We had a great run from Perth to Geraldton.
Geraldton to Kalbarri was a different story. Darkness brings out all the wildlife.
We narrowly missed a roo which happily hopped across our path, luckly dh was driving at approx 80 so we managed to slow down & swerve. A fox ran under our wheels I was waiting for the "noise" but luckliy he got away.
We saw 1 cat, 3 foxes & 5 roos, plus a load of idiot drivers driving at 110 or more.
Today is a big day here on the foreshore. Looking forward to cp joining in the games, the band playing & the fireworks :)
Happy Australia Day :)
H :)
Gert, never eating roo again ;)

glad you made it safely Hally, that is a horrid drive geraldton to kalbarri, did you see any emu's last time we went lots of dead ones along the sides of the road, have a wonderful relaxing week
-
No emus, 1 dead echnida >:(
We took it slowly at 80, we were in dh ford focus.
Its so good to be here, we love Kalbarri :)
We have 2 sets of friends arriving today, one rang yesterday telling us they were due in today.
:)

Nice to hear you arrived safely Hally - driving at night is pretty hairy in the Australian outback.
-
Glad you arrived safely Hally :)
Our long drives in WA can be quite dangerous, especially at certain times of the day. Have to be careful ;)
-
we dodge cows here alot
-
Cows, wow they would do damage to car & cow.
Off to the foreshore :)
-
Have fun Hally :)
We saw a dead cow on the side of the road once, it was really hot so it had blown up like a big cow balloon :-X
-
We saw lots of dead echidnas and kangaroos when we drove from south Australia to WA. There was even a dead camel by the side of the road - so glad we didn't hit that!
-
It is the idiot speeding drivers that worry me.
-
Hally it is best not to drive at night if you can help it. Do you have a roo bar on the car?
Enjoy the celebrations. I hope it isn't too hot and the sea breeze comes in early for you.

Glad you are safe and well Hally. Happy Australia Day.

My friend hit a cow once and it was awful. Not only was her car wrote off but the poor cow didn't die on impact and the poor policeman had to shoot it because the poor thing was in a lot of agony. Totally horrible.
-
That's terrible medusa.
I have hit a few rabbits and that was enough, so horrible.
-
I bet none of you have ever hit a tortoise ;D I must have just clipped his shell enough to send him flying through the air into a paddock - if he kept all his parts tucked away he should have been fine.
-
We don't see too many of them Judy. There is one spot just slightly north of the city you may see them but I have never seen one in using that road for 45 years.
-
Judy that sounds horrible, but I couldn't help smiling at your description ;D
-
I had a holiday in Tasmania recently (loved it) but so much road kill on the verges compared with WA. I think it's because the density of wildlife and people is a lot more than in WA. Sad to see so many dead wallabies, echidnas etc 😔

Me too. Very horrible but I can't stop laughing at that poor thing flying thru the air. Reminds me of vern from the movie over the hedge ;D
-
Love that movie Kimmy ;D

I get very sad and emotional when I see all the wombats on the SA side of the Nullabor drive. We don't have them here in WA. they man at the Ceduna information centre told us they go out once a week to remove the bodies ( throw them in the bush I think) as there are so many on the road. Roos and emus don't worry me much, unless we hit one, and touch wood we haven't done that yet.
