Title: What are your two 'go to' recipes
Post by: SuzieG on August 31, 2012, 09:43:16 am
What are your two all time favourite go to recipes? One sweet one savoury.

Savoury: I'll go my modified EDC version of spaghetti bolognaise ragu.

Sweet: fast becoming addicted to lemon Curd (Tenina's, also from the forum).

I know I have heaps more but only two....

What are yours?

KFC chicken (from the forum) with a yummy fresh salad

And sweets would be Apple crumble

Hmmm..... :-))

Savoury: probably risotto, because there is always something in the fridge or pantry I can throw in to add flavour.

Sweet: this would just be good old custard, but depending on the occasion I'd add chocolate, brandy or other flavours to it.

Can't wait to hear what others say :)

Chelsea's stroganoff is top of the list  :-*
sweet, I don't make desserts often, so the most regular sweetish thing I make is Nigella's choc chip banana muffins

It's on her blog here http://fulllittletummies.blogspot.com.au/2010/06/filling-tummies-with-beef-stroganoff.html
Have made it that many times  :-* I don't add the cayenne, but everything else the same.  if using blade steak, you may have to cook a few more minutes   ;)

I'm not too sure of the mains, possibly a roast as it is so easy. The sweets would be golden syrup dumplings.

Lamb chops and salad or veg (preferably bbq'd but it's too cold in Canberra for that at the moment)
Banana bread - from Nigella Lawson's How To Be A Domestic Goddess.

Savoury would have to be Nico Moretti's chicken, chilli and basil (like a Thai green chicken curry really).
Sweets would have to be ILB's chcocolate cake.

If we're talking strictly TMX recipes here, it would have to be Rainbow's Easy Carbonara (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3442.0).
I've made a huge number of variations of this one recipe and I just adore it.
My sweet go to would more than likely be my Easy Sticky Date Puddings and Caramel Sauce (http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/easy-sticky-date-pudding/40958). I realised I haven't put this recipe on the forum, must do so.

My favourite's are Chelsea's Bangers and Mash (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3821.0) and Baf's Chicken (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5526.0) using Maddy's Lemon & Basil Sauce variation (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1063.msg41184#msg41184). These kinds of meals are the reason I got my Thermomix, to cook beautiful meals quickly and easily.

I try not to look at the sweet's recipes, I'm TRYING to lose weight, but Bimby Chocolate Cake (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1097.0) is pretty fantastic.

Chilli Con Carni from the EDC. I think that meal is going to be overtaken by Pizza  ;D

We have just bought the black Pizzza Oven and I have par cooked a few GF pizza bases and frozen them.  So easy to take out and by the time it takes to put on a few toppings, the oven is preheated and ready to go.

Desserts are usually frozen banana and raspberries. Mix together on 9 until blended then whip with the butterfly on about 6 until silky smooth. Yum.

Hi ElleG.  Go back to your manual and have a look for the Butterfly instructions.  Take care, or it may fly off and you'll have chopped butterfly in the icecream.  The top speed for butterfly is 4.

This is a tough question! My "fall back" savory recipe would be chicken tikka masala, I always have tikka paste on hand.
I don't make many desserts, but my "go to" biscuit recipe would be dede's choc chip cookies.

I'ld have to say Chookie's favourite quiche recipe and 2 second salad - easy and so delicious.
Snack - JD's mini chicken and veg loaves.
I always have a batch of JD's converted caramelised onion and mushroom tarts in the freezer too.
