I made the cherry bites with a kick. They are brandy infused so don't eat them all at once and then drive.

This was my contribution. A selection of ten biscuit recipes that I have created or adapted with photos. The cover has Mr Shuffles, the baby elephant born at Taronga park zoo some time ago. They thought he would not be born alive and if he was he would have big problems. He was born fit and well as you can see. I do love elephants, especially any ones.

Thanks for modelling the mug hug Geoff! Its so good to see you at home :D

As you can see from Judy's photo, you wrap the mug hug around your mug and fasten it with a button. Most of the buttons I used were little teapots, but I used some love hearts as well. The idea is that it keeps your drink hot and stops you burning your hands. And it looks pretty of course ;D

I just thought they would be cute, and I could make a different one for each person :)

Cookie & CP, love your recipe books - more for my TMX collection.  Have not done any of your recipes Cookie so a whole heap of new things to try.  Very spoilt to get a copy of CP's favourite recipes so far - what a big job that was.
Had one of your cherry bites DD, delicious - can't wait to see what you changed in the original recipe.
ES - the frangipane is my favourite flower.  Now I will have to make something to show them off.  Interested to hear how long they will last too.
Gretchen, vanilla beans always handy to have, thank you.  Looks like you are spending some time in bed to recover from your re-retreat illness.  I hope you can shake it off before your catwalk debut on Saturday.
Chookie & Ral - picked your presents without having to be told who they were from.  Great ideas for the goodie bags.
The Myer gift - wow, how cool was that!
Helene, well what can one say about your contribution.  We've read about them and now we've all seen and love them.
Tenina, lovely little goodie bag within the goodie bag and one only has to look up a recipe in your FFS book or visit your website to find a recipe which uses them.
Mmse, just tried your lovely nuts - great combination of spices and sweetness, different to anything I've tried before.  Well done you for getting your gift together at such short notice.
Gill, loved the card.  There is nothing like a hand-made card to send to a special friend.
Michele, your dukkah is the best one I have tasted (not too heavy on middle eastern spices) and I'll try it on scrambled eggs and chicken.
Nazar, I always carry a packet of those tissues around in my handbag and pens, well I love pens as a lot of my friends will tell you. If someone goes on a holiday and brings me back a pen, I get very excited.  Your gifts suited me right down to the ground.
Cecilia, I believe the CD was your contribution and I finally got around to playing it this morning.  I am not into that type of music but I did enjoy a few numbers and think it was a great goodie bag gift.

More comments as people identify their gift.

Well I would say  by not acknowledging  our little retreat  how little we are valued. All the good work we all do by promoting the Thermothingy is worth nothing. . We are worth nothing to them even though we share with everyone our knowledge our recipes our  enthusiasm not to mention how we encourage those people who are unsure to give it a go.

While  they continue to  harass, harangue and threaten consultants and others WE are here being positive, looking forward and spreading the good things about the Thermothingy.

Just think how much goodwill we spread all over the Margaret River.  People who have never heard  of the Thermothingy are googling  as we speak.  We told hundreds about our forum and it was all good.  We were great ambassadors. Good  grief if we had thought to bring a few machines I have no doubt we could  have flogged them.

If the negative  attitude continues  it discourages anyone from wanting to have anything to do with the company. Perhaps we should be sending the message to Vorwerk in Germany that we are not happy with the  lack of support  from the local distributor. Instead  of complaining  amongst ourselves maybe  we should let them know how much WE all care especially about their reputation as an ethical entity.

Personally I am sick of the them and us. It is ludicrous.  It is as if this forum does not exist with the consultants forbidden even to mention us. A great resource for all  and not utilised to everyone's advantage.  What is the point?

Now I have to knock on Helene's door. There  is another great ambassador for the Super Kitchen Machine AKA/Thermothingy

I can't tell you how much I LOVE IT! Chookie has been very kind and has given me a few lessons, and I had an iPhone before so I have a little background knowledge. I'm going to go crazy with posting pics as that was one thing about using my camera or mobile phone to upload that started to get a bit time consuming for me. I am sure there must be some way to reduce the size of the pic as when viewed back in my PC it is a very big pic that needs to be scrolled up and down, and across yet on iPad shows up in tapatalk as being small and well sized. I've bought some apps, a couple of books and magazines and have my incoming emails linked up and will try and link up outgoing emails within next day or so (different server). I bought a little stand so that it can be propped up in the kitchen for reading recipes. Happy days  :D Am going to buy a cover ... any suggestions which one is the best?

A cover that protects the edges and thin and light enough to carry in your handbag. One that you can easily use when taking a photo. I have had five. The one I use most is the STM from JB HI FI and other places. Leather is good for a man but too heavy for us and our handbags.

Can't wait to try it
(http://img.tapatalk.com/76d2033f-acdf-c9db.jpg)

My marshmallow fondant flowers will last for ages- probably 6 months or so. It is best to store them in a covered container that is not airtight or they may soften. Sorry I can't be more precise :)

Saving the mustard for a great sausage I bought in MR, and as for the fondant flowers, they have been stored for a special occasion cake…you never know when they will show up on the blog kids!

LOVED everything in the bag…did I say this already?? It was like Christmas for grownup foodies! hahaha

What publicity?

We could easily sold the bus driver a THERMOTHINGY on the spot. Imagine him  being so close to Perth, making the kind of food  which was born for the THERMOTHINGY and not having a clue. Someone needs to get down there for some major demos and not the bloody " Back to Basics" . I have never understood the name even. Basic  yes but back to???? How about a Thermomix Cooking for Intelligent  Creative People class.

Gert
Title: Re: GOODIES BAG
Post by: Yvette on August 30, 2012, 01:09:47 am
Yes Gert they could be selling thousands more if they did publicity and offered interest free payment terms all the time for people that can't afford to pay outright.
Title: Re: GOODIES BAG
Post by: gertbysea on August 30, 2012, 01:43:54 am
Even with the interest free offer it isn't . You still have to pay the upfront set up fees for the finance provider. HO does not actually do that as it is outsourced no doubt someone gets a cut from every one  sold using that provider.

Publicity costs money.

BTW I wonder if that  money has been sent to the Devils yet? I have heard no publicity about that happening. You think that would be news worthy at least in Tassie. How  much was it supposed to be?

Did you know that in Cowaramup  the  gift shop there sold  Tenina the ThermoMixtress book For Food's Sake? Pretty savvy people in the Margaret River.  They want her to do a book signing. That is how many they sell in a tiny town but with lots and lots of tourists.

Just an observation - the TMXs have been c. $2,000 for several years now.  Has anyone thought about the profit percentage that HO is making now that the Australian dollar is so strong against the euro?  Two years ago the exchange rate was somewhere in the .60s, now it is in the .80s (I had the figures yesterday and lost them, sorry I'm not so exact with them today).  Anyway, what it boils down to is, with the strong dollar, if HO was being honest with its customers, they should drop their prices (it would have made all of us annoyed, but at least it would be fair to new customers).  Lower prices would, of course, also make the accessories cheaper.

I am a bit suspicious also as to why they have got a special on the second jug again after it was last on special not so long ago ... I won't go any further into this, but several possible scenarios come to mind.  I know I am being cryptic here, but this is a public forum and you have to be wary at times about what you say.

Gert, You're very clever ! Another distributor is a great idea ! Cuilidh I have long thought that about the exchange rate ! And lets not forget they would be getting a lot better pricing since they are a distributor !  It's ridiculous.  I have two friends interested in purchasing a Thermothingy through our school, and how can you justify paying another $400 or so dollars extra for the same thing and for what ?  I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and another family I know has one now too and  the word is spreading !

We could get them to train my techo head husband to fix the Thermothingy's !   I'm off to send an email now !!

Not at all clever just annoyed like so many.  Thanks for sending an email. Short and sweet and maybe a few can make a change for the better. If Vorwerk are not aware that the machine is sold here for more than their other distributors are charging they may get the message.

The Thermomix business model is structured on direct selling, with customers introduced to the product either through paid consultants, by word of mouth or through cooking demonstrations run by the company on a regular basis.

"The direct-selling model works in a way where we have the consultants, who are doing in-house demonstrations," Mazur says.

"That way we can provide exceptional customer care and, as a customer, you will get to see the product, to taste it, and feel it. We then do a delivery demonstration one-on-one, we unpack the product, we let them have a go at it to make sure they are comfortable, and we then do another demonstration to make sure we cover all their skills. It's a total journey for our customers."

Mazur has 950 consultants working for her across Australia and New Zealand, each reporting to a team leader. Each team leader has 20 consultants in their team, and in turn reports to a branch manager, who has seven team leaders under their direction.

Mazur says she is in the process of putting area managers in place to manage the various branch managers around the country.

"People start as consultants, then become team leaders and then branch managers," she says.

"They all know the business model and how it works and know exactly what needs to be done. "There is a whole structure under Thermomix in Australia and we develop the managers that way. It took us a while at the beginning to find the right people, but we are managing it all from the head office and it's going very well."

At $1939 a pop, including GST, the Thermomix is by no means a cheap appliance, but it is at the high end of the appliance chain, and the proof has definitely been in the pudding on a revenue level.

Mazur's team sold about 15,000 units last year across Australia and New Zealand, equating to sales of about $29 million, and she says the company is on target for 23,000 units this year.

"We are growing by 100 per cent each year and we want to maintain the growth," she says.

"We're growing so quickly, so we have to ensure that we have the infrastructure in place to match that growth. The Thermomix is a way of life. We want to make sure every customer has a chance to enjoy it and ensure they become raving fans because they love the product so much."

I am thrilled that you are learning theipad tips and tricks. Makes life so much easier eh?  And it is fun.  I made a shortcut for Tenina the ThermoMixtress  (TEN)  because  I would think that that name could possibly be gone as so many other names have disappeared. Crazy eh?

If we can start a small revolution that may help others like us in  the future it cannot be a bad thing. Just making Vorwerk aware that many are unhappy may be of benefit.  Maybe we can stop the bullying antics. That would be nice.

Gert

In case everyone is wondering what Gretchen is talking about, it was my post about quitting as a consultant. I deleted it because I don't officially finish until tomorrow. But, what the heck, it's only a day!

I really enjoyed doing the demos, but found the traveling to be too costly and time consuming. I couldn't buy the food required for the demos in my home town, so had to plan my purchases when in Katanning or Albany. I was planning my life around my demos!

There were many other issues that caused me to quit, but I don't want to mention them here because I know who reads these posts!

This might just be the person to write to MJ. Several of us have already sent him a message as he is the marketing manager who may be able to do something about it.

If enough of us write perhaps they will start to take notice and realise there is a problem and their brand is  being tarnished . We want Vorwerk to be reading these posts . They are the ones who have the power to change things . When they realise the many consultants as well as customers are not happy they may take  action.  A second distributor would be the ultimate solution. There is nothing better than a bit of competition  to shake things up.

There is no question that TMX Australia is price gauging. You only have to look at ebay to see the difference in prices between $1939 and what they're selling for, including postage on ebay. If these o/s sellers can afford to sell the machines for around $1200 plus postage then clearly what we pay in OZ is over the top given the high Australian Dollar.

Even a short email asking for an new distributor  might help.  No thanks to me Courton as  it is not hard to get info on the web if you know where to look.

I wonder if we will get a reply.  If anything making Vorwerk aware may stop the bully tactics.

Long day! Right times but 12 hours ahead of myself  :-)) that's the problem with my business you are always dealing with days other than the present. Oh well, I do know Chookie is now in the car heading towards the airport...sun is shining, Perth should look lovely as she flies out

I thought of you both this  morning at 8.30 Chookie and thought you would have left. It is raining here now so a good time to head home.

CP I have all my recipes in a file but still love your gift as there are some in there that I haven't tried. You have inspired me to put together a collection of recipes for the caravan and bind them. :-*

I have my favourites in a  folder with plastic leaves in it. Actually I have two now. This would be especially for the van. I must go through my first folder and take out a few of the things that we had but were only ok. I'm more confident with the thermothingy now.
I try to take a photo and print it to go with them recipe. Now I have tapatalk I have been slacking a bit.

Google blurb, I was thinking about doing it for my recipes. $44.95 for 120 pages with a soft cover. Cheaper than using inkjet or laser printer. It is an Australian Co. 220 pages, $65.95. Can have a hard cover too. If you can use Adobe InDesign you can really make it look good.

Thanks Sue.

Amy I take the photo when I cook the item and then print a few when I go to the shops. I can get it for anything between 9 cents and 15 cents at Big W.

I have a master template I have made up for TMX recipes which I type up after making recipes, add photo and any notes while it's fresh in my head.

I'll try and post a photo later or see if I can attach an example.

I print them off and place in a plastic folder like cookie too. Cheaper that way.

So this is an example of the recipes I type out. (I haven't attached a document before so not sure if it will work).

I have it set out so that I just type new information for recipes and add a photo.

I thought it did - I think you have to open the document titled 'Milk Bread' at the bottom of my post. It seems to work for me but let me know if it doesn't work for others.

I used to do a bigger picture but found I couldn't fit it with some long recipes so now I use a smaller photo.

Depends which version of Word you have - mine isn't up to date enough for the .docx file to open.

By the way, speaking of Goody Bag gifts, I thought I'd share the TSO dates for their performance of Romeo and Juliet with the Australian Ballet - 10-14 October at Burswood Entertainment Complex.  There is further info at http://www.australianballet.com.au .

Hope you are all well and cooking up a storm.  It's a shining day here, if windy.  :)

It's very impressive Tasty - how did you set up the template?

Tasty what a marvellous idea. Does it take a lot of time? Did you use a template? The only thing I don't like about my collection is that they all look different. I'd love them to be the same.
Also wow I didn't know you could attach documents. Please teach me how. :-*

Hi Cookie
When you are posting there is a button lower left hand corner that says Additional Options hit that, it will then let you browse you computer to find the file you wish to attach.

If not, would I be able to have it, please?

Katie, Hally was after it too. I was sure I had posted it but obviously not. I can't remember what combination of nuts I used, that was on the bottom of the container. What I can give you is the the recipe with quantities that I use. I vary the flavours as to what I have in the cupboard or is on special .
