Well my TM arrives this afternoon. I was a tad jealous as my daughter got hers on Sunday but I couldn't take delivery that day unfortunately. So I have been hearing what she has been making with envy. The bench is cear and ready for its arrival. I am even taking a day off work to play on Thursday , a bit naughty I know but hey it is worth it. I will let you know what I think in the next few days. Wish me luck.
-
;D what r u going to make 1st KK ;D
-
Well the veggie stock but thought bread and maybe a dessert tonight. I am sure I will be playing heaps tonight, can't wait!
-
Welcome to the forum keeki. Have fun with your TMX :)
-
have fun Keeki and remember there is a learning curve so if a few things don't work out at first don't get disheartened.
-
Hooray! How exciting!
I agree with Wonder - there is definitely an adjustment period learning to cook a new way. I had a few fails, and then stuck to recipes from the cookbook and on here for a while before I was ready to experiment converting my own recipes to tmx. But it was all good fun, and mostly edible! ;)
-
Oh how exciting for you keeki. I am sure you are going to have lots of fun and if your daughter already has her TMX - lots of fun together swapping recipes and ideas. My friend and I both bought our TMX at the same time and she brought hers along to my house - we sat and drank champagne while the boys made Creamy Garlic prawn Risotto for eight of us (the recipe from here on the Forum). My DH certainly does not know his way around the kitchen but even he managed to do this with the TMX - a bit like painting by numbers.
Looking forward to hearing of your successes (and do share the disasters too - you will be surprised by the number of people who will tell you that they have done the same thing or even worse). Enjoy.
-
Hi and welcome
-
Keeki have fun.
-
Welcome keeki....so is it here yet???
How exciting for you, the veggie stock concentrate is great to have on hand, so good to make as a delivery demo with your consultant. Even though your daughter got hers already, she may be able to give you some handy tips ;)
Have fun this arvo and let us know how you went
-
Oh how exciting Keeki. Can't wait to read about your cooking. Enjoy.
-
Have fun with your TM Keeki :)
-
hello and welcome keeki, enjoy your new toy! :) :)
-
Hi Keeki,
I am jealous, I need to wait till Monday. I have also booked a day off work. I think the delivery of a new member of the family warrants a day off 8)
-
I agree with you both. It is important that you welcome and become acquainted with the new family member.
-
Ok, so raced home from work and the TM consultant was here already. I felt a bit rushed but it wasn't her fault as I hit the ground running. I attempted rough puff pastry from the book. But alas it was so hard to work with and it was a disaster! My pantry was a bit depleted so I wasn't TM ready. We resorted to boiled eggs which turned out ok but hubby decided on 1 min longer and they were a little hard. We just laughed as it was an e pensive egg boiler!,
-
Last night was better, I made the 5 seeded bread and it was amazing! Very proud I was and I will look at another recipe for puff pastry, there is an iced one in the book. Then I made protein balls which were so easy. I have made them quite regularly in my processor but it has so many parts its a pain to clean. These turned out great too. I am just about to make butter and will try the Beeff Rendang today.
I am prepared for disasters as I can still have them with conventional cooking too! My daughter is cooking up a storm too and already is passing hints my way. What a TM team!
This is such a wonderful forum, thanks for the welcome and reassurance , you guys rock!
-
It's lovely to hear that you are having success and enjoying your cooking in the TM keeki :)
-
Thanks Cornish Cream, I have today off to play! Just me and TM, will keep you posted on the next creation.
-
Welcome to the forum.
-
Yay keeki, you will be up & running in no time!! Sounds like a bit of a hiccup for a start but now good! :D
-
Yes a few hiccups but I have now made Red curry paste and have pumpkin soup on and made butter this morning! I am going to attempt the Beef Rendang recipe from the book, for Sat nights dinner. I think I will make it tomorrow so the flavour can sit for a day. Always better on the 2nd day. So far so good, I will make scones too this afternoon from the buttermilk.
-
Keeki, you have hit the ground running, congratulations.
I'm pleased that you are sharing your adventures with us too. It is such an exciting time when you have a thermomix. Keep cooking up a storm. I laughed about the expensive egg cooker. ;D
-
LOL, way to go keeki! :)
Sounds like you are cooking up a storm after tiny shaky start, I can just see you and your daughter having a fun TM get together.
She might like to join us on here too?
Hope you keep enjoying your new Thermie ;)
-
Sounds like you are doing well keeki. Thought about trying the iced pastry myself but have not got there yet. Keep enjoying.
-
Wow, keeki! No future in expensive egg cookers!! ;D ;D So glad you've been able to replace it with a more versatile machine!! ;D ;D You're off and running now!! Good luck and enjoy all those wonderful things you've been able to rustle up!! :D
-
Well I must say when I sat down to my lunch at work today, I was quite proud of myself. I had homemade soup, bread and even the butter! I am going to make some Red Curry Chicken tomorrow, to go with the Beef Rendang I have also made.
My daughter who has just got her TM has had a bad run as her baby boy hasnt been well. She was right into her TM but it has to take a back seat at the moment. I will cook up a storm and deliver it to them for dinner tomorrow night. Any excuse to cook!
-
well done keeki it certainly does give you an enormous amount of pleasure knowing what is actually in the food we are cooking/eating. I hope your dd's little one is better soon xx
-
Thanks Suzanne, yes it did make a difference knowing that what I was eating was all natural. My d Nicole will be back on track this weekend, but as she is bfeeding she is in demand at the moment. She just loves her TM and it was her talking about it for a year that got rme into it. It's beginning to be a family affair as both my nieces have one too.
-
You can't beat a happy Thermomix family keeki, bet I know what you talk about when you all get together LOL
-
Keeki it all sounds very exciting. I'm glad you have an excuse to cook at the moment.
-
Well I made am amazing dinner for my daughter and hubby. Beef Rendang and Red Chicken curry! It was so authentic although a tad hot but we like it like that. The beef was a bit undercooked I felt but I think the pieces were too big so I will cut them smaller next time. The chicken was perfect and I had made and frozen my paste previously. So easy and not many dishes, my hubby loved it.
-
Exciting news.
-
Welcome to he forum Keeki, I have one DD and two DDI who also have thermys and we are always comparing recipes, taking and sending photos to each other, it's something we can all do together as a family and it's great. Good luck, I'm sure you are going to thoroughly enjoy this experience and the forum is a great place to visit for all sorts of things, I'm always looking at.
-
Thanks Augusta, well I used the Varoma for the first time and made Coconut sweet potato with chicken and Asian greens. I thought the chicken had dried out but it tasted fine. I probably cut it a bit small this time. I used tamari instead of soy sauce also, and didn't put coriander I as hubby doesn't like it.
Wow, what a meal, we also had bread and butter that I had also made. To top it off we had chocolate nut icecream. I used frozen coconut milk, bananas, cacao, agave and a handful of brazil nuts and blended it at full speed. Then put back in freezer, it was amazing! I felt quite chuffed that it was all homemade and my hubby couldn't stop raving about it.
-
Did you use breast meat keeki? Thighs cook up more moist but a lot of people don't like having to spend the time defatting them. You learn from each experience and will get it right in no time. Nice to hear DH is impressed with your cooking.
-
I did use chicken breast but do prefer thighs for that reason JudyDawn. I will persevere , but the chicken was still fine just not to my liking.
