This is the one I got which has been very good. At the time there was a special where you could get the black one (which has an extra pan for making omelettes etc) for the same price as the red one. I have never used the extra pan tho. The pizzas we have made have been absolutely beautiful and its been well worth buying.
-
We have the same unit as CP and are very happy with it. Gets a lot of use especially when DS's come to visit. I have not used the extra pan either. Makes great pizza's
Marie
-
We have the same one as CP. We love it. I bought my brother a Breville a few years ago and the heat rings catch on the food of the pizza, not good.
We actually give our bases a quick cook in the pizza oven ( afew minutes), then add the topping and cook again as we have thicker pizza crusts.
Happy shopping.
-
CP is this called the Pizza Baker? Do you know roughly how much it is ?
-
It was around $140, it's called "the pizza maker". Off memory the red one is exactly the same minus the extra tray, and about $10 less
-
Thanks CP is it easy to clean?
-
Chookie, I also have the same pizza maker as CP. I love it ;D
I use the insert pan to make Quirky Jo's fruit pizza. It is like a flat sponge and lovely to add fruit and toppings.
Also partially bake gluten free pizza bases for two minutes then freeze. Also make Jo's quinoa and chia flatbreads for two minutes and they make wonderful salad wraps. Also have them in the freezer.
You will have a lot of fun with it. Also used for normal pizza bases for DH and friends. There is so much differnce between a hot stone in the oven and the pizza maker. The pizza maker wins every time. ;D
-
Just looking at these on line does the red one have a knob on the top, haven't found the black one like yours yet CP, is the element bare?
-
Just rang Victorias Basement red one is $89 and black $129 will go and look at them on the weekend
-
Here's what Choice have to say: Electric Pizza Ovens (http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/household/kitchen/benchtop-appliances/pizza-ovens-review.aspx)
I just use a pizza stone in the oven as they recommend.
-
Thanks to everyone. MJ, I have a pizza stone but for some strange reason, I can't produce a good pizza in my oven. Can do on my hooded BBQ, but sick of running outside to check on it. Will let you all know what I have decided once I have had a look at them tomorrow.
-
Meganjane, I had also read the choice magazine review. I don't agree with that review :)
I've had so much more use of the pizza maker then I had imagined. It makes eating gf a lot easier - pizza bases, flatbreads, naan breads and the fruit pizza cake type of base. Cleaning the stone is just a brush over, no water on the stone. I always put the bases on baking paper, as all my gf bases etc tend to be a batter.
Yvette, great prices for the pizza makers ;D
-
When cooking pizza in your oven on a pizza stone, you need a very hot oven with an element at the bottom that can be turned on, also fan forced.
Ellie, that's great that it works well for GF! Perhaps you should contact Choice with your views.
-
I was sceptical before DD borrowed a friends. Way to go flavour and convenience wise. I used to put the base directly on the stone, but I now roll out the dough on a piece of baking paper, top it and lift the paper up and straight onto the stone. It gets all the heat and doesnt stick but any toppings like cheese etc fall onto the paper and then no more cleaning burnt stuff off. When cooked picked up the edges of the paper and slide onto a chopping board for cutting up.
-
That's a brilliant suggestion CP as I hate scraping all the bits of spilled topping off the stone.
Makes it easier to lay the base onto the stone as well. :)
-
I have a Theo & Co Pizza Perfector and must say it is absolutely brilliant! It has two trays (one with holes for home made bases and one solid black tray for bases already prepared) and has both top and bottom elements which can be on at the same time or independently. Trays go in dishwasher so absolutely no mess to clean up. ;D
-
MJ, I think the problem is that my oven doesn't get hot enough. It turns itself off . You can imagine the fun i have when i am making bread and it turns itself off. :o
CP, you are full of good practical ideas.
ElleG, I have taken note of your suggestions.
-
I can't agree with their conclusion at all.
I have the Pizza Maker and it has paid for itself over & over & over.
I've also got a pizza stone, but it is impossible to get the same results as the pizza maker. Gourmet pizza's are never any more than 10-15 minutes away and at a fraction of the cost of a shop.
Also - the pizza maker is far cheaper to run than heating up the whole oven for something that really only needs intense heat for 10 minutes.
Just sayin'. ;D
Here's what Choice have to say: Electric Pizza Ovens (http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/household/kitchen/benchtop-appliances/pizza-ovens-review.aspx)
I just use a pizza stone in the oven as they recommend.
-
I disagree with Choice this time too. Our pizza maker is used almost weekly and has been for years.
As Amanda says gourmet pizza in no time at all. We've been having some sweet ones since I bought Theo's book too.
-
Ours is used weekly also, and has also paid for itself. Had it for years and no problems and would think it would be cheaper to cook pizza in than heating up the oven. Well my oven anyway.
CP's idea of the baking paper is a really good one.
Marie
-
We have a wood fired oven/bbq that DH built it doesn't have a temperature gauge but I can tell when the fire is right - pizza comes out perfectly. Won't be any good in summer though.
-
DH built a wood fired oven and it does cook beautifully but we tend to only use it when we have visitors. Takes awhile to get it up to temperature and as you say mcmich no good in the summer.
Marie
-
I need a pizza machine..
-
I think I do too Robyn.
-
I need a pizza machine..
Go for it Obbie!
Another thing I love about Theo & Co Pizza Perfector is that it has a viewing window so you can see how the pizza is cooking while rotating without having to open up lid and let the heat out. :)
-
I will ask for chrismas, as my birthday pressie is all ready organized.. :)
-
I love my pizza machine and have had it for years.
Now with TMX making the dough is so easy and in no time have amazing pizzas.
Highly recommended and saves on electricity as no need to preheat the oven.
Mine is Italian made and is red and called Pizza Express Napoli.
You need one Robyn :)
-
I think I need one too!
We cook our pizzas on a stone in the BBQ. They come out great but I can see this would be far more convenient.
-
I just use pizza stones in my oven and had the thumbs up from a longterm Italian visitor last year. Maybe pizza machines are useful but where do you store all these machines?
-
Ella, I have a wall of cupboards in the laundry for all these gadgets. And a bench in the laundry for the bread machine, crock pot, Ice cream machine and ice maker. Yes I know I am lucky. Cooking is my Hobby.
-
I have the black pizza maker too, and love it to bits! if anything burns onto stone, I remove it outside, and use a flat edge metal plaster scraper to get off any burnt bits.
we had pita pizzas last night
(http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/nachothecat/1916a1e943e058c63a80f52561aa58da.jpg)
it takes my oven 20-30 minutes to heat up before I start cooking.
The pizza maker takes 3 minutes to heat up, 3 minutes to cook a pita pizza, and 7-8 minutes to cook a fresh dough pizza.
-
Maddy is there any difference between the black and red pizza maker? Apart from the extra tray thingy? They would still cook the same I would imagine
-
Oh. have to get one. That pizza really looks great :) :) :)
-
I hate making pizzas and the more I read about these pizza machines the more I agree with you SueJen - maybe I need one too.
-
Really love homemade pizza JD but usually burn the base, my oven is the problem. So with a proper machine would have no worries
-
I think I am buying one on the weekend, just want to know what the difference is between the red and the black :)
-
Can we buy these in stores or is on-line better/cheaper?
-
Both Judy check the prices I rang Victorias Basement yesterday and they have the red one for $89 and black for $129 provided they told me the right thing. My mum is arriving this afternoon so we are going on the weekend will let you know
-
sueJen, the red one has a fixed pizza stone, and the black one has a removable stone, with a deep dish insert.
you can then cook/toast taller things in it, as well as omlettes, fritatas etc.
it comes with wooden paddles, but I purchased the metal ones from their site
http://www.newwavekitchenappliances.com.au/catalogue/products/accessories/metal-paddle
And also can purchase a replaceable stone if needed
http://www.newwavekitchenappliances.com.au/catalogue/products/accessories/removable-stone-fixed-stone-base-replacement
keep in mind you can't pile your pizzas sky high, as there is an exposed heating element under the lid.
I use it for toasting/grilling lots of things instead of my oven.
For quick pizzas I use thick pita breads....couldn't be easier :)
-
Thats it no more excuses, I'm buying the black one. Thanks Maddy
-
Guess I should go and have a look at them before deciding too Yvette.
-
Can get the black one in Albany, will pick it up when I'm down there on Tuesday
-
Thanks Maddy the black one sounds the best with the retractable stone easier for cleaning too I would imagine.
Yes Judy have a look around I couldn't find the black one online anywhere just the red, let me know if you find the black one :) :)
-
The black one on Maddys link is $169.00
-
Racking my brains I think I got mine from Matchbox. I wouldn't pay that much if you can get the same elsewhere cheaper. Can possibly try also Home. They are pretty common, and I think chookie is getting hers from DJ's
-
VB told me $129 which sounds a bit cheap will see on the weekend
-
Kitchen warehouse used to have them if you are in WA. A removable stone is a MUST.
-
Kitchenware direct have them for $159 with free delivery the black one that is ;) ;)
-
Tried VB online and only could bring up the red one for $98.00
-
I will check for you on the weekend Mich ;)
-
Thanks Yvette.
-
Anyone got the family pie/pizza maker? I'm interested to hear about that.
-
This thread is just as dangerous as the shopping thread!
What did you end up with Chookie?
-
Had to bring Jens grandson to Albany for footy training so called into House.
Only had the red one $129. Will wait til I can get the black one
-
Marina, of course it is..... :o :o :o :o
-
Bought the black one from DJ's , on sale for $139.
Cooked Pizza for tea. Fab considering first effort. No problem getting base and top exactly right. No problems getting a very tasty result without piling it too high.
I used CP and ElleG idea of using baking paper under the pizza. What really impressed me was that the edges browned and bubbled.
The only problem I had was with the red light. I initially couldn't tell if the light was on or off. Worked it out easily.
Think the deep dish is going to be worth having.
I used the thin and crispy dough recipe of the Forum. Made 2 very large pizzas but we could only eat one. Will try reheating left overs tomorrow.
What we can buy here are pizzas , uncooked and frozen. They have very basic toppings and cost between $6/8. They are vacuum sealed. Think i will make some to have on hand.
Have Theo's book and read right through it at breakfast. He says to use cold water when mixing the dough. I think you would have to let it sit for a while.
Only difficulty will be where to put it. It sits up off the bench, so is a bit difficult to put in my cupboard.
Will keep you posted.
-
Yayyyyyy! :D
-
It sounds great Chookie, the grandkids will love it when they come to stay.
-
I bought the black one tonight from Victoria's Basement for $129 will use it tomorrow night :D :D
-
Yvette, good buy, have fun.
-
I bought the black one tonight from Victoria's Basement for $129 will use it tomorrow night :D :D
Excellent Yvette. You will have to let us know what you think of it.
-
let us know how it is, we could end up in the shopping thread
-
Yes I will everyone thanks DH will buy all the topping etc today excited to see how they taste :) :)
-
For lunch today, I reheated left over Pizza , from last night. I heated the machine and then slid the leftovers, which were on baking paper, onto the stone. Heated for 2 mins. Perfect. crisp on the bottom and hot right through.
Have to be careful lifting the lid as steam comes out and could easily burn.
-
Guess we will have to wait til we go to Perth, no black ones down here BUT Jens daughter lent us hers for the week.

😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
-
yummy pizza...
-
was yummy too obbie and so quick
-
SueJen, looks great. Yum.
-
Bet it tasted as god as it looks
-
really god CP ;D ;D ;D
-
Nice looking pizza Sue.
-
Thrilled with the pizzas made in this machine. Would like to use the deep dish for non savoury dishes. Is it possible to cook a cake type layer in it? Has any one tried this ?
-
Chookie, I have cooked Quirky Jo's fruit pizza in it a few times.. Sorry, can't do link ups. The fruit pizza is a flat type of cake. To my memory it tasted like Macka's hot cakes. The recipe uses 6 eggs, I use 3 eggs and 3 chia replacements and used gf flour.. The fruit part of the recipe is the topping.
We really enjoyed it, as did the vistors. Can highly recommend. ;D
-
Thanks ElleG. I looked at Jo's recipe when you mentioned it before. I will give it a go, but I thought it looked a bit 'eggy'.
-
Chookie, as I have never cooked it with the 6 eggs, it doesn't taste eggy at all. I cooked it for 5 mins in a preheated pizza oven. Last time accidently used SR flour. So I can report its nice either with plan flour or SR flour. ;D
Served it with yogurt that had been strained and was like a cream and berries. Yum
-
ElleG, that sounds better !!!!!!
Have just cooked toms and bacon in deep dish. Will post photo.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/29/u5evedep.jpg)
Tomatoes and bacon, cooked in deep dish.
-
Looks great Chookie
Great looking pizza Suejen
-
We are cutting up all different types of veges and fruit and some meats Yvette, I think this will be a pizza long weekend ;D ;D ;D
-
There are some topping suggestions in that book SJ ;)
-
Must have a look CP ;D ;D ;D ;D
What would I do without that book
-
Chookie I'm sure you will come up with a few different ways to use that deep dish from the pizza maker - anyone made an omelette or frittata in it?
-
Really like the look of the bacon and tomatos chookie, I've just cut up all my bacon to go on pizzas ;D ;D
-
Chookie, bacon and tomatoes look good. ;D will have to try them.
SueJen, your pizza looks great. Have fun with the toppings. ;D
-
Just decided to go shopping - garlic prawn pizza for lunch :) :) :)
-
Courton's Grape Pickers Foccacia should go well in the pizza machine as well. I'm sorely tempted to buy the machine just to make her foccacia!
-
Chookie the bacon and tomato looks wonderful! What is the liner that you are using in the deep dish? Is it one of the resuable ones?
Am seriously giving consideration to this pizza maker ..... Does anyone know if you could cook naan bread in it?
-
In theory, naan should be cooked on the inside walls of a clay tandoor oven.
Anything else is not authentic.
I have one of these pizza makers with the dish and I think it might be a little small for naan. I'm wondering how it would go in a hot frypan??
-
We cook naan (using Chookie's recipe) in a frypan on the wok burner on the BBQ - it gets the pan very hot.
I agree I don't think you can replicate naan cooked in a tandoor oven, but it's still very yummy.
-
Amanda. a friend makes my recipe and cooks it in a hot frying pan. As you say , not authentic but good.
KarenH, yes that is a reusable one.
This afternoon I am going to try making cake base in the deep dish. Let you know how I go.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/29/aregase5.jpg)
On sour Dough .
-
I love naan bread and if it tastes good it doesn't matter if it's authentic or not. ;)
Not many will have a tandoor oven in their home.
I make tandoori chicken regularly just in my oven and it's yummy
-
Have fun Sujen with your pizza weekend
-
Oh poop, now I want one too.
You're so right about taking ages for the oven to heat up! And, if I can use it for other things as well with the deep dish, then it's worth it.
I had an electric pizza maker before, a Breville one and it was crappy. It ended up dying anyway. Checking out the black one as I type.
It's $137.95 here (http://www.crazysales.com.au/stone-baked-pizza-oven-the-pizza-maker-ld-901.html).
-
You won't be sorry MJ - it's a great little machine. I've had mine for several years & it's still going strong.
-
The chooks ate very well this afternoon.!!!!! I made several cakes. Nearly there.!!!! The trick is to cook them , without burning the top or bottom. I want to serve the cake with either yog. Or cream, or custard and fresh fruit.
Cooking Naan for Dinner, well I think I am. Keep you posted.
-
Everton have the black one for $140 less 10% this long weekend. Shipping is capped at $6.50
-
everton it is then :)
-
Pizza with garlic prawns

Naan
-
SueJen, that looks delicious.
Sorry about the big photos.
Naan good. Will be making them like this in future.
-
I've just ordered mine tonight - didn't get CP's special price though. Your naan bread (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4932.0) looks great Chookie. I'm presuming you did your recipe I have linked to or is there a recipe book that comes with the pizza maker with one in it?
-
Used mine for the first time tonight yum yum made 5 pizzas
-
Have a look on the home page or something JD. I also saw it on some messages on the right hand side that you scroll through.
-
Too late CP, all ordered. $140 + $8.95 delivery. Saves me going to the shops to look at them, everyone seems happy with theirs so that's good enough for me. I was going to buy DD one too but I think I'll make a batch and then lend it to her to do the same.
-
I got free delivery! Woohoo!
This will most likely be travelling back and forth from our holiday home, along with Thermite. Love the Naan, Chookie.
-
Wow all the pizzas look delicious. We had take away tonight (Red Rooster) as DD and I had spent the entire day at the Royal Show.
It will be pizza tomorrow night.
-
For the Naan, I used my recipe. Made 8 pieces. I covered the stone plate with a non stick silicon sheet that I cut into a circle.
Heated up on 1 and then cooked on 2 1/2. I brushed both sides of the Naan with garlic infused oil. Also brushed with same oil when cooked. Also had a little play around and rolled 2 pieces out , brushed with oil and scattered cheese over 1 piece and placed other piece on top, pinched both together. Bit like Calzoni.
When using the deep dish, instructions say that items cook with this method , should have the lid open. So you are using it like a frypan. I have been trying to cook the cake with the lid closed. I think it is possible but consistency of batter and dish used important.
Might have to set up a thread to post recipes for this machine.?
I have spent some time with Mr. Google and there is very little information available.
-
That sounds like a good idea Chookie. It is no threat to thermomix so I can't see why not. Well be using the thermomix to do bases etc.
-
I ordered one yesterday from Victoria's Basement $129 + $12 delivery = $141.
My DH was laughing about how quickly we all have to have something we see on the forum.
-
Just tell DH thankfully nobody has bought a Ferrari ;D
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/29/e8agaran.jpg)
Nearly there with the cake.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/29/8a2e5uju.jpg)
This is the filled Naan.
-
Is DH doing all the taste testing Chookie :D :D
-
Looks fantastic Chookie ;D
-
What's the filling in the naan?
-
Sorry just read your previous post with the naan description . :-))
-
I think i would get killed if i bought one
-
Uni, we are not Italian, so we get away with murder.
-
;D
-
Well said Chookie ;D
-
We have the black one too and absolutely looooveee it. Chookie, we've made Teninas Naan bread directly on the stone, using the recipe below, but you just need to keep your eye on it as it puffs up a bit and can touch the elements but we just poke a whole in it with a knife and it flattens down again.
Our neighbour is Indian and she said it was the best she's tasted so I think that's a pretty good testimonial if you ask me. She asked me for the recipe lol
http://tenina.com/2008/06/na-na-naan-bread-hotmixpro-thermomix/
-
5 pizzas, and its just about paid for itself. Chookie has had a whole days entertainment and fed the chooks at the same time...priceless ;D
-
Chookie you are doing a great job on behalf of all those who have one of these machines. As you get things down pat you must start a new thread and post all these recipes so that we can print out our own recipe book for the pizza maker. We will love you even more than we love you now ;D
-
We will love you even more than we love you now ;D
I don't think that's possible is it???
-
Oh yes, we can always squeeze out that little bit more loving CP
-
There is always enough space for a little more love in the world ;D
-
Blush, Blush. You are all TOO kind. I really do enjoy pushing these gadgets to their limit. The TMX makes it easy.
There is already a lot of info out there on the Forum, It just needs pulling together. Deb , thanks for the reminder about Tenina's recipe. That now makes at least 3 good base recipes.
ElleG has had a played around, and has some good ideas and CP really got me going with her Pizza parties.
How about a thread with these headings , bases, fillings and other uses.? Any suggestions. ?
-
Chookie, great work ;D the cake and Naan bread look really good. I'll have to work out how to post photos.
I think a thread for toppings, base and other use for the pizza oven is a great idea. The TM and pizza oven go so well togehter and there is alot of owners - now :D
For those of us who eat GF, the piza oven makes us to allow treats, that we normally miss out on. The last Pizza capers pizza I had was so ordinary, I hadn't bothered with a commerical one since. I've had my pizza oven for about a month and am so pleased with it.
Friday night has become pizza night ;D
-
Chookie that naan looks just amazing.
Bugger the clay tandoor oven - these look as though they'll pass the test!
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/30/a4yre3e5.jpg)
Made with cake cooked in pizza machine.
-
(http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii26/ragdoll128/yum-nyam.gif) Beautiful Chookie :D
-
what brand of pizza machine is it.. i am going shopping tomorrow...
-
New Wave. Multi function, 'Pizza Maker"
-
Thankyou....... ;D
-
The black one Robyn :) :)
Looks great Chookie
-
Day shopping with kids and husband, movies tomorrow, kids want to go to movies. school hols and they are at work, with us all week, so a treat day....
I'm shopping too... :) I hope to find a pizza machine
-
Day shopping with kids and husband, movies tomorrow, kids want to go to movies. school hols and they are at work, with us all week, so a treat day....
I'm shopping too... :) I hope to find a pizza machine
Hope you can find one Obbie. I think there are plenty of red ones around but not as many black ones.
Have a great day tomorrow
Marie :)
-
obbie, I think it is worth hanging out for a Black one.
-
Chookie I'll have to try the cake in the pizza oven. I loved your trifle, we haven't had one for ages.
-
You NAUGHTY NAUGHTY girls, I want one now too. :-)) :-)) :-))
-
:D :D :D :D I wonder what we will all be buying next week
-
We are all as bad as each other :D the pizza oven is easily justifiable tho ;)
-
pizza oven more than justifiable CP
had friends turn up today just before lunch
was able to whip up pizzas in no time at all, even Jen wants one now :) :) :) :)
-
I bought the black one online yesterday from Victoria's Basement.
Don't want to tell DH though as we decided yesterday afternoon to extend the back deck and put in an outdoor kitchen - would be easy for me to cook pizza in the bbq then. :-X
-
CP love the new pic :)
-
Michele, this is easier than the BBQ, and quicker.
Cookie, need a slack cake mix, I used 'quicker than a packet mix '. With a bit extra milk. .Also very thick based dish and I also put 2 sate sticks under the tin to stop it burning. Also need to cover cake with foil 1/2 way through. Cooked mostly on one. Still experimental.
-
I want one, but do I want a divorce ??? Then I wouldnt be able to cook as much.
I have the top Miele oven, a beefeater hooded bbq that does pizzas, my dh would roll his eye more than I have ever seen. I thi k they would pop right out ;D
Doing pizzas in my oven today with the intensive bake setting. See how it goes.
H :)
-
Hally, don't risk a divorce, yours is a keeper. ;D You can probably cook good pizzas without the machine. I couldn't.
-
Yes chookie he is a keeper ;D & so is yours ;D
As you know my oven bakes great bread & everything else. ;D
:)
-
I also have the New Wave Black pizza Maker and I love it. Have had it for about 4 months and we have pizza almost every Saturday night. I can highly recommend it. I haven't used the deep pan dish yet but will now with all of the great recommendations. I got mine online for $139 with free postage but can't remember where it was from. I haven't used baking paper on my stone but probably would be a great idea as my stone is quite dirty looking but it gives a great flavour.
-
Sooo tempted, maybe if it just turned up.
-
Patients Hally, you are going on a holiday soon....
:)
-
By the time we get our plans drawn up and submitted to council - the outdoor kitchen wouldn't be ready until next year anyway.
I will have cooked lots of pizzas by then.
Love your dancing star Obbie.
-
thank you Michelle, I added him this morning... :D
-
My main reason for not purchasing & its what stops me, is you can only make 1 at a time.
I would be better off buying more stones, even dh has suggested that to me.
All this talk of dough has made me hungry. Have some zaatar bread rising now for breakfast, not putting the zaatar on all, rosemary on some too. Love this toasted :P
Freezing whole pizza, woyld you cook it then freeze it?
H :)
-
They are quick to make though Hally I made 5 the other night
-
I like to cook 2 at a time, more if poss which is why more stones would be good.
If you could cook the pizza in layers, 4-6 at a time, I would buy it yesrterday ;D
H :)
-
2 pizza machines could mysteriously end up in your kitchen then Hally ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Hally we make one and start eating it while the next one cooks, and then a third one. We have them ready to put in. The second is ready while you are eating the first.
-
Hally - you've multiple stones and the Beefeater bbq . . you're home and hosed in the pizza stakes!! ;D ;D
-
Looks like Hally we get a pizza machine.
-
It seems that I may just have to cave in and get one of these - now I need to know which is the best pizza base to make, there are so many recipes to choose from. What's everyone's favourite?
-
Hally - you've multiple stones and the Beefeater bbq . . you're home and hosed in the pizza stakes!! ;D ;D
Yes I am goldfish, my pizzas yesterday were fantastic.
:)
-
I think you cooked your pizzas in your oven yesterday, Hally? What was the oven temp? My oven is like an old car . . will only go so fast ;D So I think the bbq might be the best bet for us. Either that or a new stove/oven :-)) :D
-
On here: MJ's Passata, and also her Pizza base. The passata is under jams & chutney. Pizza sauce with tomatoes is under main dishes. JD has a white sauce called Pizza with garlic sauce under bread. All lovely.

230 on inetensive bake for 9 mins :)

I love my new pizza machine, I use the pre made bases that Maddy put me onto :)

How much were the bases?
-
DH did the groceries I think $4.99 for 6 will check next time :)
-
Thats OK, the gourmet ones in Coles were $4 each.
Did they crisp up?
H :)
-
I love my new pizza machine, I use the pre made bases that Maddy put me onto :)
I must have missed that post, Yvette. What is the name of Maddy's bases please? Ta.
-
Yes they did crisp up :)
They were called Pittes I think Maddy posted a picture on this thread :)
-
Just ordered mine from VB - trouble is now that I've made my decision I am so impatient ... I WANT IT NOW, I don't want to wait!!! What is their delivery time like?
-
Not sure Marina I bought mine from there, but from the store, they had plenty on the floor so hopefully wont be long, go and buy your toppings soon and get organised that way then when it comes you can get cooking :) :)
-

Me too Marina. I ordered mine from VB on the weekend. I just have no patience at all.
-
I put a tray in the fridge with lots of containers on it. I grilled Eggplant, zucchini and capsicums, made garlic oil, olives and lots of other interesting bit and pieces. When making the pizzas asked every one to choose their toppings. Next time for the children, I would do 1/2 toppings on the one pizza. Also most adults wanted similar, so would make ones to share, and be cooking the next one while family/ guests were eating. This may sound strange, but have used sweet chilli sauce as a base. ( This was a mistake ). No one seemed to notice.
-
That's a great idea ACW - many thanks! The selection of toppings could be done the day before - most of them anyway?
-
Mine arrived today, yay! Ordered Friday from VB, arrived today in Adelaide.
My DH emailed me at lunch time after he had been to the post office to say there were parcels for me. My new Nigella book also arrived ;D

You're going to busy tonight Kaite cooking and reading ;) :D
-
You're going to busy tonight Kaite cooking and reading ;) :D
I will be busy reading.
We had gnocchi for dinner, so I don't think I'll cook a pizza tonight :)
-
If you have the tupperware server with a bowl in the middle & sections around, ths is great for pizza toppings, always use this when its more than us 3.
H :)
-
WoW.....this thread has exploded since I last looked! :P
I love my new pizza machine, I use the pre made bases that Maddy put me onto :)

I use these pita bases for a quick pizza
(http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/nachothecat/3faf87b0e4f70ea131c6e0ca63514efe.jpg)
-
Those pita breads look great for pizza Maddy, but I don't think we can get them in Qld :( Would making pizza nice and quick though !
-
This may sound strange, but have used sweet chilli sauce as a base. ( This was a mistake ). No one seemed to notice.
;D I don't think it matters what you put on a pizza, if it's homemade it will be delicious!
-
Have you ever used peanut butter, for a satay pizza. Yummy :)
-
Didn't think of PB, Obbie, my DH is a PB nut (excuse the pun)!
-
Have you ever used peanut butter, for a satay pizza. Yummy :)
Sounds interesting, Obbie.
I had a Middle Easter Lamb one in SA a few years ago. It was delicious.
-
I have used salsa, that was nice :)
-
our favourite is Tenina's sundried tomato pesto mixed with sour cream.
Judy's garlic cream sauce is also nice
melted quince paste, then topped with Camembert :-* wicked
....really is endless.
Any leftover dips you make are great for the bases.
-
Bought 2 packets of bases today at safeway. There are 6 in a pack.. The ones Maddy uses worked out at about 40 cents a base. The others, recommended by a friend, bazaar brand, are 60 cents a base. You can make 6 for $1. Handy to have some ready made in the freezer.
-
(Knowing there are no silly questions on here! :-)) ) What is the best way to freeze home made bases? Do you just freeze the dough, thaw when needed, and then roll it out? or do you roll it out and freeze it all ready to go - what would be the best way to separate the individual bases?
-
A friend of mine did pizza for a party and she made the bases, rolled them into balls and squashed them a bit flatter to make a disc and then froze them. They were excellent.
-
freeze in between layers of plastic wrap, or baking paper, all rolled out, ready to go.
-
... defrost before use or use frozen?
-
I would defrost.....
-
I am going to par cook some, say 2 mins in the machine, top with sauce and a little cheese. Put 2 or 3 in a pile , with baking paper between and then Vacuum seal them.
-
Let us know how that goes chookie? Would save a lot of time.
-
I freeze pizza dough all the time. Just leave in a ball, defrost & roll out, perfect with jamie olivers dough.
:)
-
Chookie that sounds good.
Hally I will make some pizza dough and freeze :)..
-
Roby, love how much room you make in your freezer.
-
Chookie that sounds good.
Hally I will make some pizza dough and freeze :)..
Its great having in the freezer. I wrap each ball in glad wrap then place in a zip lock bag. I normally have 4 in the freezer at a time.
-
Michelle, One freezer has mainly lemon juice in it. ( so 1/3 full with that.)
The other is meat, chicken, fish, prawns, bugs. I still have 10 kilo of barra, 5 kilos of coral trout, 5 kilos of prawns, 3 kilos of bugs, 5 kilos of king salmon.
the other is ready to put 1/2 a cow in next week... :) :)
-
Love the idea of your freezers Robyn
I have 1 upright freezer...only. :)
-
I love the sound of all that seafood Robyn and the lemon juice to go with it.
-
love seafood. I buy direct off the boats.
-

Lucky you Obbie.

You are so lucky Obbie, wish we could buy off the boats. I love sea food.
Marie
-
so easy here, 1 of my friends have a boat, another works on one...
-
When cooking pizza in your oven on a pizza stone, you need a very hot oven with an element at the bottom that can be turned on, also fan forced.
Our relatively new oven has this feature, not had it before. Just need a pizza stone now :) for the moment we use a heavy based oven dish.
-
I had notification from VB, that the pizza maker had been dispatched on 3/10/12. I looked up the tracking number but it hasn't been updated since then. Fingers crossed it will arrive today and we will be having pizza tonight for dinner.
-
Michele, I think we ordered ours at about the same time, but I haven't had any notification of despatch yet. My fingers are crossed for an arrival today for both of us, but I think yours will be ahead of mine. Enjoy your pizzas!
-
Hopefully we will both be eating pizza tonight. JD is still waiting on hers too.
It gives me time to go to a bigger WW and Coles to see if I can find the bases Maddy uses.
-
Are you guys using bought pizza bases and not making your own? If you make your own, which is your favourite recipe for the pizza maker? I don't like mine too thin.
-
Judy, i think it is mostly a case of how thin you spread them out. Although I think the thicker ones have a slightly different texture. We like ours thin, so might be best to ask someone else. I love the thin and crispy recipe. Hope all you girls who are waiting, get them before the weekend.
-
We like them thin & crispy too.
Hope those machines arrived soon ;D
Marie
-
Hope you get your machines today girls :)
Mich the pizza bases (Maddys) were on special last week in Woolies so they were all sold out so that might be the problem as to availability ;)
-
Thanks Yvette, will give the Bazzar ones a go then that JulieO uses.
-
Emailed Everten at 7.30 this morning and have just heard back that my pizza maker is onboard the vehicle and will be delivered today - happy chappy ;D
-
So Pizza tonight JD ;D ;D ;D
-
Not sure MF, step-son and GD visiting late morning so will be here for lunch I presume. Will see how the day goes but I don't have any mozzarella anyway so it might have to wait until the weekend.
-
Yay Judy you can get your toppings and bases ready :)
-
Great news JD ;D
We're having pizza's in our new pizza machine here tonight!
-
I just used Tasty cheese on some of mine Judy :)
-
Looking forward to seeing lots of yum pizzas.
H :)
-
Well I have plenty of that on hand Yvette so there is a chance then as I don't want to go out seeing as I am having a delivery.
Everyone's making pizzas - who is going to start that pizza thread (was it you Chookie?) for these machines with suggested toppings, sauces and other things we can do in the machine. So the recipe book that comes with it isn't much good then girls? You know I have no real idea what I am buying, have never even seen one in the shops - only on the net. I just get led astray by everyone on here :-))
-
The book that comes with it Judy isn't anything great, you need to turn machine on for 10 minutes first. Then I think (Maddys instructions are on here) heat on 1 and cook on 2 or 2 and a half to get an even crisped edge.
-
Anyone who went to the retreat has my fave toppings (sorry every else it's too long to type again :'( )
-
Guess what I just had delivered? ;D ;D ;D
Great that you getting yours today JD. Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that marina will be joining us for pizza tonight.
-
That is great mcmich, pizza night coming up ;D ;D
Marie
-
Woohoo Mich good one and now you can go and do your shopping :D :D Let us know what you think
-
Anyone who went to the retreat has my fave toppings (sorry every else it's too long to type again :'( )
Scan, paste, copy, take photo . . .fax, dictate . . .
any of the above, CP?? ;D ;D ;D
-
Judy, there is a single lift out sheet that comes with the machine.
You heat for 10 mins to burn off any impurities. let it cool, ( open up to cool quicker)
Then heat for 5 mins. there is a little light that goes out when it is hot. This is hard to see clearly.
Pop pizza in with its topping ,( on a sheet on oven paper ) switch dial to 2 1/2 and bake, with lid down for 5 mins.
Have a peep after about 3.
I PUT AN OVEN MIT ON MY HAND AS THE STEAM CAN BURN.
-
Truck has just pulled up.
-
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Yay JD :D
-
I have set up 3 separate Threads for Pizzas. I have said Pizza Machines, but of course they apply to baking pizzas in ovens.
-
Anyone that is receiving there pizza machines today I would put it on for the 10mins earlier in the day, then you can just use it as normal tonight :D :D Make sure you use oven mitts ;D
-
Good idea, I'll also put this on the Pizza Toppings thread. I think you will need to save the file before you'll actually be able to read it :D (Ignore the dots, that was one night of pizza making I had to put a dot so I could remember which ones I was making).
-
Thanks CP
-
Great JD. ;D
-
JEALOUS ... JEALOUS ... JEALOUS :(
-
I want one too ;)
-
Same - tho I probably won't.....probably.... ;)
-
Buy one girls :o :o
-
Just received an email from Aust. Post that mine is on its way - but it will be next week before I see it. Now I just need to be patient and I'm not going to look at this thread again until next week (but I will scour all the recipe threads until then!).
-
That's a shame Marina :( hope you get it on Monday
-
Marina, use the time to get things ready. lots of discs of baking paper would be handy.
-
Sorry Cuilidh, I was hoping yourself, JD and I would all be cooking pizza together tonight.
Lets hope it's Monday.
-
Did you all receive an extra box in your parcel? I was quite surprised to find a 3 piece rectangular BBQ pizza stone, stand and cutting blade. There were 2 cutting blades in with my pizza maker. I have only had time to take it out of the box and get rid of all the rubbish. Maybe over the weekend I will get to use it.
-
No JD, what a lovely suprise.
-
So I got lucky then Michele. I ordered my pizza maker from Everten and this (http://www.everten.com.au/_search.php?page=1&q=BBQ+pizza+stone+3+piece+set) BBQ pizza stone was in the box too.
-
Judy pizza maker from Everten came with a special bonus BBQ kit, how do i know? I bought one too ;D still waiting for it to arrive hopefully Monday was posted out on the 3rd
-
Thanks for that info thermo18, I had no idea :-)) Mine was also posted on the 3rd but Perth is just that bit further away so you certainly should receive it on Monday.
-
I hope so, isn't it nice when you get a extra surprise :D
-
How lovely JD to get a bonus (especially when you don't know about it and it's a total surprise :))
We made our first pizza's tonight and they were lovely. We used the bought pita bread bases as recommended by Maddy, along with some pizza sauce that was in the freezer. My DH overloaded his pizza with toppings, so his didn't turn out as good or taste as nice as mine ;D. I always tell him "less is more" when it comes to making a pizza.
Very easy and much faster than our normal method of cooking them on the pizza stone on the BBQ.
Next time we will try with home made pizza dough.
-
Nice little bonus Judy. You need to play with the machine a little, to get used to it.
-
I've seasoned it already Chookie, that's a start. The book will be going to bed with me tonight then I might be ready to make a plain old Hawaiian pizza tomorrow. Boring I know but I have all the ingredients for that and it really is my favourite pizza.
Hopefully DH has got the message that less is best Katie, it's so easy to just keep adding the toppings but that is so unItalian isn't it?
I will be interested to hear if the pita bases are as good as homemade dough too. If there is no noticeable difference it makes you wonder why we would bother and I might even be able to shed the guilt feeling I would have by not making my own :-)) Did you get 2 cutters with your pizza maker? Don't know why we would need 2, I'm sure there should only have been 1 in there.
-
Do you mean these things Judy? I thought they were for lifting the pizza off the stone, like spatulas? I didn't think they were cutters. I better go read the booklet!(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/05/uqusa4yz.jpg)
-
I am sure they are for lifting the pizza off the stone Katie. I have been using them this way for years now.
Maybe I am wrong ???
JD I truly prefer home made pizza dough. It's a personal preference but I like mine thin and the bought onesnare thicker..
My DD loves Bazzar brand and says I am crazy making my own ;)
-
No, I would be the one whose wrong :P I haven't read the book yet but yes I can see they would be lifters. Silly me, might have worked it out when I went to put the pizza on the stone. Thanks girls.
-
You are welcome Judy :)
Hopefully we are right :)
-
I couldn't find the bases Maddy recommended so bought the Bazzar brand that JulieO uses.
Will make my own eventually but I have a big weekend entertaining wise and don't the time just now.
-
My DD swears by them Michele so you won't go wrong. Seems like lots of people use them. I just like mine really thin which is why I like to make my own .
-

Is it something special on the weekend Michele?
-
That's good to know MF.
Nothing special, just family and friends getting together at our home. I'm excited that my brother and SIL are coming. There is only my brother and myself and we are fairly close. DB and SIL have been on holiday so haven't seen them for about 3 months. They will pick mum up on the way. And I will have all the children and spouses, girl/boy friends except my daughter and SIL, they already had plans.
-
The silver thingies are for lifting the pizza on and off the stone, I put the base on these make the pizza and then put on the stone.
Had the bazaar bases last night as the others were sold out. They don't crisp as well as the Pittes brand but still nice.
-

I have a huge spatula. It came with the pizza stones.
-
We have one of those big spatulas as well Mich. It came with our BBQ pizza stones. It's the biggest spatula I've ever seen!
-
How do you go storing it Katie? They are good but where do you put when it's not in use?
-
We keep it, along with the BBQ pizza stones in the BBQ, in the underneath cupboard thing.
They are wrapped in tea towels and the BBQ has a cover, so they stay clean.
-
Hi
Has anyone tried to print off the list of pizza toppings from CP a couple of pages ago. I tried to print it off but its all blurry. Help please as I would love this list.
Thanks :) :) :) :)
-
Yes haybray - had that problem too - Another forum member, Rob, answered my query and apparently the settings were too low. We may need to ask CP to repost . . .
-
That's a shame. I had to downsize it so it would be acceptable. Maybe PM me your email address and when I get a chance next week I will send you the details in an attachment.
-
CP, just a thought and you probably tried it already...can you not just copy from word doc and paste it here?
-
No I don't have a word doc as I had to scan it off a page that I didn't save when I should have.
-
Well my first batch of pizzas have been made. 1.5 eaten, 1 given to Mum, 1 in the freezer and 1/2 to have with other leftovers for tea tonight. I am thrilled to bits with this new machine and the fact that I now finally get the crispy bottoms that have been lacking on my previous pizzas. I still got myself in a mess with ingredients, utensils etc everywhere over the limited working space in my kitchen but I'm sure I will get better at it with practice.
Today I made the pizza dough from the EDC which made 4 pizzas - I used to only make 3 but I didn't rush the proving times today and managed to get the 4 quite easily. Used bought pizza sauce as I recently had to buy so many Leggo's products to get a free book, made 3 ham, cheese & pineapple plus a bacon, asparagus, red onion and cheese.
I cooked my home made bases for 6 minutes but kept checking after 3 minutes with the first one to make sure I wasn't overcooking it. I used reusable silicon liners which were easily picked up to and from the machine.
I must say I was surprised with the light weight of this machine as I was expecting something heavy like the George Foreman Grill.
-
Congratulations,, JD - they look fabulous!! No wonder you're pleased with them!! :D
-
Looks great Judy! I might have to invite myself for lunch ;D
-
Thanks girls, I enjoyed my pizza making morning - making a mess is better mid-morning rather than for the evening meal ;)
-
They make pizza making a pleasure. :)
They look yummy JD. Put me in the mood, maybe tomorrow
-
They look delicious Judy, yay for working the first time around. :D
-
I would have been devastated if it didn't work Julie but with others going before me, it was easy to read up and take it all in. I thank you all for your input into this machine, hands on experience and word of mouth just cannot be beaten.
-
Well done, Judy. They reheat well on 2 for 2 mins. Think this machine is about to get a real work out. Judy I also had problems with the mess. I ended up putting a wooden board over the gas rings and put the pizza machine there.
Must go, the Sour Dough base is ready.!!!!!
-
Yes I sit mine on an old breadboard on the stove top as there's an elec socket nearby, then my bench can be used for setting out the ingredients etc.
You'll find a way as you use it more Judy, I couldn't think of cooking my pizzas any other way now. I usually make my own bases, but the others are handy to have in the freezer, (separated by baking paper) for those times when you can't be bothered.
I think the true test is after you've had one for a while and think "would I replace this if it broke down" My answer would be a loud YES! ;D
-
Great recommendation Julie, pizza's look good JD everyone is having fun with their machines. NO I DO NOT NEED ONE, NO I DO NOT NEED ONE.....
-
HaHa, Brenda, yes you do.
-
Well done Judy they look great :)
-
Lovely pizzas Judy. ;) It's always great to hear that people get into a cooking mess like me :D
-
Pizzas look great Judy. I also put my machine on a board on top of the gas cook top under the exhaust fan. Gives me a bit more room on the bench. Still make a mess though with different toppings in bowls every where so you are not alone.
Aussie Brenda --- Yes you do
Marie
-
:'( My pizza burnt on the bottom. Cooked on 2 1/2 for 8 mins. Top perfect. Bottom burnt.
DH and his daughters went out for fish and chips. :(
-
Was it your own dough base Michele and did you start checking it after 3 minutes? It is quite OK to open the lid and do so.
-
Brenda yes you do
-
Was it your own dough base Michele and did you start checking it after 3 minutes? It is quite OK to open the lid and do so.
Yes Jd. The top was going well, didn't smell like the bottom was burning. It was a bazzar base.
-
I think that was the problem Michele, the book says 4-5 mins for bought bases.
-
The base may have been OK at 4-5mins, although the topping was perfect at 8 mins.
-
Oh, Michele that is awful. haven't used any of the bought bases yet but does sound like it was too long. Did you have it on baking paper?
-
:'( My pizza burnt on the bottom. Cooked on 2 1/2 for 8 mins. Top perfect. Bottom burnt.
DH and his daughters went out for fish and chips. :(
Bummer Michele!
I would say 8 minutes was far too long with bought base....what were your toppings? Usually I only cook the thick pita bases with varied toppings for 3 minutes...4 minutes at absolute max.
I would suggest cooking at no. 2, until you get the feel for it, and then you can gauge the best timing for the bases used.
-
Mich I found the bazaar base thicker and not as good as the pittes ones that were out of stock, the bazaar base did not cook all the way through like the pittes ones they were nice and crisp, maybe you had too much topping?????
-
Oh, Michele that is awful. haven't used any of the bought bases yet but does sound like it was too long. Did you have it on baking paper?
Yes Chookie had it on baking paper and that was burnt as well. I checked it every 2 mins to see how it was going.
I had to bin a lot of my cooking yesterday, wasn't having a very good day, cooking wise.
Lunch today will be very basic.
-
That's such a shame Michele but don't stress as we all have days like that. :(
Next time your pizzas will be perfect and the rest of your cooking too.
-
Yes, I'll follow all the tips above and give it another try later in the week. :)
-
My pizza machine arrived yesterday - YAY - pizzas for dinner tonight (with luck) - I'll have to go right through this thread as well as all the others to see how everything and everyone has got on with theirs and get some topping suggestions and ideas.
-
Yes, I'll follow all the tips above and give it another try later in the week. :)
Michele, I find that when I get a new machine, I need to play with it to understand what it will do. The chooks eat very well while I am playing. You will get a good result.
-
Still waiting for mine :(
-
I picked up some fruit and veggies at a lovely spot just before we came away and noticed that they had Theo (of the pizza book) frozen pizza bases.
-
Yay! Mine arrived yesterday. I knew it would because I made oven pizza the day before!
I made pizza with the thin and crispy base which were perfect. Today, I made two more using Bazaar wholemeal pitta breads. Just as nice. I didn't actually time them, but about 4 minutes.
My criticism of the machine would be the lack of timer and also the fact that there's no grip on the bottom of the legs. I find it slides around on the bench because it's so lightweight.
I have found that the baking paper burns if it's larger than the pizza base. I thought I might cut up some silicone and use that rather than throwing away heaps of circles of baking paper all the time.
-
I thought I might cut up some silicone and use that rather than throwing away heaps of circles of baking paper all the time.
Do you mean those thin re-usable liners? I'm not sure how a thicker silicone would go as you probably wont get that crispy base. The only thing is, that you would not be able to cut up the pizzas on the liner. I have liners and paper, so I would be interested in what you think works better.
-
I have used both baking paper and a silicon liner. The paper burns around the edge and I slide the pizza off and cut on a wooden board which I take to the table. The silicon liner , I cut to circle shape and it is showing signs of burning around the edges. The base still crisps up with the silicon.
-
Good to know that the base is still crispy when using the silicone liner as I thought it wouldn't be as good as the baking paper :)
-
Guess what we are having today lol, it arrived late yesterday and I can't wait to start ;D
-
I didn't use the baking paper method because Katie told me it burns. I used a rectangular shaped thin silicon liner like Chookie would have (because she gave them to me :-*) but because I've only made 4 pizzas to date mine only has a slightly blackened ring where the pizza sat. I find that shape useful as I make the pizza on it and it's so easy to lift it onto the pizza stone then I just use the paddle thingies to lift it from the pizza stone onto a board to cut. I am hoping it will still last a long time before it needs replacing.
Chookie, can I please have the name of that particular brand and link to where you bought them as I want to get some more for gift giving.
-
I was going to ask that too Judy :)
-
Made our first pizzas last night (3 of them) with the Bazaar bases. Didn't use any liners and had no problems with lifting using the paddles - best to use both together than struggle with using just one. All pizzas turned out well and crispy. So pleased!!
-
Well done :) I will be using mine tomorrow night :)
-
If its like the "magic" brand of liners, I got some from Aldi for about $2.50 each (?) pkt and there were 2 in the pkt. Cheap cheap, and well worth getting anyway.
-
Thanks CP ;D
-
I don't use any paper on the bottom and haven't had any problems I use the silver thingies (together) to make it on and slide into machine and then put silver thingies underneath when cooked and put on a chopping board perfect every time

Yvette, I used baking paper in case some of the topping slipped off onto the stone and burnt. I want it to stay nice and clean!
We don't have Aldi in WA, wish we did! I'll have to do a search to find some silicone sheets I can cut up.
-
MJ I haven't had toppings drop off if you use the silver thingies they seem to stay on ;)
-
What r the silver thingies yvette?
-
Yes it is the magic brand. Also have some from Simply Delightful. these are quite expensive. I think they came from Perth.
Website. Www.simplydelightful.com.au.
The Magic ones I have had for about 20 years. These ones I cut up. For example I lined my bread making machine bucket with one, and another for the pizza machine.
I can't see any difference in the 2 brands so go for the cheapest.
I also have some thick ones, like the silmat but these are too thick to use in the pizza machine. The base wouldn't brown.
Be careful when ordering as they have lots of different sizes.
I have just found the docket for the Simplydelightful, VERY expensive, shop around.
-
CP they came with the machine, they are silver and sort of a half circle with a little handle, did you not get them? There are two when put together they make a circle :)
-
Yvette the ones that came with my machine are wooden so they must have changed them. I just sprinkle mine with semolina to help stop the sticking. Yours are probably better

I may be worrying needlessly, but I have strong concerns about using the silicone liners in cooking, especially at the high heats, it just doesn't seem right to cook something on such an artificial surface then eat the product at the end - I would have concerns about chemicals used in the manufacturing process venting off or leaking into the food.
-
Oh really Marie that is interesting mine are a steel I am assuming all the new machines should have the steel ones
-
Mine are steel and I was surprised at how easy they were to use.
-
Yes Marina they are very effective
-
I never use these. These are really thin and flimsy. My pizzas just slide off the baking paper or I chop up the pizza with the paper on the chopping board to save mess
-
The new ones are really good CP really sturdy ;)
-
I saw this today, for anyone wanting the black one $140 (disregard if you find one cheaper).

The black one from Victoria's Basement is $129.00 plus postage (my total came to $141.00)
-
These are the metal paddles - Katie posted a picture further back in the thread but I thought I'd post them again for those who missed that conversation.
-
They look great! Good to use I should imagine, but me thinks ill stick to my baking paper :D
-
The silver thingies are for lifting the pizza on and off the stone, I put the base on these make the pizza and then put on the stone.
Had the bazaar bases last night as the others were sold out. They don't crisp as well as the Pittes brand but still nice.
Thanks Yvette, good to know.
I have a huge spatula. It came with the pizza stones.
This is what Katie and I use.
-
Mine are like yours CP.. I bought a silver one with a handle from Kitchen warehouse. I think it is a Pete Evans one.
-
Um, can I ask why people are using baking paper?
As the stone blackens, it becomes more non stick and seasoned (as long as you scrape off debris). Using semolina does stop fresh dough from sticking, and cooking directly on stone gives a crisper crust.
I would have thought paper and liners (which concerns me also Marina) defeats the purpose of the stone.
please feel free to put me back in my box :P
-
Maddy, wouldn't dream of putting you in any box,,,,!!!!!! I use the baking paper as it makes moving the uncooked and cooked pizza around easy. The base still crisps up nicely.
A word of warning. Don't use your machine on an unprotected LAMINATE bench as it may damage it.
-
Mine are the same as yours CP.
-
I agree Maddy no baking paper here just use the silver thingies and no problems :) :)

Fair call :)

I'm thinking of getting a couple of small pizza trays. I'll need to use them for GF pizza base anyway because that is very runny. I think I'll just use those instead of putting the pizza straight on the stone.
-
I bought pizza machine when they first came out, of course Grumpy complained that we would never use it, and what a waste of money
He is the one that uses it, so much so, that he bought another one for the boat.
We have pizzas most weekends, either for our group of friends or just for the 2 of us, when we are boating we an sometimes have up to 15 people, so using the baking paper makes getting the pizza on and off the stone very easily, it is my job to cut the paper into circles, and that can be a pain when he is going to cook 10 plus pizzas.
-
Yeah, that's why I'm thinking smaller pizza trays are the way to go.
-
I use baking paper just for getting the pizzas on and off the stone, we usually make 2 or 4 ( or more ) at a time so making them on baking paper allows us to "production line" the cooking process, I just slide the cooked pizzas off the paper onto a bamboo paddle then onto a wooden board for chopping. I tried the two paddles but found it impossible to get a uncooked homemade base with the amount of toppings we have onto without making a BIG mess.
BTW I cook my pizzas on 3 1/2 for about 6 minutes that seems about perfect.

I am tempted to buy a pizza maker after reading all the rave revivers about newwave pizza makers. However, has anyone had any experience with G3 Ferrari Pizza Express Delizia Oven which I can get for "free" by using my altitude points. Anyone?????
-
Sorry courton, can't help you with that one. ???
-
No sorry :( :(

Yes, amazon reviews are very good but just wondered if forum members have used it
-
Fair enough - nothing like word of mouth, is there. :D

I asked about this one before I bought mine. The shop assistant said that you can't remove the baking stone and therefore can't replace it. You would need to check if this is correct.
