Post by: Jillyrose on February 20, 2013, 09:11:32 pm
Well I have had my TM for about 1 month now and my husband and i love it to bits. I bought it more so for health reasons and just love what it can do for us.  I am still having issues with bread making just cant seem to get it right, but I suppose some practice will help.  I dont work anymore due to a disability and this TM has helped me get back into the kitchen again-thankyou. I live near Canberra and have 5 children ( only 2 living at home now!)  Also have 3 grand children with another 2 due in the next month!!  Looking forward to being part of this forum community and getting lots of hints and tips.

Hi jillyrose, welcome to the forum.  Nice to hear DH loves the Thermomix too, some take a little while and lots of delicious food in their stomach to be convinced it was a good buy  ;)  If you've had trouble in the past cooking because of your disability and now the Thermomix has alleviated some of those problems no wonder you are in love with it. Women generally love to cook and to have that taken away from us would be devastating. Enjoy your Thermomix and this forum, stick to the bread and do try the no-fuss recipe - which recipe are you using which isn't working for you?

Welcome Jillyrose and congrats on your new TM.
Ive had mine two months now and have only made a tiny dent in the surface of  all the TM recipes available....we are just so very lucky to have so many to choose from because of the wonderful posters on forums (particularly this one) who are willing to share their successes with others, invaluable for all but particularly new TM owners.....oh and did I mention the support whenever you need it!  :D

I think you will agree wholeheartedly as you spend time on here....the help, support and advice is awesome and one doesn't have to wait very long for someone to come to their aid, that's the beauty of different time zones .... this forum doesn't sleep  ;D

It's so heart warming to read how your Thermie has already proven to be a valuable aid to you in making your time in the kitchen easier, keep enjoying this time and let us know how you go  :)

A very warm welcome, Jillyrose!!  Ahh , , the bread gremlin!  A thought just popped into my head about the story of a tourist in New York City who stopped a gentleman on the street to ask directions to the famed Carnegie Hall.  "Please sir, how can I get to Carnegie Hall?"  The gentleman to whom the question was directed just happened to be an older world famous musician.  He looked intently at the tourist for a moment and replied, "Son!  you need to practise, practise, practise!!"

So it is with bread . . . ;D  So many of us have started out with door stops galore, or gloopy gluey masses . .  However, one day, everything just comes together (so to speak) and voila! There you have an impressive loaf - or rolls!

Have you tried these?  http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4253.0   (No Fuss)

or this one is one our family favourites, too!  http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=9106.0    (Sour Cream Sandwich Loaf)

Good luck - and we look forward to hearing how you're getting on!

Welcome Jillyrose. I am so glad the thermomix has got you back into the kitchen. What bread have you tried making? I would have to say that bread making has become my favourite thing to do in the thermomix. At the moment I have a sourdough loaf rising. For our daily family bread I always use Chookie 's No Fuss recipe that others have given you the link to. You can use part wholemeal or rye with this recipe and add what ever seeds you like.

hello jilly, you finally made it to the forum. Jillyrose is making gluten free bread. Whilst I am no expert I can have a go with you next week if you like. What is the problem you are having? The ladies here are amazing as I told you. I am sure they could get to the bottom of it.

Hello jillyrose and welcome. Great advice GF and humour.
Try chookies no fuss bread rolls. They work everytime. I also find great success with heating cold tap temp water in tmx first for 2min at 37c (a tip I picked up from the taste if asia class). Then add flour, yeast, etc. I also let my dough rise in the TM bowl with lid and mc on. Good luck you will succeed :)

Welcome Jillyrose.  GF bread can be difficult to get a good loaf.  I converted one of Dan Lepard's recipes for GF.  I have posted it here.

:)   thankyou to you all for all your positive responses and helpful tips on bread making. I will be trying to get a loaf in today. This TM is a godsend-how did we manage before????   I just love the simplicity of it all and especially the scales are such a bonus!!
I am sure I will be on here with more questions before long. cheers  Jillyrose.
