Good morning all :)
I'm thinking about getting some dried figs in our next bulk goods order.
Do you have any favourite recipes that include dried figs to share please? Either tmx or non-tmx.
TIA

Fig jam.
George Calombaris peppered figs. I always keep some in the fridge. Great with fried cheese. Or use as you would chutney.
Fig cake
In your breakfast muesli.
They keep forever in the fridge.
I recently used some on pizza with apples, caramelised onions on a cream cheese base.

Maggie Beer has a Pav like dessert with dried figs in it . delicious. I wouldn't be without dried figs.
I also use them in a dried fruit middle eastern fruit salad.

I always have dried figs on hand. I use them anywhere you would use any dried fruit. A fruit loaf made using figs and walnuts is yummy.

Does fig jam work well with the dried figs or is it not as juicy???

I have an old recipe from a CSR book for Brandy Apples with figs. I make it all the time, very quick and really yummy.
30g butter
2 cooking apples peeled cored and thinly sliced (or use a firm apple that will hold its shape)
2 tblspns dark brown sugar
4 tblspns apple juice
2 tblspns brandy
4 dried figs
Vanilla ice cream to serve
Melt butter in saucepan add apples and cook 2-3 minutes
Stir in brown sugar apple juice Brady and figs.
Cook stirring over low heat until sugar dissolves.
Bring to boil, reduce heat simmer 5-8 minutes until apples are tender.
Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream
The photo is from the book. Mine is usually more runny

Thank you all for replying so quickly :)
As soon as I saw George Calombaris' peppered figs and Maggie Beer's Fig and Walnut Tart dried figs went on the bulk order list ;D.
Also consulted Mr Google on the health benefits of figs and was very surprised to find how good for you they are. The only down-side is that the "to try" file is becoming huge :o
Thank you all very much. I really do love this forum :) :) :)
