Hi everyone;

I love the red too! I love it so much that I bought one in 2009. Red is my absolute favourite colour! (You can even see my red spatula in some of the older photos and videos on the blog!)  --- But that was before I discovered the grey ones. At first I wanted to sell the red ones but when I compared them side by side to the greys I was surprised at the definate differences. The red one is probably an earlier model of the spatula because the grey one is superior. This is not evident when looking at them -- but when touching, feeling, and using them.

It's a bit like the difference between the TM21 and the TM31. The TM21 works fine, but once you've tried the TM31 you really notice the differences.

I've been asked about this red spatula before by people in Spain and UK. Here's what I've told them:

For Thermomix fans in the UK the red one is a decent option as it won't cost them so much for shipping etc, and therefore easy to replace more often as needed. I've done the cost comparison on these red ones for TMX friends in Spain and Germany and with shipping included, the ones from the Kitchen Kit shop (http://thermomix.superkitchenmachine.com/collections/spatula-kits) came out costing less. This also applies for Australians. When you calculate the shipping for two spatulas the cost from UK is $39 AUD, whereas from the Kitchen Kit shop the cost is $37 AUD and includes a brush too. :)

Just wanted to share this because I did a lot of research and testing before starting up the shop and I take pride in delivering good service and product to like-minded Thermomix fans. I hope that all who've ordered Kitchen Kits already know this to be true... ;)

Hi Obbie -- I can't get the same quality in any other color. Sorry, that's how it goes. I prefer not to compromise on the quality unless absolutely necessary. If the same quality becomes available in other colours I will def be on it! ;-)

I love my kitchen kit! It was given to me by a friend who ordered one for himself as welll as for me, I use my grey spatula over the standard tmx one all the time (except when the tmx is going) and use the brush for cleaning every time time too. Have had it for over 6mths and only a tiny nick on the blade of the spatula. Fantastic quality products, thank you  ;D

I must be one of very few exception who don't like and aren't using their superkitchenmachine spatula. I find it too rigid/stiff to be of any use in scraping food from the bowl. I love the shape of it, just not the stiffness. Personally I like my spatulas to have some give and be a bit more pliable so I'm still on the search for a better/perfect spatula. Just my personal experience I know.

That's fair enough. We all like different things.

You are not alone mep. I agree with everything you say. I love my super scrubbies and the little brushes that came with the spatula, but the spatula is just too stiff. I use a similar size flexible one I bought from target home store ten years ago and love it. Problem is the blades scratch it and eventually I will need to replace it. Hope I can find a suitable one.

Me too. My favourite is one by Arcosteel but its more spoon-shaped than straight spatula.

I find IKEA spatulas perfect, cheap  and cheerful and at a price that are disposable once they get dog eared by the blades.

Are the blades flexible or pliable GHM or are they of the stiffer variety?

Hi, With living in the UK I bought a couple of the red spatulas, and they are pliable/flexible.  Although I'm on the internet, I do not order thru it (don't know how to & feel too old to learn).   I phoned to order them & was pleasantly suprised to receive them a couple of days later.

I have a very flexible spatula that I got free with a magazine at some point.  While I wouldn't use it while the blades are running, it's the best thing for scraping out every last bit of whatever from the bowl and blades.  Much better than the spatula I bought with the machine itself.
Wouldn't be without it!

The spatula that comes with the machine is the only thing to use whilst the machine is on - anything else could damage your blades.
