Title: Hello <3
Post by: BT on January 12, 2013, 06:18:30 am
Hello,
we'll after a gruelling few weeks of research I purchased my Thermomix, I was only looking for a new blender for smoothies and the Vitamix almost had me until someone pointed me in the direction of the Thermomix.... ( thankfully !! ) ....    I love appliances and thanks to Thermomix will be rehoming a couple .. Steamer and bread maker are no longer needed...   ;D   I do have my KA mixer and Processor but I could never part with those, I love them <3.      Haven't had much of a chance to experiment yet as twins are on holidays and I also have a two year old..       Very excited to start playing :-)

Cher  :)

Welcome to the forum. Is the <3 significant in your title?   How old are your twins?
You will be thrilled with all the things you can make with the thermomix. There are heaps of recipes here that will help you along the way.

Hi Cher, welcome to the forum.  You are going to love your friends for pointing you in the right direction. Before you get rid of your bread maker, some people use it for baking their bread in summer rather than heating up their kitchen.  Chookie has posted 2 recipes for this - one is a sourdough (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=11302.0) and the other is a fruit loaf. (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7721.0)

Don't wait for the twins to go back to school, pick out some recipes they would like and go for it  ;)

Hi Cher, I didn't get rid of my bread maker I use it in the summer as Judy stated, I did rehome my big Kenwood chef and only once have missed it and that was for the Christmas Pud's a big batch but found this year just as easy to mix by hand, I have kept my stick blender which is handy for small amounts  of cream, .  It's a wonderful machine,

Hi Cher  welcome, it is a bit of a personal thing which appliances to keep and which to throw out.  I am gald I took a step back and waited until I was more used to the TMX and its capabilities before i started ditching appliances. thankfully i kept some of the ones i initially thought i would not need!!!!

Thankyou everyone.    My twins are 11 :-)   I'm really eager to try making jam since the plums are now ripe and the mulberries  aren't far off either....     I usually do this in a huge big pot but its very messy and time consuming although very worthwhile..     It's all very  exciting

Hi Cher and welcome :)
I ditched all appliances except rice cooker, slow cooker, ice cream maker (and now I have a pizza maker...) I did it with the intention of making sure I used my Thermomix to its full potential and prevent me fom going back to my 'old' ways (but if I had a KA I'd certainly have kept it!). Doing things this way worked for me, but as GHM says, we all do what's right for us :)
Happy cooking :)

Hi Cher, and welcome.  Very personal as to what you keep .   This depends upon. type of things you like to cook, number in family, space to store things.   I still have all my gadgets. I still use my bread maker and crock pot.  I don't use my Kenwoods, stick wand, blenders, Magi mix.   The TMX  is a great machine,  but a different way of cooking.  You need to adapt to a different method.  I am sure you will have fun.

I still use my stick wand, saves washing up and makes brilliant Yorkshire puddings!

Hello and Welcome Cher.
I also have re-homed my bread maker and steamer! I got the old Kenwood out the other day (for the first time in 2yrs I reckon)...and had absolutely no luck with it, which surprised and pleased me as now I can re-home it without feeling bad!!  :)
