I am taking the boys down the beach for the school holidays tomorrow. It's just me and the boys, DH has to stay and work.
I am in two minds about taking the TMX - so tell me do you take yours away or do you just make do?
-
Always take mine for self catering trips. Would be lost without it.

We always take ours with us! (and the coffee machine too!) :-))

always take mine too snappy, would be lost without it.
-
it would depend on how long i was going away for, and the season
-
Ok - so want are your best easy meal tips then. I'm going for a week and as I will be cooking dinner whilst supervising two exhausted boys under 6 and giving them a bath Im trying to prepare a menu plan of no brainer meals
So far:
Meatballs (already made) and pasta
Pesto pasta
Beef stroganoff
Chicken fajitas
Sausages
Anyone got any other great suggestions?

Fried rice in TM is always a good filler for boys
Creamy Chicken and Avocado Fettucine with Bacon & Salami
Rissoto
Marinades
Anything quick & easy

I can't remember the thread but I think I remember CP taking her TMX away with her - planned the meals ahead before she left home and then packed the ingredients according to the meal - these were then put into a larger plastic bag. Meal all ready to pop into the TMX . . and Bob's your uncle!! Brilliant idea!! :D
-
I always take mine with me, when I have power. It is coming to SA with me. I might try CP's idea this time of having a few things pre prepared in plastic bags. I HOPE to go through all my TMX recipes that I have tested and copy them and have them bound. (the ones that will do for the van I should have said)

What a fantastic idea!!
Snappy I take mine away too.
I like making a few dips so that the kids can munch on all day.
Banana milo milkshakes
Custard for dessert with fresh fruit.

I don't take mine. have been tempted. Usually staying in Motels and moving every day. Also nice to eat out. Another advantage is that i come home with all sorts of ideas to try out.
Snappy, in your situation , I would take it, Pizza dough, good in TMX , with boys adding own toppings. Have fun.

Thanks for all the suggestions - particularly the fried rice Hally, my boy love it. And the pizza
I have done up a meal plan and just been grocery sopping and purchased all the ingredients so it should be nice and easy.
Whilst there is a little supermarket and fish and chip store in town there are no restaurants or places to eat out - so its self catering 3 meals a day

have fun Snappy on holidays..

Am late to this post. What's new?
I always cooked before a holiday when mine were small and froze the meals. For 10 years we went to a family owned house in Scotland, my ex never came, it was always me and the kids, sometimes friends plus kids came too. If they came they brought meals too.
That way almost no cooking. I wouldn't have had room for TMX in car even if had one then.
Shepherds pie, fish pie, bolognaise, stew, pizza, chicken in BBQ sauce, hotpot.
I only had to cook rice, or pasta, or it was an all in one meal.
It was cheaper too as food didn't come out of my holiday budget.
Hope you had a good time.
Even with TMX I'd still do same given time over again.
