Lamb Marinade
Ingredients
4 tablespoons lemon juice
4 teaspoons curry powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons paprika
2 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons oil
Preparation
Put the garlic in the bowl and wizz.
Add all the other ingredients and blend together.
This is lovely on lamb of any sort. Chops or steaks or back straps etc. I marinade it for at least an hour.

Just a dumb question from a pom.Very often the word " backstrap" is mentioned in a recipe referring to a cut of meat, could you tell me what it is ;D
-
a lamb backstrap CC - lovely cut and it's the equivalent of a beef fillet, pork fillet or chicken tenderloin.
-
CC, i have asked my butcher for backstraps but he said that to get them would use a lot of good lamb & they were not worth it.
Hope this helps, I think it would mean I woudnt get rack & another cut just for a backstrap.

Thanks Judy and Hally :-* :-* :-* I think it's called "lamb loin fillet" here but OMG it's fiercely expensive at £27.56 per kg. :o
-
It is the meat that you find in loin chops, just in a big piece. I got some cheaply a while ago and used this marinade, yum. I had never had it before.
-
Yummy, I might make up a small jar full and keep it in the refrigerator . I might make two batch's one with fresh lemon juice and one with the Meyer Lemon powder when it is ready.

I halved this cos I only had 4 little frenched lamb chops and half a lemon. Was probably a bit too much mix for that. But cookie this is a really tasty spice mix and we thoroughly enjoyed our meat. I can't be certain but the lemon may have tenderized the lamb in the hour that it marinated cos it was baby soft. thanks cookie one for my favorites :-*
