Title: Hi all - another newbie
Post by: Jennyray007 on January 24, 2013, 12:15:25 pm
Hi everyone
I've had fun reading all your posts. Lately I am going through them as my daughter is having her second birthday party in a few weeks and I'm cooking and going to do the cake as well. I've had my thermomix for 6 months and love it. I've just started working full time so need recipes that are easy to make so when I get home I can cook for my toddler and husband. Husband has been doing the cooking recently which has been wonderful. The key is organization and just need to be organized.
Going to cook for 50 people for an afternoon tea - my husband doesn't know the numbers as he'll stress so just better to organize it myself and all will fall in place x fingers
Looking at the bimby chocolate cake for a cake and need to find a good sausage roll recipe. I was given one ages ago by a friend and it had pineapple in it but she has packed up her recipe books (as she's moving house)  and can't remember the exact recipe. It was a great recipe.
I look forward to looking at all the great recipes that are n this forum. Keep them coming.

Welcome Jennyray007. The chocolate cake you have selected is really lovely.
Look through our sections and I'm sure you will find lots of lovely things to make. What sort of things were you thinking of so that we may give you suggestions?

Hi
Hope I'm replying to this. I'm going to make sausage rolls, cheese cubed. Tuna dip, crudités, found a great recipe for mini quiche all in one but have the info at work on that one (it's on this link somewhere I'm going to close everything tomorrow night and do my shopping list).   I've got so many ideas but I have to go simple and make everything beforehand and so on the day I'm getting everything organized and just put all the platters out.   Friend told me about jelly oranges can't wait to try them. Was also going to do the herbal chicken gals from edc as I find them really easy and very tasty. Fairy bread. Saw a few other dips that I'll do but research for those at work bum. All from this forum. Also was thinking about the caramelised tarts that judydawn posted. Fruit platter. Was going to make cupcakes to go with cake but just thought I should stick to honey jobs plus the jelly oranges. Yippee can't wait.

Hi Jenny, welcome to the forum.  You will breeze through the cooking with the Thermomix and everyone will marvel at the amount of food you have provided.  With 6 month's experience under your belt you will have tried so many recipes so now it is only a matter of making your lists, preparing what you can in advance and making sure you have everything in and read to go on the day.  My little tarts you mentioned freeze well by the way.  Hope the party is a success, I'm sure it will be.

Thanks judydawn. Very similar recipe but the other one was using beef mince and also an apple. I might just go with something completely different and make the vege ones. I can give them a trial run on Saturday.
I can't wait for her party. I'm more excited than she is

Hello and welcome to the forum Jenny. You are one brave woman. I freak out at preparing for 20 people. I am never organized and this is my downfall. Oh well thank god for the BBQ :D
The vegetarian sausage rolls are a hit in this house. You won't be disappointed at all.
Good luck xx

Hello and welcome. You are indeed very brave to be cooking/catering for so many people. I love cooking but getting very stressed at the thought of cooking for more than just family members.
