We had this discussion at home about rinsing the suds of hand washed dishes in clear water. I now that some friends don't do that and I'm wondering why this is so.
-
I ALWAYS rinse my dishes. I find that if you leave the suds on them, they leave little sticky patches when the dishes dry. And especially in glasses or mugs, it makes the next drink taste soapy :-X
I have friends who don't rinse their dishes and I can't understand it. Maybe they can't taste soap. Or they like it. I dunno :-))

What is hand washing of dishes? ;D

Gert
Its what we unfortunate people do who don't have the luxury of a dishwasher ;D
-
Commiserations Amy? :(
Gert

Dishwasher does a lovely rinse.
-
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
When I was one of the unfortunates of whom ye speak . . yep . . . always rinsed the dishes and whatnot thoroughly. Cannot for the life of me imagine life without the DW now though ;D
-
Yes I do rinse anything that doesn't go in DW.
-
I don't do dishes...
Our dishwasher dies Thursday, we bought another Friday... :)
My DH rinses everything...
-

Gert
Thats a big word Gertie :-[
-
Yes, always handwashed dishes.
-
If I'm handwashing I let dishes drain straight from the sink, and will only rinse if I can see suds. Of course I ALWAYS rinse my TM as its my pride and joy ;)
-
I don't do dishes, but DH rinses everything.
-
I have learned that I can hand wash my fine china and crystal, put them in the dishwasher with NO detergent and run the "Quick" wash cycle - 12 minutes - to rinse them thoroughly and then I dry them by hand.
This way there is no residual soap (which seems to attract dust) and there are no water spots.
-
No I don't rinse the dishes. DH does the washing up and uses minimal suds.
-
Yes definitely rinse the dishes 8)
-
i really can't understand why you would not rising them, yuk.
-
My DH never does the dishes :(
I also have a trusty dishwasher.
I do hand wash some stuff and rinse as well. :)
-
Definitely rinse well
-
The few things I hand wash I definately rinse well - soap tastes yuk! :P
-
We only rinse glassware when we hand wash nothing else.
-
I don't put plastics or baking dishes in the dishwasher. I ALWAYS rinse the suds off my dishes. I like lots of suds in my washing up water.
I wear gloves when I wash up as I use super hot water.
-
I never do this, because I like my rinsing water to be warm, but I am told that cold water is better to wash off soap residue and suds than warm or hot rinsing water.
-
If we wash anything by hand it gets rinsed thoroughly, dont want to injest any chemiclas.
:)
-
I have a double sink, so I use hot water to rinse.
-
Definitely rinse off the suds.
And my washing up water has to be soapy and can't have floaty bits :-))

-
I am spoilt, I have a Husband...
I too have a husband that does wash the dishes
Howevever if I'm not "supervising" he won't rinse and the dish water is filthy. Eeewwww
Rara x
Ps I do have a Miele dishwasher too
-
I don't rinse, but DS is right beside me with the tea towel. They get dried straight away.
-
I have to supervise too in this house as everyone tends to use cold water or warm, I like hot hot water to wash up in.
When DH and I first got together I had to teach him how to wash up, like don't put a greasy frying pan in the clean water to wash up before you wash everything else up. I don't know how many times I had to re wash the dishes :(
-
My Husband is brilliant. :)

My Husband is brilliant. :)
Where did you get him from Robyn? I want one like yours :D
-
Found him behind the shed. Cute cuddly scruffyness.....
I spotted him, and thought I am going to marry you instantly... ;) which I did.
-
No rinsing here, hot hot water, minimal eco friendly detergent and I change the water if it gets yukky. When DH does them I stay in another room and don't think about what he is doing, in the morning I give them a good wipe with a clean tea towel to get rid of the missed bits ( >:().
-
My husband is very good at domestic chores too.
I owe it all to his mum though, she trained him well.
-
I hope my DIL says that one day Michele. I am trying very hard to train DS but some days I think I would better off banging my head against a brick wall.
-
My DS was like that too at 7yrs old.
i had a strict clean up rule or no play. At 22yrs he is quite domesticated now.
I'm sure one day a lovely DIL will be saying thankyou.
-
So not all hope is gone yet Michele ;)
I don't know whether I will survive another 15 years. Took nearly all day to clean his room yesterday. His idea of cleaning is to throw it all in his cupboard and close the door. He did help clean the bath and fridge though so I guess that is a start.

Throw the mess in the cupboard and close the door works too.
Have had to that on occasions myself when company has turned up unexpectedly - so it is a good skill to master.
-
Yes, I always rinse the suds off too. I also put hand cream on before my rubber gloves and the heat from the water helps it to absorb ;D

Thanks for this tip kt2 :)

I try to think of it as a mini manicure instead of doing the dishes! Ah, the power of the mind!!!!!!! ;)
-
do what I do, run and buy a dishwasher.... :)
