Who's the blonde lady MF?
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/22/a4yvypaq.jpg)
Mum on the balcony. She has a head Amy LOL
-
LOL nice one MF ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
That's me Amy :) A young woman took the photo of me from behind
If mum had taken it you would just have seen my legs as she misses out body parts when taking photos ;D
-
Beautiful photos MF, so serene there. You look so young, I thought the blonde was a young girl
-
That's why I asked MF ;D I didn't think the lady in the photo could have been your mum, but then I thought if it were your mum taking the photo then it would have just been legs and the ground. So I was a bit confused LOL :D
It all makes sense now though ;)
-
Gorgeous photos MF.I will enjoy following you on your trip.Say hi to your Mum for me :-*
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/22/u6eqa4y8.jpg).
Mum didn't take this one either Amy :)
-
Ha ha JD photos don't show the wrinkles ;D
-
Wow you are young - whatever made me think you were much older :o Thanks for the personal photos, it has made my day to put another face to a name.
-
I don't believe you would have wrinkles MF ;D
I love your boots :D
-
Not so young Judy but thanks. I will be 58 next month.
I agree it's always nice to put faces to the forum names.
Love this forum and so glad I joined ;D
-
Wait until you come to Perth and you will see the wrinkles Amy. ;D
Will post a close up and then you will believe me ;D
-
Get your mum to take it MF, then I won't see wrinkles ;D
-
;D ;D ;D I may have wrinkly feet Amy Lol
Poor mum she has no idea where to look when taking a photo hence the legs and feet and no heads.
Good for wrinkle avoidance ;D
-
Your photo's are beautiful. I love Queenstown such a great part of the world. Have a great time.
-
Thank you for the photos MF. You and your Mum look great. What a beautiful place to be. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Look forward to some more photos when possible.
Marie

MF thank you for the photos. I a glad you arrived safely. It is such a beautiful place. Last time we were in Queenstown our kitchen/dining/lounge had a glass roof. We had magnificent views over the lake and up to the restaurant up on the top of the hill and the chair lift. Enjoy yourselves.
-
Glad you and your mum arrived safely and gorgeous photos, you sure do look younger than 58 you look great ;D
-
Beautiful photos, MF. I had forgotten how beautiful the countryside down there was. Have you ever been to Lake Tekapo in the MacKenzie Country? The lake reflections there are absolutely spectacular.
Hope you and your mum enjoy your holiday.
-
We are so lucky to go on holidays . What a world! What a forum!
Gert
-
Woo Hoo another holiday, just got back from France with Frozzie,
Then Cookies trip, we were in india yesterday with Trudy. Now we are in Queenstown with MF..
-
And ES's trip as well. It's great to have such generous members that share their travels with us. :)
-
Just got back from Queenstown myself last saturday. It was lovely while we were there too... you are making me wish I was back there....
-
Lovely photos glad you are having a great time :)
-
Great way to go on holidays
-
Hi everyone. We had a quiet day today in Queenstown. Mum was feeling the effects of traveling and time differences so we didn't do much.
Had a stroll around town and nice lunch in one of the cafes and browsed around the shops. A couple of glasses of wine on the balcony and an early night. Camera wasn't used today but plenty more photo opportunities coming up. ;D
Cuilidh have been to Lake Tekapo and it is very beautiful especially with the little church with the lake backdrop.
NZ is a stunningly beautiful country :)
Cookie mum wants to go up the gondola to the restaurant for buffet dinner so will do that on Sunday. Stunning views from the top as I am sure you will remember :D
-
Have you been to the pizza place with the roof that opens? It's a great little place with yummy gourmet pizza menu.
-
Yes Kimmyh I think you mean Winnie's.
It is a great little place and must take mum there.
Thanks for bringing it to mind ;D
-
Sounds like you had a nice, relaxing day MF :)
-
I love getting to see so many different places all from the comfort of my lounge! :) :)
-
Your trip sounds wonderful MF, enjoy hearing all about it.
-
Go out to Amisfield and Gibbston. They are my faves. Did "trust the chef" at Amisfield recently and was great. Gibbston is always worth a visit too IMHO. .
-
I love both Amisfield and Gibbston Jude. Planning to go one day next week. Will stop at Amisfield first so mum can look at the menu as she can be quite difficult to please as she is a very fussy eater and has more dislikes than likes unfortunately :o
-
Travelling with someone who is a bit of a fussy eater can be difficult, MF. A couple of years ago my cousin's daughter and her friend were in Melbourne visiting us (they are from Glasgow). I took them down to St Kilda market on the Sunday and the only place they wanted to eat was at Subway! Until then I had never been inside that chain of restaurants - and I've got to say, I have never been back. Hope you managed to steer your mum to somewhere nice.
-
Must be a Glaswegian thing Cuilidh as my mum is from Glasgow and she likes subway!
It is difficult at times but I made it clear that if I want to eat in a nice restaurant and there is nothing she can see on the menu then we can go to a cafe for a sandwich for her before or after I eat. She has always been this way but much worse now that she is older.
I try to be patient as she is almost 80 and she won't change now. So far so good but will see what today brings as I want to go out for a nice lunch today ;)
-
MF it is great sharing your trip with you and your Mum, hope you enjoy the restaurant, Mums can be difficult at times. Take care

A nice view to wake up to in the morning.
-

-
That is beautful, what a gorgeous view to wake up to.
Marie
-
These ones have come out really big and they slide if you move from side to side.
-
Fantastic photos MF :)
-
MF is that an island pictured in the bottom photo?
Marie
-
No it's a golf course on the other side of the lake Marie. It protrudes out to the lake on both sides. The lake has three distinct sections that all kind of join up at that golf course.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/24/yzeha5y8.jpg)
Marie this is a shot from the gondola looking straight down. Kind of shows you what I mean. This was from last time I was here and photo from my phone so maybe not great quality. The golf course is the furthest away peninsula
-
Wow, that is great thank you I can see now what you mean. Very beautiful, thank you for taking the photos for us to see what a beautiful spot in the world you are visiting.
Marie
-
Absolutely gorgeous photos MF. New Zealand is definitely on my list of places to travel :D
-
It is lovely and loads to see and do for all age groups. My kids ( all grown up as you know) all love it here Jade loved it in the winter season and went snow boarding and skiing every day. I am sure you would enjoy it Amy :)
-
Snowboarding! That sounds like fun :D I will have to start saving now ;)
-
What a gorgeous view MF. I don't think I would ever get out of bed if I could look at that each day.
-
Absolutely stunning
-
Oh my happy Aunt, how I would love to wake up to those views - do you plan on using the walker MF? Even I could walk for miles on that machine with the view to take my mind off it ;D
It sounds as if there is going to have to be a lot of compromise as far as meals go. That was the same when we took my parents on a 4 day return trip to Melbourne on the ship Virgo, a beautiful ship which was sent here because of some health problems in the part of the world where it was supposed to be doing it's cruising as all trips were cancelled over there. It only cost us $400 each to leave from our own Port and return to it so it was something we had to take advantage of. My parents were most uncomfortable eating in the silver service, a la carte dining room so the understanding was that we would eat there one night and in the buffet the next - worlds apart but they were far more relaxed in the buffet area. I had to choose and order for them in the a la carte.
-
What beautiful photo's. Looks like an amazing place MF.
-
love the photos.....
-
Lake Tepako is very beautiful indeed. MF I hate that gondola thing going up to the restaurant I a not good with heights. The first time we went up there, after dinner DH and DD went on the luge. Once more I was chicken.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/24/ady7uqaj.jpg)
Mum has taken her first shot with a complete person in it and I had no idea she was trying. She is very proud as I thought she was inside filling her wine glass!! A beautiful evening here and we ad a lovely day in Arrowtown although somewhat cloudy.
We went to the old Chinese mining village after we had lunch. Have a few photos to follow. Just met a coupe from perth who know two of our friends. It's a small world.
-
My mum is absolutely scared to go on it as well and I totally chickened out of the Luge like you Cookie. . I am ok on the gondola going up and down when facing the mountain as you can't see the height. But facing the the lake I am not in a good place. Unfortunately when I go with mum I ave to take the outward view or she would pass out. Going there as mum is a fussy eater, to put it mildly, and she enjoys buffets.. She almost trips over herself trying to get to the dessert bar. It's hilarious ;D
Having bubbles on the balcony now and a beautiful evening here.
-
Your Mum took a great photo MF :) I am no good with heights either, I always chicken out :D ;D.
Enjoy your evening
Marie

Sunset over Lake Wakatipu
-
Your views are similar to what ours were. Was lovely having a lounge and bedroom opening out to such a beautiful view!
-
Where is your place Jude? Ours is on Belfast Terrace :D
-
A very big congratulations to your mum MF, she took a lovely photo of you sitting on the balcony :D :-*
And what a beautiful sunset :)
-
Lovely pics. The nearest thing we can get to a,holiday just now. Gert is right amazing forum.
You are so elegant MF, lovely pic by your mum.
Enjoy the rest and thanks for sharing.
Xx
-
Thanks DJ. I think I was texting DH in that photo.
Mum usually misses out heads when she takes photos but got this one right as she was concentrating on the view so I was secondary which meant she got all of me in it .
I think I read in one of your posts that you like NZ.
Have you been here? It's a beautiful country.
Gert is spot on as this forum is fantastic ;D
-
I love NZ MF. Could live there anytime.
LOL
Love to go back sometime.
-
DH and I could live here too. It's so beautiful.
If we didn't have such a big family we would be here in a heartbeat.
We just couldn't leave our family :(
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/25/zynyny8a.jpg)
This is the old Chinese settlement that we visited yesterday in Arrowtown. During the gold rush in the 1860's more than 8000 young Chinese men came to central Otago to try to make their fortunes. Sadly many of them never made it home. This settlement housed some of the miners who worked this area. The huts were tiny and had 8 to 10 people in each. Only a few huts remain standing today as can be seen in the few photos I took.

Great pics MF, wow you are right about them being small. I complain about having a4 bedroom house with 7 of us. I couldn't imagine living in a small hut with 9 other people :o
-
It's sad isn't it. We are so spoiled in our modern world.
We take so much for granted :)
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/25/epypahez.jpg)
A relaxing day in town this afternoon and then we went up the skyline gondola and had a couple of drinks and then a buffet dinner which my mum loved. She went up and down with her eyes closed tightly as she hates heights. Food was plentiful and nice but I am not really a buffet fan.
Cookie this photo may bring back memories!I took a few photos of the view but didn't post them as I took them through the glass and could see reflections.
-
Lake Esplanade. Apartment at Peppers. Can highly recommend, stay there every time. Lovely view and good sized balcony and rooms.
-
I don't like buffets either. Try not to think of all the people leaning over everything.... Yuk.... Have a very weak stomach when it comes to things like communal food.
-
Great photos MF :)
Those huts are very small, I can't imagine living in one of those with eight or nine other people :( They would be cute for a child's cubby house though :)
That skyline thing looks scary! I'm scared of heights too :-))
-
Thanks for the gondola photo MF it did bring back memories. I wanted to go up to the restaurant as we had been on our previous trip, so I tried to be very brave. In fact I was so determined that I kept my eyes open and looked out, except near the top.
Judy my DH is like your parents. He hates eating out, and is very uncomfortable. Therefore I don't inflict it upon him. When his parents came from Europe they had absolutely nothing so for all of his childhood and young adulthood he never ate out. DD and I love to go out though and he doesn't mind.
For DH going out is Subway or similar. I understand where he is coming from and don't mind. In the big picture it is no big deal.
MF your photos are glorious. I can't remember where we stayed last time but it was in your area as we had similar views. If I wasn't so lazy I could go and check in my diary.
-
That's why it was so nice that he came up to Karen's recently Cookie because if we had met in a restaurant I know he would only have dropped you off. It's nice that you understand him so well and at the same time he doesn't stop you from going out with DD. Give and take makes a good marriage.
-
MF your pictures are amazing. I didn't realize NZ was so pretty. I am terrified of heights and a gondola ride would be a form of torture for me. I really take my hat off to anyone who can set foot in one!
-
My daughter used to work in the restaurant at the top of the gondola and would go up there everyday! Whenever I would visit, I would have to sit facing the mountain so I couldn't see the view. When it got too windy they would have to put sand bags in the gondolas to weigh them down!
-
Yes Moptop it is a really beautiful country and well worth a visit.
Jude I much prefer to order a la carte but as my mum is so fussy a compromise is necessary. She thoroughly enjoyed it so I am happy. She certainly got her money's worth. ;D I know Peppers and handy to walk into town.
Cookie I think this gondola is far less scary than the cable cars over the water in Singapore. Would you agree?
I was petrified on that one :o
-
Thank you Judy for such lovely words. It is sweet of you. DH really enjoyed himself at Karen, so thank you all for making him so welcome and comfortable.
MF I was scared on both. The first time we went over to Sentosa on the cable car it was pouring with rain. I think I was less scared there than NZ actually. We had a couple of young lasses in with us going to Sentosa that time who were really freaking out. On the outside I was the mature adult, but on the inside I was just as bad as they were.
I even have great trouble walking on the tree top walk in Walpole (WA) or up at King's Park.
-
I just love your photo's. They brng back so many nice memories. We went to New Zealand for our honeymoon and each time I go back I love it even more.
-
I am glad my photos bring back nice memories Trudy.
It is a lovely part of the world.
I am loving yours too ;D
-
Had a lovely day here today. This morning we drove down to Kingston and took a ride on the old vintage steam train, the Kingston Flyer, that runs between Kingston and Fairlight. Nothing much to see but a nice ride through farmland. A cloudy morning but brilliant sunshine in the afternoon.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/26/a2u8ahus.jpg)
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/26/evavyzuj.jpg)

Then had lunch at Jacks Point before heading into Queenstown for a browse around the shops and a glass of wine and soe tapas before heading back to the house around 7pm. Some photos of the Mall and lakeside.

You did better than me Cookie as I had to get off at the first stop and walk as I was terrified. I then had to get a taxi to take me to the Sentosa ferry so I could meet DH and my 4 kids who were all young at the time. I will never forget it!
I haven't done the tree top walk so maybe I shouldn't LOL :o
-
Beautiful photos MF :D I'm going to ask mum if I can go to NZ next year ;D ;D ;D
-
We can go together ;D ;D ;D
Maybe I should ask my mum LOL
-
That would be so much fun! You could show me all the most beautiful places :D
Make sure you get written permission from your mum LOL ;D
-
;D ;D ;D will ask her in the morning as she is asleep now ;D ;D ;D
She may say yes if I am good ;D
-
Blimey, I just realised what the time must be over there :o Aren't you tired MF?
My mum will probably say yes if I am good and pay for it myself ;D ;D ;D
-
My sleep pattern is wonky Amy.
Good thing is I can wake up really early or sleep in if necessary
Can't do that at home so enjoying it here.
Always up very early at home. :)
-
Mum looks pretty happy MF, obviously enjoying herself. Gorgeous pictures, beautiful place.
-
Thanks JD yes she is happy and very relaxed which is good to see. She is enjoying the change of scenery and much more cheerful.
Haven't used the exercise thing in the bedroom as I rather enjoy the view from my bed LOL
Hope your mum has a wonderful birthday. What a great age :D
-
Lovely photos MF. There doesn't seem to be heaps of people around.
-
Looks so beautiful MF. I am trying to arrange a holiday to South Island in late Jan with myself DH and two of DD's. not long after I migrated to Oz I spent six months in NZ and absolutely loved it, but at was a long time ago!! I am looking forward to going back. I was thinking we would do both islands in the two weeks but I think now we will just do the South Island rather than rush from place to place.
-
I think that's a wise move GHM as it would be very rushed trying to do both in 2 weeks.
You wouldn't really have time to relax and enjoy each place.
It's good that you spent 6 months here as you will know the best places to visit.
Cookie it's actually very busy here. I think the mall looked quiet as there were loads of people sitting outside in the grassy area and bars on the waterfront as it was warm yesterday afternoons. Girls in bikinis sunbathing and lots of people splashing around in the lake. :o
-
Loving the photos MF, thank you, what a beautiful spot. Glad you and your Mum are enjoying the trip. Makes me want to go there.
Marie
-
It is a lovely spot Marie and looks different everyday depending on the weather. Bright sunshine and clear blue skies and another brushing of snow on top of the mountains now. Must have been cold during the night. It usually melts on the mountains that I see from my windows but doesn't melt on some of the others. No idea why ???
-
Lovely lovely lovely
Thank you thank you thank you for sharing xxx
-
Welcome to the Forum, you do live in a very beautiful place.
-
Had a lovely day today. We drove to Arrowtown and had a nice light lunch and mum picked up a few souvenirs as gifts. Had a drive around the surrounding countryside and then home to get ready for our evening outing on the TSS Earnslaw which is an old steam ship that has been on Lake Wakatipu for 100 years. Nowadays it takes tourists up and across the lake to Walter Peak Homestead for different activities.
We had a buffet dinner there tonight and now I can barely move as I ate way too much. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/28/9a9uqevy.jpg)

Oh. My. Gosh :o
That is absolutely beautiful MF! What a place :D :D
Love the upside down photo too ;D
-
I don't understand why it's upside down on Tapatalk. Where are you viewing the forum Amy? It's not upside down if you access the forum from a google search.
-
Very pretty MF and yes the photo is upside down on the other page
-
I'm viewing the forum on my laptop MF. Just Internet Explorer :)
Its a very nice upside down photo though :D
-
Very strange and I don't know how to change it on Tapatalk ???
-
Those upside down photos are certainly interesting. Can't help you on the technical side, unfortunately.
The whole trip looks and sounds wonderful. I am very envious. It looks like you have been really lucky with the weather as well and that makes everything so much more enjoyable and fun. Hope the rest of your holiday goes smoothly. How much longe have you got over there?
-
We have been really lucky with the weathe Cuilidh.
Sometimes cloudy then suddenly crystal clear blue skies
High cloud here at the moment and no sky visible.
We go home on Sunday. Has done mum the world of good :)
She loves it here. It reminds her of home, particularly the west coast. I love the west coast of Scotland. ;D
Wish I knew what was going on with the photo problem ???
-
So glad that your Mum has enjoyed the trip MF. It has been wonderful to share it with you with the lovely photos.
Overcast here today. Have never been to Scotland but my ancestors came from there. Maybe oneday. ;D
Marie
-
Yes, NZ is spectacular, wish we could live there again but I think it has changed too much from my younger days and I would find it very strange now.
Talking of west coast Scotland - ever been over the Applecross Road? I took one look at it and decided not to bother. Love the run to Ullapool, though.
West coast NZ is very rugged and beautiful.
-
I'm enjoying the photos so much. DH is too being a Kiwi. He hasn't been to Queenstown for about 3 years now. We do our skiing at Hamner.
Are you still getting after shocks? DH did in Christchurch when he was there in August.
-
No haven't done that one Cuilidh but yes the road to Ullapool is stunning
I miss Scotland very much but quality of life in Oz is undoubtedly better.
As is the weather which is a big lifestyle factor.
NZ gives us our Scottish fix. ;D
-

Hamner is lovely Michele we have been there a few times.
We are originally from Scotland so NZ gives us the scenery but better weather than Scotland and not so far to travel.
Didn't know your DH s a kiwi. It is a very beautiful country.
No aftershocks here in Queenstown but haven't heard about any recent ones in Christchurch either.
It's so scary what happened in Christchurch.
Does your DH have family there?
-
So glad that your Mum has enjoyed the trip MF. It has been wonderful to share it with you with the lovely photos.
Overcast here today. Have never been to Scotland but my ancestors came from there. Maybe oneday. ;D
Marie
You would really enjoy the scenery in Scotland Marie but it doesn't have a great climate. If you are lucky to get dry days with a bit of sunshine then it's spectacular in the country side but that isn't guaranteed. That's why we come here to NZ for the lake, snow and mountain fix but plenty of blue skies and sunshine. So glad you are enjoying the photos. It's always nice to see different places. I love the forum trips-and really enjoying Trudy's trip in India at the moment. Loved Margaret River retreat, Hally in Hawaii, emerald Sue across the nullabor, cookies trip. Forgive me if I have forgotten anyone's recent trip but have loved them all ;D
-
Yes MF. He has his 2 brothers & their families and his dad and several cousins.
We were in Christchurch for the 1st earthquake where no one lost their lives apart from a heart attack victim. We were staying in Riccarton.
DH also has a Scottish background - hence the mc mich. DH is going to Auckland next week for a funeral. His SIL passed away, moved back up north when her health deteriorated. Very sad, although expected, she was only 61 yrs old.
Loving those photos. :)
-
OMG that must have been sooooo scary. You were very lucky thankfully.
That's very sad about SIL and 61 is way too young.
Should have realized by the mc mich that there was a Scottish connection.
Have you or DH been to Scotland? It's beautiful but climate is awful :(
-
I haven't MF. DH lived there for a year. Had a wonderful time, drove a truck delivering samosas (a lot that never reached their destination). A barman, well no profit for that Inn. He has great photos and wonderful memories of that time.
-
MF love the photos,
-
Ha ha it's not surprising about the samosas as thy are yum!!! And the bar profits who cares ;D LOL
Do you know where he stayed I Scotland Michele?
-
MF, DH went with his cousin whom he grew up with, they are 10 days apart. they bought a campervan. Apparently their is a square in ? the UK where everyone that's travelling puts their vans up for sale. They stayed in that and worked their way around Scotland. :)
-
Haven't heard of that square Michele but I have been here since 1981 and was 26 when we arrived.
Campervans are a great way to travel and work in another country. How long ago was that?
-
MF love the photos,
Thanks Robyn.
First lot of photos were good as from my camera but forgot my charger so have been taking photos onmy phone .unfortunately my camera wasn't fully charged :( Scenery very beautiful here.
-
About 1982 - 1983. DH has great photos. :D
-
We arrived in Perth 2nd March 1981. Seems like a lifetime ago :o
It is :o
-
30 odd years is a time ago.
-
It's another world away. We arrived with DS aged 4 and DD aged 2. Now 36 and 34 another DS 30 and DD 28 us 10 Gc's and one due boxing day. If we had stayed in scotland we would not have had DS 2 and DD 2
-
Lucky that you migrated then MF. You look way too young to have a 36yr old son. Must be that good Scottish skin.
-
Yes Michele no regrets at all as I wouldn't be without any of them. Not only that but we are now so multicultural as DS1 married an Aussie girl, DD 1 married to a Swiss guy, DS 2 married to an Italian girl and DD2 to an African guy from Zimbabwe. All get along well together and no regrets about coming to this amazing country. Thanks for the compliment but photos hide the lines!!!
How many kids do you have?
-
I have 2 of my own DD 25 married and DS nearly 23. I have 3 stepdaughters, 30yrs married and 19 and 15.
-
5 altogether :D
You have one step DD at home is that right?
Overcast day here in Queenstown but sun trying to break through.
A drive up to Glenorchy today I think.
Tomorrow our last full day here.

Oh lovely drive. We often go on up to Paradise. My grandmothers parents owned Arcadia - she was brought up there. Stunningly beautiful area especially Diamond Lake.
-
What an amazing place your grandmother was brought up in.
It's stunning up there.
Won't go that far thinking of driving arou d to Kinloch Lodge for lunch.
Hopefully the weather is nice today ;)

I know what you mean about Scotland and NZ being similar. We took a visit to Scotland this year. Never been before - we both have grandparents etc that originated from Scotland. Highlands for DH and lowlands for me (only visited the Highlands, next time Edinburgh etc). Was great and loved it far more than we thought we would. Stayed at Inverness, Nairn, Thurso and Ullapool. Took a trip to John O'Groates and visited the Queen Mum's castle. Then off to the sun in France haha. To be honest we did get really good weather and were expecting anything by the way people described it. Had some lovely times sitting in the sun at various establishments ;)
-
You must have been extremely lucky with the weather in Scotland Jude which was great for you :D
It is a very beautiful country and the drive to Ullapool is lovely.
I love the western isles and Edinburgh is a lovely city.
I did my nurse training in Aberdeen which is near Balmoral.
The countryside around there is lovely too.
Lucky you going to France.
We honeymooned there and have been many times.
We spent 5 weeks there last year :D
-
5 weeks would be lovely, especially if its summer there and winter here, haha!. We generally go mid may til mid June, have a week in England somewhere and then 3 weeks in France. 3-4 nights in Paris always then choose an area. This year was back to Loire Valley and St Remy, both favorites. Always spend time in Provence even if its just a few days - love it so much! Next year we are branching out and trying the Basque region in both France and Spain. Flying into Barcelona instead of Paris or London. It's a wonderful world but to be honest I didn't realize how truly beautiful my home country NZ is before I had a look around. Been in Australia for over 30 years but so close to NZ and easy to get there so not too much suffering due to homesickness.
-
The basque region is lovely Jude and Barcelona is a beautiful city.
It really is a wonderful world. I love Italy , France and Greece are my favourites in Europe. Love Switzerland as well.
Went to Portugal last year after France as my friends daughter lives in Praia da Luz on the Algarve.
Was lovely as I hadn't seen her since she was a baby and now 30.
We are so lucky to live in this era as going back to our grandparents era not many people travelled the world :D
-
A quiet day here today. A nice drive on the northern side of the lake late morning.
Lovely lunch in town then had a meeting followed by pre dinner drinks overlooking the lake.
Had a nice Italian meal then a couple of glasses of wine on the balcony.
Tomorrow our last day here. It's gone so quickly but will be great to be home.
Missing my DH and all my family and my dogs :(
-
Well our trip in beautiful Queenstown has come to an end. Mum had a great time and is very relaxed. She doesn't want to go home :(
Yesterday was wet so we didn't do much in the day except some washing and packing. Think it was good for mum as we haven't spent much time in the house in the daytime. Had a lovely dinner out and an early night.
Thanks everyone for sharing our trip with us. Your comments were greatly appreciated. :D
I am excited about seeing all my family and so happy that DD 2 's baby didn't decide to arrive early while I was away. ;D
-
That seemed to go so quick MF. It's been wonderful to follow your holiday. How long is the flight back home?
-
Flight leaves here at 2.40 pm.
Go home via Sydney Michele as no direct flights from queenstown to Perth.
Leave Sydney at 5.50 pm and arrive Perth 7.45 pm.
That works out at about 10 hours actual time. :)
-
A long day for you both. You'll have to do a bit of duty free shopping to pass the time. :D
-
Now that's a great idea ;D
Glad I slept well last night and mum still asleep now.
We actually only have 2 hours in Sydney and have to change terminals so the time will pass quickly :D
-
Yes, forgot you would have to get over to the domestic airport. It's an overcast drizzly morning here.
-
Yes not too long to hang around especially as mum walks slowly due to arthritis.
Thanks for weather update. Cloudy here too :)
-
Safe travelling MF - Sounds as if it has been a wonderful holiday for you and especially your Mum . . . thanks for sharing it all with us. :D
