I bought to old fashion loaf tins at the op shop I tried a date loaf in them and was not that keen on it. What are your suggestions?
-
B, was this an enclosed round tin with lids on each end?
-
Sure is tried to up load a photo on my iPhone but wasn't able
-
B, this is a nut loaf tin. Lots of good recipes especially for these tins.

I remember my Mum making these in those round tins. She only place the lid onto one end and just let it rise as she found that easier than having lids on both ends. I usually make my nut loaves in a just a log tin. If it's the dates/walnuts that you don't like I have a nice recipe for an apricot loaf that I would be happy to PM you.

Thanks Trudy love to try it. I love dates and walnuts just found the one I made a bit dry and heavy

B, used to make a lot of these years ago. They were always a bit heavy, but shouldn't be dry.

I have my nans date and walnut loaf somewhere. It's soooo good will dig it out!
-
Most of the things I make in my nutloaf tins have a little bit of butter spread on them before eating.
-
I actually have one of those, might have to dust it off, love date & walnut loaf...
-
I have a couple of those tins too
I love date & walnut loaf, pity I can't make it as my DH has a nut allergy :(

Katie the Malt Loaf recipe would work in this tin. No nuts. You would use just 1/2 the mixture and stand it on its end to bake..
