OK, this is possibly the stupidest question asked on this forum. If I mill my own grain, does the grain weigh as much as the resulting flour? So, if a recipe calls for 50g of flour, if I weigh in 50g of grain and mill it myself, will it still be the same amount? So sorry in advance!!!!!

You are exactly right Brrunington :) 50g grain will give you 50g flour

I'm so glad you asked that question Brumington! I've been wanting to ask it for ages but it felt too silly :-)) :-)) :-))
Thank you :-* ;D

I kind of thought this was the case (I mean, where would it disappear to if it was going to be lighter?), but it always seemed to me that the resulting flour looked so much less in weight - if that makes any sense at all! I always questioned the whole ice v water thing too! Thank you for helping faffa! LOL Amy, always rely on me to embarrass myself ;)

I thought exactly the same thing you did Brumington, don't worry ;)
But I just stand back and wait for someone else to dive in ;D
Don't be embarrassed though, I admire your bravery! :D

I used to wonder about this one until I tested it a couple of times as I was making bread. As Faffa says no questions are too silly and there is always others wondering about the same thing. I'm still learning after 3½ years.

Thank you all for being so kind while faced with my stupidity!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I also wondered the same thing. Also, what is the maximum amount you can mill at one time?

From the Fast and Easy Coobook Tips and Hints pages
Wheat Flour. 300g wheat grains............. 1- 11/2 minutes/ speed 10
500g wheat grains ............ 11/2 to 2 minutes/ speed 10
Brush out with a dry bush.

No question is too silly, believe me we all have them. It saves waiting and wondering.
