Post by: debetha on December 18, 2012, 01:19:22 am
We're on holiday and thermie came too! Made bread last night which remained doughy even when cooked on a higher than specified setting on this propane has cooker, an now bagels this am look a touch anaemic even after more than 30 mins... It's dds 2nd bday next week and wanted to make her a cake, as well as continuing to homebake bread - any ideas?

What are you cooking them in, do you have a cast iron camp oven ,? It heats up really well and might retain a more even temperature than what you are using, although you would need to be using a trivet  or a wire rack to sit you baking tin on.

There should be no difference in cooking with LP gas. Is the bottle full. Check for leaks. You should be able to smell it if there is a leak. Check the seal on the oven. Maybe the burners are blocked inside the oven?  That might be the most likely cause. Full of grease perhaps. Sounds like a pain in the butt.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. Bottle is full. Think I will have to make do. Zucchini cake came out fine on a higher than recommended temp & a bit extra time. Think I will have to leave the bread making though as not hot enough

I use LP gas.  It is the oven that is the problem.  Does the door seal properly ?

I agree. Maybe a thermostat problem as well. Try boiling some water in the oven . It should start to boil at about 100 c .
