Title: Fortnightly themed dinners
Post by: Halex on January 16, 2013, 07:14:55 am
As I have so many cookbooks, yes really, surprise I hear you all say, but for some reason i do :o :o

I thought I might  try & do a fortnightly themed dinner night, eg. mexcan, italian, middle eastern, greek, asian etc. the idea is to try new recipes & have fun.

Anyone want to play?

I know a few people who might be doing an Italian  night with their new pizza machines.

H

Hally,  i just looked the sofrito up.  This is exactly what I cooked last night,  without knowing. ;D   We had visitors over and they loved it. If you turn to page 195 ,  this is what we are having tomorrow night.

Gosh JD, you sound so low. Not like you to not have any energy - hope its only the weather getting you down :-*

I'm fine Kerry just feeling lazy and hot weather does make me tired at the best of times.  I haven't become grumpy yet though which is surprising.

Hally, make that 'when summer is over' - I am not a fan of the summer months at all but I'll plod along.  Just cannot get motivated to do the outside work these days though hence the need for a gardener every so often.

I know my veg patch needs work, but the heat puts me off :)

Me either.  I'm an Autumn & Winter girl.  Love the cooler/colder months, always feel more 'alive'.  My energy levels are never good in summer and I find it hard to get motivated.  :-\

Hally, I'd love to play along too, as long as I can find a recipe for each theme that mum and SD will enjoy :-))

Hally I am very interested but will have to make sure it is something everyone will eat.
Judy I know how you feel. It is cool today and I have been running round cleaning, ironing and all sorts of things. I hadn't realised how much the heat had done me in until the coolness of today. It is a pleasure to be around, not just exist.

nights like this are fun, we often have them last one we had was Mexican night tacos, nachos, enchiladas,  guacamole etc, we did a Chinese banquet too one night took ages to prepare but was thoroughly enjoyable

I am in, but like Judy, after summer when things have settled down and we are entrenched in our weekly routines of school, kinder, etc. Sounds great.

I wouldn't be able to participate on a fortnightly basis, but when I can I will. Are we going to post details of the menu, pics of the night or pics of just the food?
