We found out today that a couple of very close friend of ours, who mum has known long before I was born, has had their garage broken into over Christmas. They were out of town spending time with their son who is dying of cancer, and some ******* ******* broke in and stole food, drinks and tools, turned on gas bottles and left them to drain, and turned off their fridge freezer and left the rest of their food to spoil. This makes me SOOOO mad!!! >:( >:( >:(
Sorry, vent over now. Thank you.

That is so bad Amy, the things they did and stole sounds to me like they knew the family. Otherwise why not steal things of value and not just food and turn of fridges sounds personal to me.
-
do they have video cameras.
That is so cruel Amy :)
No wonder house insurance keeps going up every year,.
-
How awful that they broke in & stole things, then totally senseless to switch everything off. Hope they catch the b*******.
Saw a jazzy sports car today, young boys, no plates.........
-
Oh Amy, I agree with you, WHY do animals have to do these things, even if they are caught there is no punishment.
-
That is such a depressing tale. It makes you wonder what goes on in some people's heads, doesn't it. I really feel for your friends, but I guess, as Yvette intimated, it could have been worse had they broken into the house and stolen items of value and trashed the inside of the house (not that I am making any excuses for such reprehensible behaviour).
-
Brenda, thats so true. Sentences for these crimes are really pathetic, just a slap on the wrist of a few months in jail which we have to pay for! >:(
Cuilidh, another four houses in their street were also targeted. One family had their car smashed, set alight, and rolled into the front room of the house across the road. Its just disgusting!! >:(
Robyn, no video cameras :(

You just have to believe these people are mentally ill, Amy . . .I can't imagine anyone in their right mind behaving like this . .
-
Amy that is so sad. Can never understand what makes these people tick. Hope Karma catches up with them soon.

Ditto. That is just so sad and cruel Amy.
People that do things like that have no morals or respect. And that never leads to anything good. Hope the family can move on from this terrible thing.
-
It would be most upsetting to come home to that scene Amy - I've been so lucky as to never have had a break-in but it's a violation of one's privacy and a senseless act. Thank goodness they didn't or couldn't get into the house to cause even more damage.
-
Unfortunately this sort of senseless thing happens in the UK Amy.Hopefully the culprits will be caught and confronted with their actions.
-
Horrible act of cruelty
-
As the victim (5 times) of break ins in the shop we had I can attest to the feeling of violation.
The randomness of petty criminals is what gets me, why leave something to spoil if you don't want it for yourself? Feeling for not only your friends Amy, but you too. Hugs.
-
Thanks fruity, and everyone for your comments.
I know it could have been much worse for them, but it was heartbreaking to hear the news because they have already been struggling so much since they found out their son has terminal cancer. Everything is so much harder to deal with when you are carrying a burden like that.
I think I will take them some Christmas fudge on the weekend.
-
That's a good idea, Amy. I am sure they will appreciate your thoughtfulness and support just now.
-
Sorry to hear about this Amy, it is terrible what some people do. I am sure they would appreciate the fudge.
Marie :)
-
So sorry, agree with all said above.
Hope things improve for them soon.
Hugs all round.

Amy, I cannot understand what makes anyone want to do that sort of thing. I feel for them and understand how violated they must be feeling. Several years ago we had a breakin and lots stolen but thankfully no mess and you never fully recover from the shock of finding out someone did this.
-
The ****************s. >:( >:( >:(
Thinking of you and your friends Amy. :-*
-
it's a shock to read all that Amy and it hits home more when you now people, makes it personal, have they received any help, can we do anything? 😢
-
Horrid idiots that do those sort of things. I remember when we were broken into the mess was atrocious. They had upturned every drawer and cupboard in the house, pulled all the food out of the freezer as well. We decided it would be a good time to clean up, but it was so much that we ended up just shoving everything back wherever it would fit.
-
How horrible.. We have been lucky to never have had a breakin just a stolen car and a smashed car window on another car.. That would be horrible to come back to .. :(
-
That would be a lovely idea to take them something Amy. I am sure they would appreciate it!
What a horrible thing to have happen to your friends...especially when they are dealing with something as horrible as their son's illness. Just makes me so sad and angry.
i wish people like those thieves that would just learn to treat others as they would want to be treated...with respect!
