Hello All Thanks to Cookie 1 I know now how to get started.  I did not realise that I have to click on New Topic.  Anyway, I'm here now.  My name is Cerise, from Sydney, Australia.  Thank you again, Cookie 1.

Welcome to the forum Cerise, you are almost there as Cookie said - you now just need to expand a little with some information about yourself.  You are not the first person who wasn't sure how the forum worked, is she Chookie  :D :D  That's how Chookie and I became such great mates - her wayward postings ended up being a pm to me and I had to take her by the hand and guide her through the steps.  Look at her go now though - mind you it was almost the blind leading the blind at the time as I had not long before bought my first computer and found this forum.  The girls on here are great teachers though so if you have any problems, just ask and someone will help you out.

Hello Cerise and welcome to the forum  :)
Title: I have introduced myself. Now I want to reply to you all. LOL
Post by: Cerise on February 12, 2013, 04:28:24 am
???   ???  Now what?  I clicked on reply but I think this would go global; to all the members, right?  What if I just want to thank those who sympathised with my past dilemma?  I think it more polite to thank them individually, right?  How do I do that?

Anyway, thank you all all who sympathised with me, or who laughed with me.  Mind you, I used to teach Microsoft products.  Anyway, thank you so much.  I am looking forward to so much fun.  I have been looking for an unadulterated, honest site who would talk about this product because I was going to buy a $460 product which makes mixing dough a state-of-the-art, according to the consensus of mwah, so I rang my best friend & told her if she would test this with me & if she likes it too, we can haggle for more discounts and we did.  So, I thought maybe if I rang other friends, we could get more discounts; then I called my daughter last.  Why her last?  Because those who have kids would vouch; the kids know everything.  I did not want her damping my enthusiasm.  So with excitement turned up to the nth decibels, I announced the perfect state-of-the-art mixer, much, much better than (can I mention a brand?) Kenwood as it makes sausages, pastas, purees, etc.  Lo & behold.  She said thank God I came out of cooking hibernation.  Welcome to this century, Mum.  Machines now can cook after measuring ingredients.  We went back & forth with me going, but can it do this, can it do that?  After playing ping pong, she announced the name.  I said how much is this thing?  I nearly dropped my phone.  I was not prepared to pay that much.  Anyway Thermo friends I haven't got one yet.  My daughter is arranging a demo when she comes back from overseas, which is end of March.  So there you go TF (Thermo Friends).

There was no mention of price in the Thermomix website?  How much is this really?  Now there's also Thermochef.  Ooooppppssss.  Did I mention a gremlin?  Apparently this is half the Thermomix's price.  What do you TFs think?

Cerise if you want to send someone something privately for their eyes only you can send them a private message as you did to me earlier today. When you hit reply everyone on the forum will be able to see what you say. We are pretty open here and understand mistakes.

It sounds like you are having fun with your daughter. The thermomix is about $1950 or so. It may go up in price, I a really not up to date with it. You will find everyone on here loves their machine. We do have a couple of members who have the thermo he'd on here.
I've had my thermomix for just over 4 years and do truly wonder how I managed before I had it. I now make all my bread, icecream, jams etc.

As I said earlier to you please feel free to ask any questions at all. Someone will be on here to reply to you and help you out.

Cerise,  hang around with us and buy a Thermomix and you will save the cost in no time .  As  Judy says,  you will learn lots of other things besides.  Judy rescued me from cyber space, as I can do the most amazing things with a computer,   I can also with the TMX.  I can make rice noodles, cook rice for sushi, make all sorts of bread,( including Sour Dough).  Get yours before Easter and make Hot Cross Buns,  with the rest of us.  Seriously though,  have a good look at the Demo,  ask lots of questions,  and then come on here and we will help also.

Hi and Welcome to the Forum Cerise.  Glad that you said laughing with you and not "at" you.  We are all happy to share our funnier moments and our mistakes with others - surprising how many come out of the woodwork and admit to having done the same thing.
I have had my TMX for about a year now.  When I went to a friends Demo I drove there thinking "well there is no way I am spending that much money on a kitchen appliance"! I left there thinking if only I had the money.  Luckily the next week my trusty Kenwood Chef - (which I had only had and used well for nearly 30 years )went up in a puff of smoke.  My friend called just as I was leaving to purchase a new one and suggested that the price was well on the way to my TMX  -  Enough said - I rang and ordered straight away.  Since then I have not regretted one cent of that money.  DH who does not even know where the kitchen is but loves his food raves to everyone about how much this machine can do and how simple it all is!  So obviously even he can see the value.
I am so happy with it that when I came into a small inheritance recently I was very pleased to be able to buy one for my son and daughter in law who have just had a new baby (that's right - I am now a very proud first time Grandmother).  We are going to have so much fun when I visit - not only playing but also making healthy foods for all - especially the baby who will not be having any additives and preservatives etc.
Go ahead and enjoy

Title: Re: I'm a New Member & Unfried spring rolls
Post by: Cerise on February 15, 2013, 01:07:19 am
Thank you all for welcoming me.  I apologise for throwing up on you all.  I mean that was the longest intro anyone has posted, I think.  This is the first forum I belong.  As a token of my appreciation, I was going to post a recipe that my daughter & I use for bonding ('cause it's lots of preparation - with a TM - I'm sure it won't be, as the vegies will be cut for me) which is making spring rolls.  You already have that here so I just want to add that I don't fry mine & eating it with raw rice paper is not as palatable.  Mine has sliced prawns (bought fresh, not cooked) & some minor additions like mung bean sprouts.  To brown them, I use my sandwich presser with a teflon coating on both sides.  Mine has a slider to regulate how much lower you want the presser to go so I just lower the lever enough not to squash the roll.  If I am in a hurry for it to brown, I just flatten it.  Ingredients are half cooked anyway & my guests do not mind them squashed as the taste is still there.  A girlfriend just bought a stoneware (you can fry with no oil) & she said she just rolls the spring rolls on it & they brown faster.  One lady here uses an oven & a mini one is great.  A little oil, especially if they are good oils, is good for the body so sometimes I spray oil.  My daughter is allergic to wheat so for her I use the Vietnamese rice paper & you don't need to fry that.  In the past, when I used to fry them, I got so fed up as, soon as a batch was taken off the fryer, they're gone even by the time the next batch is ready so I make sure the last one is for me; I made myself a whopper.  Hope the unfried bit is useful.

By the way, how long is this blog been going on?

I am from Sydney, Australia.

Cheers,
Cerise
