Ok for all the pizza machines, pizza ovens, pizza ideas.
what are your favorite pizza toppings. :)
-
I am a traditionalist and love good old margherita and quattro fromaggio.
Next favourites at the moment would be rocket, prosciutto and shaved Parmesan, and potato and rosemary :)
-
I am boring too my favourite is pepperoni
-
This may sound a little out there for some . . . but we found this really delicious!!
http://allrecipes.com.au/recipe/2462/vegetarian-sweet-potato-red-lentil-pizza.aspx
(Thanks for starting the thread, Obbie - excellent idea!! :D)
-
Love the Australian pizza from this book...
-
Light cover of tomato base, bacon, banana, chilli and sprinkle of cheese.
Olive oil, thin potato slices, blue vein cheese and walnuts, sprinkle of cheese, or roasted Beetroot instead of the potato.
Peanut butter, and leftovers :D
Pizza night tonight, it's Friday ;D
-
Have that book also astarra in the softcover, its a beauty.
Here is a list of my favourite toppings, which you will need to save to a file before you can read it. Ignore the dots, that was one night of pizza making I had to put a dot next to the ones I was making so I could remember :D
-
I have just been googling pizza toppings and thought the chicken, brie and spinach (http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/12039/chicken+brie+and+spinach+pizzas) topping sounded nice.
-
Our local Pizzaera does
Garlic pizza
Tropicana
Cujun chicken
meat lovers

Capricciosa
Parma
Vegetarian
Garlic Prawn
-
Ooohhh, of course, this is Amy's gig. You will have to share the ingredients Ames.
I haven't had a portofino before. ;D
-
My fav at the moment is minced beef (which I wish I could spice like the local pizza shop) and chicken breast cooked in some of the tikka paste from the Indian cookbook (no Greek yoghurt used).
The missus usually has mince beef, lots of peppers (red & yellow) and/or chicken cooked in Italian Herbs.
Amy: what is an Aussie topped pizza?
-
Rob - I don't know what Amy's shop classes as Aussie pizzas, but thought these two photos might give you an idea...
-
Thanks Astarra that looks yummy. If only we had real bacon here, we can only buy streaky bacon which while nice just isn't the same. (Which I always find strange for a country obsessed with pork). Will need to bring some back with me when I'm in the UK in a couple of weeks.
-
Yum Rob, I would like the chicken in tikka paste but with the yoghurt.
What time is it there? Just seems like a couple of hours ago you were going to bed.
-

Many thanks for that CP - I've saved the file but can't seem to get it to a point where I can read it - print very hazy. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Either works :) though surprisingly without the yoghurt it wasn't as strong as I feared it might be. Cooking it in, then cooking in the oven with the tomato sauce / cheese muted the bite a little (though it still had some)
It's now 8:41am, I think I was going to sleep at 00:40 ish and came back here around 7:30 ish to see what happened overnight :)

You aren't doing anything wrong, the quality / size is a level too low so it's unreadable.
-
Thanks very much for that, Rob! I appreciate your getting back to me. Thought if I printed it out I might be able to decipher it word by word . . but just couldn't do it . . .eyesight not the best either! :-))

Well, I know why I haven't had portofino now, not overly fond of seafood. Although prawns may be OK if someone else handles them.
Thanks Amy ;D ;D
-
I biught the ww book abut 3 weeks ago, great pizzas.
I love pizza bianca & light toppings then the last few minutes baby spinach.
H :)
-
Amy thanks for that list.
Judy thankyou for moving the thread for me
-
Amy, thanks for the list. I made 6 pizzas tonight. We usually share 1. I had a play with reheating one for dinner and the other 5 I vacuum packed. Think this will be a very quick and easy dinner when we have been in the garden all day.
-

Vacuum sealed for freezer.
-
I had a large jar of Stephano Di Peiteri, ( Can't spell his name). Tomato pasta sauce and used this as base. It was expensive but very nice and did 12 pizzas.
-
We know who you mean Chookie - Gondola on the Murray, yes?
I do like the sound of the Portofino - never heard of it before but then when was the last time I walked into a pizza shop ;)
No worries Robyn, it is all about food so thought it best here and not in Chit Chat. I deleted the one Chookie started as no-one had got around to posting in hers.
-
Anyone who wants a copy of the pizza toppings just PM me their email address and next week I will email you the attachment.
-
Yes please CP - you have my email address. :-* :-* :-*
-
CP - That's very nice of you, but I think you might be inundated with requests!! If you have the page on your computer - say in word etc - is it possible to just copy and paste it on the forum? Just an idea that might save you heaps of emailing. . . . :o
-
If you have it as a word doc on your computer you can attach the document too ;) otherwise CP you have my address to xx
-
No it's not a word doc, I had to scan it and therefore reduce the size so it was compatible with the allowable attachment size. JD and faffa you have the recipes in the retreat book ;)
-
Thanks CP, didn't think to check there.
-
PM sent, thanx CP. :D

Thanks :)
We rarely use traditional toppings. Pizzas are just like pies....great for throwing on your leftovers.
-
Thanks Maddy managed to get some more Pittes bases and threw one in the freezer, they are not always wasy to find
-
We picked up a Pizza Capers menu and we use that to get ideas for pizza toppings ! They have some great ideas for toppings.

see the thin & crispy base from here, spread with an almond paste, topped with thinly sliced apple, sprinkled with a brown sugar/ cinnamon mix, chopped pecans, and dotted with butter. Added pecans at 5 minute mark, otherwise they burn at 7 minutes of cooking.
Cooked in pizza oven for 7 minutes, number 2. I did place pizza on grease proof paper for cooking.
top with ice cream & pure maple syrup.

Maddy, YUM YUM YUM.
-
Yummy Maddy
-
That looks fantastic Maddy ;D
-
After looking at these at last I want to rush home and make some more pizzas.
-
Just flicking through an Italian cookbook and a couple of recipes/toppings jumped out at me:
Balsamic Pizza with Pumpkin & Fetta
Whisk together 1/3 cup balsamic dressing, 2 crushed garlic cloves and 1 egg. Mix into 1 cup sifted SR flour and knead to form a soft dough. Roll out and spread with tomato paste. Fold 10 slices of salami in half, pinching edges tightly. Arrange over pizza and top with 1 cup shaved butternut pumpkin and a drizzle of olive oil. Bake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes. When cooked, crumble 100g soft fetta over pizza and serve.
Red Onion Pizza with Mozzarella
Caramelised red onions: peel and cut 3 red onions into wedges. Melt 60g butter over low-medium heat and add onions, turning occasionally until softened. Sprinkle over 1 tbsp brown sugar and 2 tsp balsamic vinegar and cook for a further minute or until onions are caramelised.
Pizza: Combine 1/3 cup tomato paste and 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar and spread over a prepared pizza base. Top with torn prosciutto, caramelised red onions and pan juices from caramelising onions. Bake at 180 degrees for 9-11 minutes. Remove from oven, sprinkle with mozzarella and allow to stand for a few minutes until cheese is slightly melted.
Pizza Roma with Rocket and Parmesan
Cook 1 small, sliced red onion in 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat until tender. Add 2 crushed garlic cloves, 450g lean beef mince and 6 thin, chopped salami slices. Cook until the mince is browned all over, making sure to break up any lumps. Stir in 140g tomato paste, 2 tsp smoked paprika, 2 tbsp fresh oregano leaves and 4 tbsp water. Set aside to cool.
Prepare pizza base and spoon cooled meat mixture over dough. Top with 3 tbsp pine nuts and bake at 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Serve topped with shaved parmesan and fresh rocket leaves.
-
Great recipes Amy, thanks for that.
-
I made pizzas again last nite
-
Great dessert pizza. Cream cheese mixed with honey, topped with stewed apple and a sprinkle of almond meal :)
-
I made pizza for lunch using leftovers: Crio Bru Beef Chilli from FFS, Avocado and some of my homemade goat's cheese. Delicious!
-
This has been my favourite toppings to date & is so simple
(http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/nachothecat/9a87ed6adec153374dc26d16f9c73fb1.jpg)
Smoked turkey breast, sliced pear, Camembert, and drizzled with cranberry sauce that I blitzed until smooth.
-
I wish I had some turkey left.
-
Feeling hungry I could go a slice of that pizza Maddy looks delicious.
-
This has to be one of the most delicious toppings ( especially great to serve with drinks) or as a light meal.
Equal quantities of Gorgonzola, bococcini, mozzarella and smoked provolone. The last time I made it I couldn't get the smoked version but it did not matter. Chop all ingredients in TMX and smear on ready made pizza base. Drizzle with olive oil and cook!
That is so easy but oh so yummy!
-
It sounds delicious.
-
Maddy and Chooky, I've copied your photos along with the recipes, they just looked soooo good!
My DD's Hens Night is coming up in February and I've suggested pizzas for tea. I thought I'd have a variety of bases and toppings and people can make their own. I'll have both my machines going.
-
That will be fun MJ. iVe had a similar dinner gathering and it was great fun. We had people trying new things and creating interesting things.

I only hope the girls aren't beyond it. We start at 9.30 and head off to a winery some km's away. It's going to be a loooong day!
I thought pizza would be best to soak up the alcohol!
For dessert pizza, I'm going to try Nutella and marshmallows! Might mix a bit of cream cheese with the Nutella. It would only need about 30 seconds on 1, so not sure what sort of base to use. Perhaps a brioche dough, parcooked.
-
I've done an apple one from Theo's book and that was nice.

Forgot to say that the pumpkin and chicken etc made two pizzas and i made an extra just garlic parmesan sauce pizza added a little more cheese on top and finely chopped parsley.. So like a cheesey garlic bread pizza.. I put heaps of garlic in the sauce though
