Totally off topic, but it bought back a memory and made me smile (should be in the happy thread)
You making cupcakes for your mums wedding Amy. DH and I have only been married for 2 years and I didn't want a fuss as it is secomd time round for both of us. I wanted to elope and DH said he wanted his children there as they had never seen him get married before??? I explained that most peoples children don't see their parents get married because you get married and then have the kids. :-)) We ended with only our children attend and it worked out well as my DD and SIL were witnesses.

Lovely Michele.

That sounds lovely Michele :D I think my mum and step-dad have only been married a couple of years too. I can't actually remember exactly when it was :-)) We only had a small wedding for them too, about 20 people I think, so a bit bigger than yours. I made all the food and we had the wedding at my step-dad's sister's house. None of my step-dad's children were there, they don't approve of the marriage I don't think :-\ But I don't like them anyway so it doesn't matter to me :-))
Hally, just another idea for some quick finger food: its not exactly "healthy", but you could roll up slices of good quality meat and cheese and secure them with toothpicks. You could even spread a little bit of dip or something down the middle before you roll them up. I've seen that done at parties before and it always seems popular ;)
Are you going to have some little sandwiches?
-
Where did you learn to cook Amy? Doesn't sound (I am probably wrong) like mum does much cooking.
-
Just at home Michele :) I watched my mum a lot in the kitchen when I was younger and I taught myself things as well. Mum used to work full time so I would cook things when she wasn't home (naughty I know :-))). I've always loved being in the kitchen and I love reading recipe books. I started learning how different flavours work together and the different properties of ingredients. When mum became unwell I took over all of the cooking, and its just never changed back. I think it would feel too weird if mum started doing all the cooking again since I have been doing it for so long :-))
She does cook a meal sometimes though, but I'm usually hanging around helping out or cleaning up as she goes along. Its funny how it works, sometimes I feel like it should be the other way around :-\

i still have not developed my wedding photos, 31years this nov :-))
small wedding are the best Mich. we only had 100ppl at our wedding, thats small for an italian wedding ,friends getting married in the same year had 300plus
-
Omg Uni only 100 Italian wedding is small. We had about 70 plus wedding party. Tried to keep it small and intimate. We had a country wedding and it was lovely. Groomsmen and DH wore moleskin pants, white shirt, vests, boots and Akubra hats. It was on a property near Branxton NSW. I don't have any photos to post ATM apart from this one of my very proud dad.

Yes JD I was a daddy's girl. Lots of special memories.

100 guests would have been small for an Italian wedding Uni.

Not a perfect picture, had to take a photo of a photo.
From L - R Geoff's son, us of course, my eldest DD, Geoff's step-daughter and my youngest DD.

Michele what a beautiful photo. It looks just perfect.
DG I miss my Dad too (it's been 15 years now) and I think if I put his photo up here I would cry everytime I saw it. Like you I was always Dad's girl and then my DD became Granpop's girl.
No wedding photos here you would all laugh too much. 40 years ago. I was also about 15kg lighter.
-
What a lovely photo JD. You look beautiful.
Cookie come on we won't laugh....... Much :)

I won't bore you with any more of my wedding photo's, I posted enough just after we were married 4 weeks ago.
Tonight is the second part of our unconventional wedding celebrations - the after party with all our family and friends (about 76 people coming). I'm really looking forward to it and I hope it will be a nice night.
-
Katie I'm sure it will be a wonderful celebration of your love to each other. Have a lovely evening.
-

jD, great to see :)

Judy, that is a gorgeous photo. Thank you so much for posting it :D
I don't think I'll be posting any photos on this thread for a while :-))
-
JD that's a great photo! You look way too young to have daughters for your bridesmaids.
Katie hope you have had a wonderful night tonight!
-
Wonderful wedding photo JD. :)
DG what a lovely picture of your Dad.I treasure the pictures of my Dad :)
-
Katie and Judy I am sure you will both have a lovely time tonight.
-
25 years ago I might have looked too young for my daughters to be that old Snappy but everything catches up with you and now I do look old enough to be the Mother of 46 & 42 year olds. In fact tonight at Katie's wedding bash, a few people thought I was her Mother which surprised me but when I thought about it, if I had had Katie when I was 18 I could be her Mum so we just have to accept we are getting older - and look it. ;D
I would post a photo of my first wedding in 1965 but I threw the album out ;D
-

I'm sure you're not the first woman to do that Judy ;D
-
Well we had a wonderful night, everyone seemed to have a great time. I have only just woken up, more tired than hungover!
We were touched by everyones generosity with the presents we received, especially Judy (thank you again).
Judy was sitting next to my Mum which was the only reason a couple of people did mistake her for my mother. I think thy must have been drunk!! Judy certainly doesn't look that old!
-
Glad you had a wonderful time last night Katie.
Did your guests know that you had got married or did you announce it last night?
-
Thanks Michelle. Yes everyone knew we were married. When we got married on 16th June it was a secret and the only people who knew we were married & came to the actually ceremony were our immediate family. After the wedding we posted invitations/announcements cards to our friends letting them know we were married & inviting them to the party. Everyone was surprised that's for sure!
-
How great is that. A nice relaxed celebration/reception.
-
DS got maried in bali a few years ago with only 20 of us, best wedding ever
-
Katie, what a way to get married. brilliant. :)
best wedding I went to, was BBQ, and about 8.30pm in walked a marriage celebrant. perfect. No one knew a thing...
-
Robyn, my friends did a similar thing. They sent invites to their engagement party. Just after everyone arrived, in came the bride on horseback. It was so lovely. Unfortunately the groom passed away this year and it is now making me sad thinking about that wonderful day.
-
Dizzy, it was perfect, heaps of fun, no stress....
