Just been to the supermarket and DRAGGED myself away from a huge tray of freshly baked doughnuts - sooooo tempting. Couldn't find any recipes for doughnuts here. May I ask if anyone has a TM recipe for doughnuts???? Probably a very dangerous thing to make, but there's nothing like a cup of tea and a fresh doughnut or three, is there?

Hmmm doughnuts ;D
The only recipe I can find is for Baked Doughnuts (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7223.0) by katesjoy.
If you have a doughnut machine Isi posted this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2789.0) recipe.

Dede posted a recipe for Jam Doughnut Muffins (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6769.0) Scroll down and have a look at Maddy's superb photo of the muffins ;)

Many thanks CC. I had found this recipe but fancied making real doughnuts, deep fried, sinful but wonderful.
Oh well, it's probably a good thing that there isn't a recipe for the TM otherwise I might even be making them tonight and that would never do!!!
-
Uh oh!! found this sinful recipe (http://www.thermomix-recipes.com/2011/12/thermomix-doughnut-recipe.html) :D :D :D :D

Wow CC, you have excelled yourself in finding this recipe. Thanks so much. I shall try making half the quantity first and see how it goes - can I eat 10 doughnuts? Hubby doesn't much like doughnuts. Course I can.
What a wonderful website too. Thank you again, you're a marvel.

The jam filled donuts muffins are delicious and well worth making.
They are also quite easy to make.
-
Mmmm, thanks for that. Doughnuts are definately on the menu very soon. Just ordered some fresh yeast to make them, which I am reliably told can be frozen. Will let you know how I get on!

Cornish Cream very kindly found this simple doughnut recipe for me BUT it asks for 50g of dried yeast to 500g of flour. I thought that was a huge amount so decided to buy some fresh yeast to try out this recipe.
However, a quick look in my Mary Berry cookbook shows her using just 1 sachet of dried yeast for 450g flour in her doughnut recipe (which, from memory, I think is just 7g).
May I ask the brilliant brains of this forum to tell me whether using 50g of FRESH yeast to 500g of plain flour sounds OK?
See what a coward I am? I know I should just bite the bullet and try it, but something is telling me to find out more first, as I've never used fresh yeast before. Thanks so much.

Did you use 50g of yeast past94x?
-
Haven't made them yet. I was waiting to see if anyone knew about the huge amount of yeast in the recipe!
-
I have just found another recipe from the wonderful Tenina ;D As we know her recipes are superb I would use it. ;)
Yeasted Dutch Doughnuts (http://tenina.com/2012/03/yeasted-dutch-donuts-thermo-mixer/)
-
All I can say is: If you are trying not to put weight on, DO NOT make this recipe.
These are superb and utterly irrististible. Light, sweet and totally yummy. The ingredients make 15 medium sized doughnuts.
Very many thanks to Tenina for such a wonderfully easy recipe and for such brilliant results and also a big thankyou to Cornish Cream, who brought the recipe to my notice. Thankyou.

They look superb past94x 8)

Oh wow, how good do they look - just don't make them very often past94x.
-
OMG past94x they look divine. I am off to check out the recipe now. It can't be that bad if I only eat one ;)
-
Yes. delicious. must not visit this thread again.
-
They look amazing!
-
Yes, they really are superb. What a fabulous recipe?
I've had to put a few in the freezer now, or I'll eat the lot and be too fat to get out of my kitchen!!!!
Can't imagine how they will like being frozen, but we'll see.

I knew I should have stayed away from this thread.
-
Go on, give them a go. You might put on a few pounds, but......... you'll be a happy bunny!
-
I have printed and just need to find time to make.
-
probably a stupid question but where would I buy fresh yeast?
-
Believe it or not, I asked myself the same question. I eventually bought it on Ebay and am delighted with it. If you buy a bit more than you need - I bought 300grams to start with - it can be stored in the fridge for 2 weeks or frozen for up to a year, so there's no waste. The smell of doughmaking when you have used fresh yeast is wonderful.
-
WOW, must not make must not make must not make must not make must not make must not make
