Evoo Lemon Tart review Page 141 "For Foods Sake"
I made this tart yesterday to take to a birthday lunch party for my DSis. The one thing that I had to change was the fruity evoo. I just couldn’t find any. I considered adding fruit juice to my usual evoo but decided against it and so I substituted with butter. Although there are a couple of delays whilst the pastry cools, the speed of the filling makes up for the waiting times. I found that my filling held its shape when slicing but was still quite soft. What I liked most about this tart was the high tangy lemon flavour. I heard lots of comments around the table about this and what a refreshing dessert it was. Our family are noted for having lots of desserts at a meal as the guests arrive with them and my tart was certainly the most popular. People were begging the slicers to serve smaller portions so that there would be enough for them. It was also noted that the last piece was squirreled away in the fridge for my sister to secretly enjoy later. I will certainly be making this again.

it looks and sounds amazing DD ;D

Looks lovely Dot . . thanks for the review. I've put a note in the book to try this one on your recommendation . . :D
-
Yum! You have inspired me to try it!
-
Me too! I love a good lemon tart. And I have this book... That must be a sign!
-
Thanks for that Dot. It is MIL birthday on SAturday and we are giving her a lunch with the family. I was going to do a lemon meringue pie but I think I'll do this one. Hopefully it will all get eaten and she won't try to squirrel any away in her pockets. :D :D
-
I think it gives 10 modest portions. including the squirrel ;D ;)
-
That should be perfect, thanks Dot.
-
Dot did you serve this with anything or by itself? I'm not sure what to serve it with.
Does anyone have any thoughts please? Initially I was going to make a boozy strawberry sauce, but I'm not sure that would go.
-
I think just some whipped cream would be nice. That's all I'm going to do with mine when I make it.
-
It was served with whipped fresh vanillered cream (slightly sweetened) Most guests chose to eat it on it's own. I don't think another fruit sauce would be the right thing. It would detract from the lemony tartness. Vanilla ice cream would work though.

:-* :-* :-* Thanks Dot, much appreciated.

(http://img.tapatalk.com/7891aa97-a2ec-ec5e.jpg)I've just made this and I'm thrilled. I don't like lemon things usually but this is yummy.
I am so impressed with the way I can use the ipad to take a photo and put it straight on here using tapatalk. The tart was still warm.
I found some lemon flavoured EVOO and used that. I think it has just been released by Cobram Estate.

Yummy you are making me hungry. Love a good lemon tart. Can't wait til FFS is available again.
-
Cookie, you picked that up quickly - posting photos from your iPad 8)
-
Is there any chance some one could pm me this recipe? I'm always on the look out for a god lemon tart. Do you think it could be used as the base for lemon meringue pie?
-
It is very easy Judy. I just go to tapatalk. Find the post I want and type in my reply. Then take the photo and it gives you prompts to load it, and hey presto.
I served it with a small dollop of cream on the top of the tart. I put a strawberry next to it and a small scoop of Tenina's black rice icecream. Everyone loved it.

I made this on Thursday night to take to work on Friday for morning tea. It was a very big hit! I thought it tasted amazing, and everyone else did too. There was a lot of interest from people in the thermomix, too which was good.

I made this for my MT after my DS & DDs christening. It went down a treat. I had some really good quality fruity olive oil in the pantry that needed using and this was perfect. I don't think I would make it without it now - the texture of the curd was amazing. :)
-
I dont have FFS but i regularly make the olive oil lemon tart on Teninas website (the post is called o'il unlock your masterchef). It is the most delicious lemon tart and i always get rave reviews when i serve it. I always serve it by itself, the flavour is amazing and you don't want to mess with it.

I've just made this for Christmas Day. The lemon curd is absolutely delicious but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to eat it.xx

In the shops here, they usually sprinkle the surface with icing sugar but I would urge you not to do this even when the tart is very cold unless you are going to serve it straight away as the icing sugar melts on this tart surface and so leaves tiny wet speckles where the sugar melted which is not really a good look.
-
This is a great lemon tart that is easy to make. I used a good quality evoo as I did not have a fruity one. We all loved the tangy filling. Will be making again.
-
I'm just about to make this and I have a lemon infused olive oil in the pantry
Snappy, the recipe from Tenina's site you referred to is the same recipe as in FFS
-
It is Chrissa. I love this tart!
-
I used lemon infused EVOO for mine. I agree with you all, it is lovely. Probably time to make it again. :D
-
You all inspire me- i at last have some time( only one FC here now) to get on the forum. I have the tart in the oven as we speak.
Feel like i am getting my mojo back....at last. Thank you
-
I've just polished off the last piece of this tart
I'll definitely make this again, it looked amazing and tasted even better. It was easy enough to make too.
-
Yummy, easy, used the same tart tin as cookie on p1. Will def make again.

This is a fantastic dessert.
Easy to make and really tasty and tangy.
I am just about to make it for my son's birthday cake as it is dairy free when I use Nuttalex instead of butter.
Thank you Tenina.
