Hi there,
I'm a newbie, and I was just wondering how you store your fresh bread made in the TM?
I've made bread a few times before and always seem to have the problem of it going stale before the family has eaten it. At the moment I've got my baked today pumpkin bread wrapped in cling wrap in the fridge (I'm in NQ and the heat and humidity are high at the moment). Usually I would keep a store-bought loaf in it's plastic bag in the freezer, and only take out the slices as we need them. Should I slice my homemade loaf and put it in some kind of airtight container in the freezer?
Thanks for your suggestions :)

Odette, I bake my bread and when it is cold I slice it and keep it in the freezer in a strong plastic bag and do as you do and just take out the slices I need.
-
Thanks Brenda, do you buy special plastic bags? I might try a large zip lock bag....

I normally slice it and freeze it too. The other day I kept a loaf wrapped in a tea towel and that stopped it drying out during the day. The fridge draws moisture out of food so it would probably be making your bread dry out more quickly. The man at my bread shop recommended a calico bag so I'm going to give that a go soon.

I never have this problem as I eat it all before it goes off lol!

Odette my local fruit shop supply really nice strong plastic bags to bag up their produce and I save these, the ones you get from WW are crap. The large zip locks would be good , freezer burn is a problem with bread if left too long .

I sllice& freeze in a zip lock bag, but mainly freeze rolls, loaves last a day or 2 max in this house.
Made 1 vienna day & 1 foccacia, gave 1/2 to neighbours, be lucky if theres any left for breakfast :)

I slice and freeze in zip-lock bags too but put freezer wrap between every 2 slices as homemade bread sticks together far more than bought bread (probably because I can't cut it straight).
The Vienna loaf (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=8950.0) stays fresher longer than any other bread I've baked so I leave that in a sealed bag in the cupboard and it is usually gone in 3 days.

As the are just 2 of us, and I usually make large loaves, I cut each loaf in half and wrap each 1/2 in foil. I freeze 1 1/2. And eat the other. I don't slice the bread before freezing. We eat most of our bread as toast, except for the first day when it is fresh.

I have made 4 loaves since friday & we have 1/2 loaf left, Ihave given some away.
