Hi everyone ... I know this question has been in the forum before but the replies focused more on the various sizes of Tablespoons.
I would like to know if a Thermomix recipe calls for 20g oil, can I just add 1Tablespoon (Aussie one, of course). Or do I have to be guided by the Thermomix scales ... which would require more oil.

I would just use a tablespoon measure sammidog, it is more accurate for such a small amount. I usually just pour in what I think I need and often use less than the recipes call for.

In most cases what is 5g or whatever going to make to the difference of a recipe

I find it interesting that despite the fact that TMX doesn't weigh small increments very accurately most of the recipe books still refer to weight rather than spoon sizes. What I have done in my books is write next to the ingredients how much it is by spoonfuls. It is also interesting how the TMX books don't refer to the MC that much when it is such a great for measuring according to the guide at the front of the EDC.

I guess also it is to everyone's preference ... I HATE having to get out my spoons and cups and have more dishes so as much as I can ingredients get weighed in my recipes and I will write the weights of oil, butter etc on my recipes instead of the spoon/cup measurements ;) ;) I do suffer for the small amounts of spices etc that really can't be weighed :-)) :-))

For small measures I tend to put the tmx bowl on digital scales. I find the 10g increments on the tmx quite frustrating.

Use the Tmx scales for everything and haven't any problems yet. :) :)
