Hello
I hope the many kind experts on here can reassure me.
I made the lemon cleaner today exactly as per instructions on the uk *:. site. I weighed everything, and checked everything.
I made 3 batches and I cleaned the machine as it said and I took it apart and washed it between peach batch too.
I am posting the photo. You can see the marks, looks like corrosion.
Comments please.
I will continue to use *: for cooking but will contact gb hq on Monday if still the same.
Have bought the washing powder ingredients too but am worried now.
Went to cash and carry lemons were 20p each, so I thought, now or never since lemon trees are rare in UK. Now I wish maybe I hadn't.

You are doing the correct thing by contacting UK head office to air your concerns DJ.

After reading the dishwasher thread am very alarmed.
But followed the recipe exactly from the UK *: site.
Have just emailed them with photo of damage and my concerns.
I think it may be the newest bowl, not even had it a month yet.

DJ, same thing happened to me. Have never made this again but have continued to use the bowl. I have posted a comment on this ages ago. The washing powder is fine. I make thic all the tine but will never make this one again.

Same here. I think there were warnings on the thread.

I made 1 batch, my bowl has a few marks, but didnt think anything of it. Will look at it again. Dont think I will make it again if thats going to happen.
If the recipe was on the TM site, it should be covered by the company.
Consultants what do you think?

DJ, the recipe Gretchen referred to is this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=940.0) one which uses rock salt. It did the same to my bowl as your picture but has in no way affected my machine which is now almost 4 years old. I now do the UK recipe occasionally when I have excess lemons but I think maybe because of the fact you made 3 batches on top of each other, albeit with a good clean in between, that may have had something to do with it. If you used ordinary table/cooking salt those marks shouldn't have happened and I have no qualms about making it from time to time.

Thanks very much.
Yes ordinary cooking salt, very fine quality.
Thanks for all your comments.
Will see what HQ say on Monday.
-
Oh gosh, poor you.

I never make cleaning products in my TMX. I used to make the washing powder, but after reading about the lemon dishwashing concentrate, I didn't ever try again.
I hope that you can get a replacement bowl DJ.
-
Uk thermomix are sending me a new bowl on Thursday. I have to send the other back.
Good result.
No more lemon cleaner for me.
Might just whizz lemons at start to pulverise (then wash Thermy) then cook in pan and use stick blender. What do you think?
Bit frightened even of making lemon curd now!
-
I make lemon curd all the time DJ with no problems. :)
I forgot to add that it's good news that your bowl is being replaced ;)
-
That's excellent news DJ and a very quick reply and result.
I've never had trouble with lemon butter.
-
Great news about the replacement bowl.
i never have problem with lemon curd..
-
Great news DJ.
:)

I'm very surprised but pleased for you that they are replacing your bowl DJ, what did they say about their lemon concentrate recipe? I've had no further damage done to my original bowl since making the UK version - my ring was caused by the other recipe which now has warnings given and in no way affects the workings of the machine at all. We all make lemon curd so don't stop making that.
-
It must be the salt that's causing the problem acting as an abrasive. That circle looks like a lump of salt was caught under the blades and has ground a mark in the bowl. Good to see they have been so prompt in offering you a new bowl Jess.
I've made lots of lemon curd and never had any problems.
-
Thanks
They said nothing about the recipe.
The salt was very fine, and not lumpy so I just don't know.
It is just the jug being replaced. I keep the knife and lid. I am very grateful anyway and very happy with the customer service.
I must get the box from the attic to pack the jug.

Very good service indeed DJ.
Wow, you have an attic.
