As I have so many cookbooks, yes really, surprise I hear you all say, but for some reason i do :o :o
I thought I might try & do a fortnightly themed dinner night, eg. mexcan, italian, middle eastern, greek, asian etc. the idea is to try new recipes & have fun.
Anyone want to play?
I know a few people who might be doing an Italian night with their new pizza machines.

Sounds fun! And like you say it might help me to use more of my cookbooks!
-
It doesnt have to be fornightly, could be monthly.
I am going to make an Israeli dsh from my new book Jerusalem, sometime before the end of January.
:)
-
I would like to play. ;D ;D ;D I am a bit unreliable at the moment but will do my best. I would love to know what you cook from 'Jerusalem" as I got it for Xmas. i also have his 2 other books, and have made only one dish , which i have posted. ( Eggplant Cheese Cake)

Great chooks, just another way to use our library, lol ;D
Looking at chicken sofrito pg 190, served with roasted butternut, red onion, tahini & zatar, pg 36 :)
All looks amazing :)
-
Hally, i just looked the sofrito up. This is exactly what I cooked last night, without knowing. ;D We had visitors over and they loved it. If you turn to page 195 , this is what we are having tomorrow night.
-
I am booking a flight ;D
This book is wonderful, it arrived yesterday. I lived & worked in Israel on a kibbutz when I was 19, just a few years ago, lol ;D
So many great recipes :)

Love to have you over for dinner, but are you sure you want to come tomorrow as it is going to be 40 o here ?

I'm too tired to play but if I get some energy, motivation and cool weather, you never know - I might join you one night. ;D
-
I've got all his books too. Jerusalem is great. I need to get to know some of these recipes in a more meaningful way too :)
-
Gosh JD, you sound so low. Not like you to not have any energy - hope its only the weather getting you down :-*
-
I'm fine Kerry just feeling lazy and hot weather does make me tired at the best of times. I haven't become grumpy yet though which is surprising.
-
JD when. Cool change come your feel so mch better :)
-
When (if ever) we get settled might join in!
Sounds like fun!

Hally, make that 'when summer is over' - I am not a fan of the summer months at all but I'll plod along. Just cannot get motivated to do the outside work these days though hence the need for a gardener every so often.
-
I will try, mu pizza oven comes next week.

I know my veg patch needs work, but the heat puts me off :)

Me either. I'm an Autumn & Winter girl. Love the cooler/colder months, always feel more 'alive'. My energy levels are never good in summer and I find it hard to get motivated. :-\
-
I hear you Julie, I'm the same :P
Hally, I'd love to play along too, as long as I can find a recipe for each theme that mum and SD will enjoy :-))
-
Hally... You should become a chef for a caterer!! Cook to your hearts content without having to worry about your groaning freezers!! :)
-
I hate summer too :o
-
Hally I am very interested but will have to make sure it is something everyone will eat.
Judy I know how you feel. It is cool today and I have been running round cleaning, ironing and all sorts of things. I hadn't realised how much the heat had done me in until the coolness of today. It is a pleasure to be around, not just exist.
-
As you say cool here, loving it, really nice in the garden :)
Yes, just choose whatever everyone will eat :)

You think I'm kidding, don't you!! ;)

nights like this are fun, we often have them last one we had was Mexican night tacos, nachos, enchiladas, guacamole etc, we did a Chinese banquet too one night took ages to prepare but was thoroughly enjoyable
-
I'm in, but will have to make sure my lot will eat it too. My DH is no problem, he will eat anything, thank goodness.
-
I am in, but like Judy, after summer when things have settled down and we are entrenched in our weekly routines of school, kinder, etc. Sounds great.

I hate to say ths but I like routine too, aaaagggghhhhh.
Well we can start in February & no pressure but one a month for each if us would be nice :)
-
Sounds good to me. Feb it is. Once a month I can cope with. I think ;)
-
I wouldn't be able to participate on a fortnightly basis, but when I can I will. Are we going to post details of the menu, pics of the night or pics of just the food?
-
