The other night we went to a barbecue and some of the sweets was 2 jelly stained glass window moulds. It was pieces of coloured jelly all set in a white sort of jelly. I was wondering if anyone has ever made this please? It was set in a tupperware ring mould. My DH loved it and I thought it was rather good too.
Thanks

Oooh I have the tupperware mould :)

What a great idea, I have to make that!
-
Jamberie thank you so much. I wasn't too sure what to call it.
I was shopping this morning and went into a Matchbox store and was able to buy a jelly ring ( like tupperware) for $12.95. Time to get jellying
-
What a great idea I have a silicone cake ring I could use that .
-
It tastes lovely as the jellies are strong.
-
I'm just glad I could help you Cookie! You've given me so much help, it's the least I could do...but I benefit too because now I know they exist ;D
I look forward to the photos :)
-
What a great idea. I'm going to make these for our next BBQ.
-
I plan to do them over Easter. It will be a little warmer then. Jelly weather.
-
What a clever idea. But I don't need a jelly ring to do this do I?

That depends Kimmy -do you want to 'need' one? :D
-
Look forward to the pics cookie.. Looks colourful..was it really jelly like or did the sweetened condensed milk change the texture?? Not sure mine would like it dh and i arent jello fans and not sure re the kids as i have never served it to them.. :)
-
Oh jam I want to need one.....just don't have the room for one. Sadly, it's about the only piece of Tupperware I DON'T own :D
-
I bought my ring mould for $12.95 at Matchbox.
It tastes like rich jelly in a nice white jelly. I think you will have to like jelly to eat it.
-
I've dug out my tupperware jelly mould and I'm all set to make this tomorrow.
I have my 4 coloured jellies setting in the fridge now.
Thanks Cookie for the idea ;D
-
I still haven't made mine yet. I have bought the jellies though. I can't wait to see how it goes Katie. I do plan to make it over Easter.

I took my stained glass jelly to my in-laws today as one of the desserts for Easter lunch. Everyone thought it looked great and wondered how I'd made it. It tasted really nice too!
It was easy to make and it came put of the Tupperware jelly mould easily and in one piece.

Even though DH had seen it at the BBQ he was still impressed. I used 14 g of gelatine powder for the condensed milk part.

Very impressive cookie 8)

Cookie & Katie, they look great!
-
Love it Cookie. :D
-
They look awesome. The kids would love it if I made this.
-
Same mold as Katie's - I threw mine out :-)) Lovely Cookie, I can't wait to try this myself. I know my Mum will love it as much as the grandkids. I do have a silicone mold I've never used so hopefully that will work.
-
Looks great Cookie! Thanks again for telling us all about this.
I used about 20grams of gelatine in my milk jelly.
-
I spent ages trying to work out what an envelope of Knox's gelatine weighted. I was keeping my fingers crossed that it would set.

This comment was made in one of the comments on that blog Cookie.

@AnneTagonist According to David Lebovitz's blog post about gelatin, one envelope of Knox unflavored gelatin is: "One envelope of powdered gelatin (about 1/4 ounce) is about 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 teaspoons" Here is his post: http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2009/04/how-to-use-gelatin/

Thanks Judy. I could have saved myself time. I only looked at the recipe. Katie's photo looked so lovely I have tried fooling around with mine to see if the colours show better. Here goes!

It looks wonderful Cookie ;D
I didn't really know how much gelatine to add to the milk jelly either. I tried looking around on the internet but couldn't find how much the "US envelope" held (but now I know thanks to Judy :D).
I ended up finding "Not Quite Nigella's" recipe which used 3.5 titanium gelatin sheets. I knew a titanium sheet was equivalent to 5 grams of gelatine powder, so I was being very scientific and was going to use 17.5 grams (3.5 x 5) of gelatine. When I made it though I slipped and tipped in a bit more, oops. I too had my fingers crossed that it would set.
-
........and they both did. ( thank goodness)
-
Both of them look amazing girls.
-
I have that jelly mold, got to try this for the kids.
-
You will be amazed at how tasty it is, even for adults.
