This is my "new" car. It's a 2002 daihatsu cuore and its only done 27,500km in its 10 years ;D
It cost $4999 and my nana helped me pay for it ;)

So pleased for you Amy. You always remember your first car. Good old nana, this is what we do. ;D
-
Yaaaaaaaaaaa for you Amy, so pleased that you have your own set of wheels, great that your nana was able to help you. I can see me doing the same for my GD in a year or 2.
-
I second that Ladies as we just did that for our eldest GD who turns 18 in February. :D
-
Wonderful Amy. You never forget your first car. Look after it and visit your Gran as often as possible .

Enjoy your new car Amy, it looks like it's in great condition - gotta love Grandparents ;D My GD will probably want a Ferrari though so she had better not come to this Grandma for help :-))
-
Thanks so much everyone! :D :D :D
Yes, my nana is wonderful, I love her to bits even though she was telling embarrassing stories about me at lunch today :-)) ;D
I always drive safely ;) I'm more worried about other drivers, particularly the ones fuelled with testosterone and driving very large cars :-))
Gert and Snappy, my first trip will be to visit nana of course :D
Judy.... LOL ;D

How exciting Amy, you probably won't be on the forum much for the next couple of days cos you'll be chucking laps around town and using every excuse to go for a drive. Congratulations!
-
Looks like a very appropriate first car!
I hope you enjoy learning to drive and the freedom and independence that comes with it.
I got my license in WA before all the logbook stuff. I was lucky because my Dad spent endless hours teaching me to drive. Almost everyday for months we would do 30-45 minutes driving up and down the coast. I had some friends that only did 10-15 one hour driving lessons with instructors. They were all terrible drivers and all had accidents in the first few years they had licenses. Funnily enough it was mostly the boys that had poor driving skills.
-
If your first trip is to your Grans you can let me know and Jen and I can come over and see you and your new car. Grans are great, especially yours. Congratulations Amy :) :) :) :) :)

YAY AMY! ;D
-
Enjoy your car Amy it looks great and very cheap to fill up. Make sure you get those hours logged ;D ;D
-
What are you going to call it Amy? My 2nd car was an old Honda civic called Harry - my friends thought I had a new BF when I started talking about where Harry & I went on the weekend. You must give it a name!
-
Oh yes Amy it must have a name. My first car was called Percy and I loved him to bits. He was bright red.
Take DD's advice and learn to change a tyre before you head out of civilisation, that is very important. Perhaps someone would like to give you RAC membership for a birthday or Christmas. I feel that is important for a young lady if they have problems.
-
Oh man, nobody told me it had to have a name.... erm.... ???
Thank you all for your lovely comments about my car and for sharing my excitement! ;D
Den, I will definitely take you up on your invitation as soon as I take your advice and learn to change a tyre. I'm sure there must be a screwdriver in the boot that would do the trick ;D ;D
-
Yes you definitely must name your car. My first was a white Gemini called ET (after that sexy rugby dude who sadly is somewhat disgraced these days) and the second Harry the Hyundai.
-
All cars should have names. We used to have a pink and grey Morris Major named Pinky. My Holden Rodeo ute was called Bob. We had a Ford Fairlane named Henry.
-
LOL I love all these car names ;D
How do you tell if its a boy car or a girl car? :-))
-
Amy - you must learn to change a tire.....my dad taught all us kids (8) to change our tires before we got our learners licence (@ age 15) and I have been thankful for knowing how...it wasn't even me that had the flat, some young 20s aged male who had no idea... :-)) (He couldn't believe a "girl" would know how to change a tire!!)
-
just pick a name, you love.
Great car Amy :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
-
Congrats Amy. Great little car. Check out membership with RAC as it's heavily reduced for 17 year olds (maybe even free for the first year) then 50% off for the next. Very worthwhile to have. Drive carefully but have fun.

The membership sounds like a good deal VHJ, I think we're going to call them today so I will ask ;)

You need to get a feel for your car. You will know soon enough. The name should match the car's "personality".
-
Congratulations Amy, How nice of your Nanna to help you out. Have fun and stay safe!!

Amy, I am really enjoying the pleasure you are already getting from your car. It takes me back 50 years.!!!! My first car was a road racer. I used to burn the chaps off at the lights. OMG, don't go there.
