with my brother and SIL.
Don't like letting people down at the last minute.

They've done a lot of work on the train system here in Adelaide of late as well and some lines have been close and/or are still closed.  They do run substitute buses though and it seems to work ok.

Yes they are doing the same here Katie.
We are even having a special ferry running from Fremantle to Perth. I don't know why they can't do that all the time.

If I am late on Monday ladies I will be there. I'm allowing about 3/4 hour so I should be fine.

It was lovely to meet you ladies today - Cookie, Jen, Creampuff, Meagan, Mama Fergie and Bedlam :)

We had a good time chatting away. DS11 said to me later, "Women like to chat, mummy. You do it at school, and even at Ikea" ;D

Will let MF post the photo.

Lovely to catch up with all of you lovely ladies. Especially BZB who we met for the first time, lovely to meet you and your boys.
Have fun in Adelaide MF and Bedlam, I'll be thinking of you.

I have not been on the alcohol in the photo, probably just pausing for a breath before I chat some more.

Lovely photo of the girls enjoying themselves, thanks for reducing it Gretchen.   So, 2 faces I haven't seen before ie BZB and Bedlam which is great because now us Adelaide girls know what you look like before you get here.  Actually I thought it was Yvette to start with, is it just me or is there a similarity there?  Bright eyed toddler you have there MF and poor Cookie, having a nana nap during the photo call.  Good thing they took the second photo  ;D  It's great to see these get togethers still happening after all this time and new faces being added along the way.

It's great to see the face behind the flower, cookie :)

Sorry that we had to leave in a huff. The boys had to go urgently. Very typical of them, not to give any warning...and gave me distress calls when they were almost bursting ;D

Totally agreed, cookie. MF's little one and Meagan's boys were all very good. I was surprised that the baby could last that long. Must be MF's magic :)

I felt quite comfortable chit chatting with such a warm and delightful group of ladies. Wish we had more time for me to ask more TMX questions. Hahaha.

When we first started having these meet ups around Australia BZB, the main topic of interest was the Thermomix but as the years have gone by I find we rarely talk about it now.  We do talk about the new books or recipes from the forum but we are all old friends now and the conversation can go anywhere  :D

JD, I'm such an obvious newbie to the cult of Thermomix. I want to talk about it ALL the time. But none of my friends can relate ;D

We know that feeling BZB, that's why we go on this forum  ;D you can talk until you are blue in the face about the TM and no one thinks you are a nutter or just trying to sell a machine. Next time just bring up the subject and we'll all join in.
