I am making a lime/coconut cake and a lime/mandarine cake (excess citrus in the house) and when they are finished, I would like to pour a citrus syrup over the cakes. Do I sit the cakes in a solid container, so that they end up "sitting" in the excess syrup - or do I put them on a cake rack sitting over a container, and let the excess syrup run off underneath?
Any hints greatly welcome!

Hi Karen,
When I have made cakes with syrup, I leave the cake in the tin, prick some holes in the top with a skewer and pour the syrup over while the cake is still hot. Then leave the cake to cool completely in the tin. This has always worked well for me ;D

Thanks Amy! One cake was out of the tin and cooling, so I popped it back into the tin, and as soon as the second cake came out of the oven I syruped both of them. cant wait to taste them ;)

No worries Karen, I hope they're really yummy! :D

Hi Karen, Hope you enjoyed your cakes. Like Amy I usually leave them in the tin before turning out, just make sure you have baking paper on the base so that they don't stick!!!

When I make the lemon coconut cake, I leave in the tin for the syrup too.
I have lemon and lime juice frozen, all the time.. :)
