Hi everyone,
My DH is from Guatemala and just brought home some black beans. Does anyone know how to cook these in thermy?
Thanks.

Montoya, maybe this (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com.au/2010/02/black-eyed-pea-stew.html) posting on Quirky Jo's blog may help.

I've never cooked blackbeans, but I suspect they would be like red kidney beans.  I would tend to use a pressure cooker if you have got one.  As with all beans, make sure you rinse them and rinse them and rinse them again.  Then, when they are cooked, you will enjoy them without any 'windy' consequences.

Unfortunately I don't have a pressure cooker, Cuilidh, but will definitely rinse them a number of times. ;)

I have made some non TM black bean brownies. They were good. I took them to work and did not tell anyone that they were made from beans until after they tried them. They were a hit.

I am in the middle of making Quirky Jo's dish now. Thanks everyone for the cornbread recipes but I don't have all the ingredients so I may just revert back to isis' portuguese rolls. The black bean brownies look so good too. :D

When I lived overseas we ate a lot of black beans (yummy). One of the yummiest things I ate was a black bean type of salsa.  It had corn, tomato, onlion and lime juice and jalepeno's.  Google a recipe.  it was delicious.

I would say that would be it or similar.  I am going to save that recipe and then find some black beans.  I forgot the coriander, it def had that.  It was soooo yummy and fresh.  I wish I could have it know.
