Title: Thermoserver - sale restrictions?
Post by: greengoddess on May 13, 2013, 12:57:58 pm
Sorry if this is not the right sub-forum to post in, but I wasn't sure where was best. I had a query regarding a comment a sales consultant made, and I just want to clarify from you lovely experts!

I am a very happy TMX owner, who lives in Ireland. My sister is in Australia and just bought her own TMX last week after hearing me rave about it for the past 18 months (She nearly went the way of the Bellini Mark 1 and I kept her up to date with the reviews and feedback I found on this forum, so thank you for that!).

Anyway, I had mentioned to her that I really wanted a Thermoserver, as we can't get those here in Ireland, so she said to her consultant that she'd like to order a Thermoserver for me. Her consultant replied that she wasn't sure that she was allowed to sell them to someone overseas. My sister pointed out that she would be selling it to her, but the consultant maintained that she would need to check with her supervisor. My sister has not heard anything since, so I thought I'd post here to see if Thermoservers are so locked down that they cannot be sold with the knowledge that they may leave Australian shores? I know the TMXs themselves are sold under license, but this is a separate product, from what I understand.

Admittedly, the consultant is quite new, so it may be that she's just mixing up the restrictions, but I thought I'd solicit some advice from the forum - so, any suggestions? Does my sister have to resort to subterfuge and black market acquisitions?

GG :)

Oh gosh! Don't go by way of the black market (eBay),  they cost a fortune there! The best way (and only?) is to host a demo here in Australia where you can then buy one for a reduced price.  There are other threads here on the forum where you can see alternatives to the "thermoserver" and many appear to be as good if not better.

Thanks, Jamberie! I didn't really mean actual black market (or even ebay!) - just that my sister would need to lie about who was going to be the end user for the Thermoserver. It just seemed a little ridiculous to me.

But, if there are other similar, cheaper and easily accessible options, that will be enough for me!

Thanks again!

Here's (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=12330.0) a link (with more links with it) that may answer your question GG.

Gosh thermo servers are becoming a hard to acquire commodity.

you could send yours to your sister and then buy yourself another one. ??????
