Hi everyone!
My name's Amanda (obviously!) and I've been lurking for a while but just got my thermomix last week :)
I haven't really cooked much in it yet, only rice, porridge and the vegetable stock concentrate, but I'm looking forward to getting into some recipes this week after I do my groceries.
I'd love to know your number one favourite thing to make in your thermomix, so I can try some great recipes to start with and really knock my DH's socks off (he's a bit sceptical, called it the worlds most expensive rice cooker the other night :-)) )
Also, the promotional bonus was the thermomat, what on earth do you use it for? I thought it would ve great for baking etc, but the sticker says you can use it in gas ovens, which is what I have >:(
Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know my tmx and enjoying some fresh, natural, homemade foods :)

Welcome to the forum Amanda. Hard to pick a number 1 favourite but I do make date scones quite often.
Cream Puff has a favourite list of recipes which is very popular amongst forum members.
You will be cooking up a storm in no time. Happy Thermomixing.

Welcome Amanda. Risotto must be the number one favourite for newbies and everyone else.
The thermomat is a very desirable gift. Lucky you.

Welcome Amanda. What sort of things do you like to eat? Have a look on the forum and select something that lots of people have made and enjoyed. Perhaps something like Baf's chicken. Sorry I don't know how to put a link using the iPad. You will find it in all in one meals.

Hi Amanda, welcome to the forum. So many lovely meals on the forum and if you like risotto, my favourite is the Creamy Garlic Prawn (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7006.45). The mat is great for your dough when making rolls (don't use a sharp object to cut through the dough though, use something plastic). Some people wrap their dough in it for rising but I don't as I usually do the first rise in the TM bowl and the second one either in a tin if it is a loaf on on a baking tray if it is rolls.
So, have a browse through all the different sections on the home page and I'm sure you will find heaps of recipes that appeal to you. The reviews are very helpful so make sure you read those too and please come back and let us know what you have been making and perhaps put your own reviews on as well.

Hello Amanda and welcome to the forum, :)

Welcome Amanda, a great day for cooking and browsing on the Forum today in Victoria, very cold and wet, what's new....
I am just about to make some Lemon Curd/butter. Then might clean out the crisper and make some soup...
-
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, and for the links :)
I LOVE risottos, so I'll definitely be trying the creamy garlic prawns, thanks Judy, and I think I'll make a batch of the cheese and bacon rolls for playgroup this friday, usually we get bought ones but home made will be so much better!
Lemon curd is also on the list, was going to do it today, but then had to use some of my lemons in a roast chicken. So maybe later this week. I'm so excited about cooking again!
