I was minding my own business in the shower this morning (singing Bohemian Rhapsody, in case you're wondering ;)) and I looked down at my feet. I thought I'd better wash them.
But has anyone else ever realised how far away they are? I mean, they're all the way down on the ground. And you're up above them. And you have to get down with the flannel and scrub them... it pretty much feels like a gym workout some days.
Does anyone else get what I mean?
-
No I haven't thought it too bad. I lift them up so they're easier to reach however..............trying to do that when you're pregnant is another matter.

totally. unfortunately. As I have got fatter the distance to my toes has been greater. Although I can say that I have never been able to touch my toes even when I used to do gymnastics in primary school cos my legs were too long. Now, unfortunately unless I lose a suitcase of baggage there is always going to be something between us. so yeah Amy, I think I know where you're at unless you were talking about having a real work out trying to get the tinea and not having to bend down and reach ;D
-
this reminds me of a Q i once asked my friend, How much weight do u want to lose, her reply was when i can see my :o i will stop
-
Yes Amy, ;D
-
:o
OMG what am I going to be like if I ever get pregnant?! I'll have to get an extension rod and attach a scrubber or something to the end of it ;)
Thank you CP and Robyn for being so understanding of my feelings on this highly sensitive issue :-))
Lol CP, no tinea on my tootsies. I thought you get that in your ears? ???
Oh dear Uni... your poor friend :o
I think anyone who doesn't have this problem must either have really short legs, be a gymnast (except for CP :-))) or have detachable feet. If anyone would like to correct me on this, please do. I would be intrigued...
-
Amy, why dont you bring you feet up, much easier I would think.
H
-
Always a practical solution Hally ;D ;D ;D
I'm going to have a shower now so I will try it ;) I think "Rocket Man" is on the agenda for Amy's Morning Shower Sing-Song this morning :D
-
Do u put the music on or do you sing on your own.
We have speakers in our bathroom over our indoor spa bath, & little lights so I i can relax in bath or rev it up in the shower. Our hub is all set up in our home theatre room. I also have speakers out in our alfresco kitchen which s fun.
I must get in my way, hills to cycle or hills to walk or both ??? Ds has tennis & swimming today & dh has gym & pilates. We used to get there for 8.30 for combat, but too cold these mornings so start at 9.
H :)
-
Bend zee knees, Amy!
-
I don't have a problem finding my feet but I'm only five foot so I'm not far away from them.
I'm very much a child of the seventies and eighties with my taste in music....I listen to things like Alice cooper, Bruce and queen. Alice is my house cleaning music. I'm also constantly exposed to jazz and swing music because it is brat boys genre and he is constantly singing or playing it. Nothing quite like driving the freeway at 6.30 in the morning with your passenger belting out jazz tunes.
-
Amy, when we redesigned the small bath at home, we put a ledge for a seat in. Very easy to sit and scrub feet.
I am spoilt... :)
-
Hally, I sing my own of course! Nothing like a good (or bad) sing in the shower! ;D I'm starting to think you live in a palace Hally, it all sounds very luxurious. When you say combat, do you mean Bodycombat the Les Mills class?
LOL deedub, another piece of practical advice :-))
Stacelee, sometimes I wish I were shorter so my feet weren't as far away. But I'm stuck at 5 ft 7 inches. Great for reaching the top shelves in the supermarket, not so good for economical washing :-))
Robyn, I want one :o
-
Upturn a small bucket Amy....by the way, I wonder what else your mind wonders...interesting :P LOL!

Yes Les mills body combat, used to do it 3 times per week when I was fit a few years ago, in fact used to do 10 hours of cardio a week then I got sick for 1 1/2 years & had to tone it down. Have not been that enhusiastic again, lost the mojo with my slight brain damage >:(. Well thats what I blame it on.
No not a palace, 2 story home, 4 beds, 2 baths, 3 toilets, 3 car garage, kitchen/living dinig area, home theatre room, alfresco kitchen, outdoor pool & spa. Nice for the 3 of us & guests
H :)
-
I'm jealous, Hally, I have always wanted to try combat but my gym does not run the classes! They have become addicted to that new cxworx program, which I can't do because of a rib injury :(
How awful that you were unwell for so long :o I hope you are much better now though? It sounds as though it must have been quite serious :(
Sounds like a lovely home Hally :D
-
Thanx, I tried to send u a photo but taptalk said it wasnt compatible. I went outside & took one just now for you.
Just sent it to your email address
-
Oh thank you Hally :-*
I'm going to check my emails right now! :D
-
Just as well I couldnt post it, it has our street number & name on it on te stainless steele panel.

That was lucky then Hally. And you don't have to worry, I'm definitely not a stalker!
It is definitely a beautiful house Hally. It looks very new :)
-
Yes we built it. We ave been in it 2 1/2 years
-
I always clean my feet before I shower. Stick my foot up on to the bath edge. Give them a good scrub then wash off in the shower. Or if I have time I get the foot spa out and have a pedicure.

Interesting method DG. I thought the point of having a shower is that you're in there to wash? Seems funny to wash and then get in the shower lol ;D
Foot spa. Now there's an idea ;)
-
Amy I can't reach my toes so it works for me. I use a foot scrub, then wipe over them with a cloth dipped in a little bucket of water. Then into the shower to wash the rest of me.
-
It does sound very sensible DG. I'm sorry :-[
Maybe I should try it. Except I don't have a bath :(
All the more reason to buy a foot spa! :D
-
Love my foot spa. DH bought it for me when I was pregnant.
-
love my foot spa too.
aromatherapy oils too.
-
Can you just get foot spas at Harvey Norman? What brand do you girls have?
-
I'm only 5 foot tal too, so I really don't have much of a problem. I do lift them up too. Much easier with short legs.
-
Cookie they say great things come in small packages,
I'm only 5 foot 5 inches and I'm pretty great too :D
-
Cookie, it looks like you and I are going to be the shorties on the retreat ;D
-
LOL you girls will have to make flags and wave them above the crowds so the other forumers can find you ;D ;D
-
Amy, why dont you bring you feet up, much easier I would think.
H
Absolutely! We have seats in one of our showers but I have never had to sit down and do my feet. Much easier to just lift them up, can't believe the three pages on this LOL!!!!

I'm not much taller and LOVE your taste in music :)
-
love my foot spa , before l had one l would put marbles into a retangle bucket and some foot soak stuff from the bodyshop with warm water , soak and then when finish used some peppermint cream from bodyshop to rub in .
AAAHHHH BLISS
l must get it out have not used it for a few years now, since when l was pregnant. l waded like a duck and could not see or reach my feet
-
can't believe the three pages on this LOL!!!!
I thought it was a pretty good topic of conversation Jude ;D ;D ;D
I've learned a few good strategies for fuss-free foot washing anyway! ;) I used to bend all the way down and scrub the tops of my feet, and then pick them up a little bit just enough to get underneath. I'm seeing now how awkward that was :-))
Michelle you're making me want a foot spa even more....
-
Haha - Yes! This is an amazingly helpful forum :)
-
Foot spas are only about $20, a bargain.
When I was studying, my treat was to soak my feet in my foot spa all day while doing assignments,.
Sure helped.

:o :o :o
You're a genius Robyn! No wonder I can't concentrate when I'm studying at the moment. I don't have a foot spa!
For $20, I think I will be investing ;)
-
I was studying aromatherapy oils for massage at the time, so made sense to use them too.
I still use my foot spa. :D
-
check out second hand places amy thats where l got mine from it was $10 and still in the box

Or wait till around Christmas when Coles get their Christmas stock in. They get creams and body lotion packs from M & M and they almost always get marked down on Christmas eve - they generally aren't big sellers. They also have foot spas which get marked down to half price, but they're not that expensive to begin with. I was doing a couple of shifts a week at Coles around Christmas and all of the girls who worked there went home with at least one of these on Christmas eve.
-
Shh do not give these supermarkets free advertising just go C*les or WW. They already have a monopoly without us advertising the bargains we get
-
Oops, I didn't mean to. It's not really beneficial to them, though - I'm talking about waiting until they can't sell them anymore and going in and buying them then. Does that count?
-
they still make big $ with the mark ups even (they are never the losers)
-
I have a "garden" tub with a seat on one side and an overhead shower plus a hand-held shower wand.
I also have a foot scrubby thing that attaches to the floor of the tub with suction cups and which makes scrubbing the feet for someone like me (fat) and with dicey knees (don't bend easily) and which also is helpful for softening and debriding calluses.
Shower foot scrubber. (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=s&hl=en&q=Avivo+Shower+Sandal:+Foot+Scrubber&aq=f&aqi=g2g-mK1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=13356440940096511076&sa=X&ei=qCDnT8v3JqSU2QX91N3ZCQ&ved=0CHIQ8wIwAA)

I have noticed that my toe nails seem to get further away ....
-
Well we must have a few shorties on here - but I think I'm not going to admit just how short I am ... lets just say when I open the door to unknown people they ask "Is mummy here?" or when I go out (not locally now, everyone knows everyone here!!) I get things like "babies having babies" or "teenage mums" or "what grade are you in - or did you have to drop out of school to raise your children" Aaaargh - I'm 29, been left school for YEARS!!
Anyway, back on track... Generally my feet are not too far away, but ATM ... I can't bend to reach them!! And they are only getting further away!! :) But yep, got my footspa out again the other day, they seriously are great. My DH got it for me (from a garage sale, no less, for $5 still in box, and it heats the water too which is nice) when I was having #1. :)
-

I'd be very lucky to find a bargain like that Michelle. The second hand shops down here mostly just have old clothes that smell like mothballs :-X
I have noticed that my toe nails seem to get further away ....
Do you cut them Marina? They do tend to grow downwards if you let them go...
Andiesenj, that is really cool :o
LOL astarra you poor thing :-[ Maybe you should dye your hair grey to make you look older :-))
At least you have a good excuse for not being able to reach your feet! :D :D
That foot spa sounds like the bargain of the century :o
I think we're going to Harvey Norman today so I can check out their foot spas. I'm guessing they would have them?
-
Reckon HN will have footspas Amy - and then you might not have to keep checking your toes to see if they are still there! ;)
I think you need one! :)

It would be nice not to have to keep checking on my toes... its quite exhausting because my toes are quite long so my eyes have to work harder to look further away :-)) :-)) :-))
I definitely think I do too. So thats two votes saying I need a foot spa. Thats enough for me ;) ;)
-
Andie, I love that shower foot scrubber - might look into getting myself one of those. It's not that I can't see my feet, it is more because as you get older it gets more risky standing on one foot in the shower whilst you wash the other one. We don't need a fall and risk breaking hips etc.
Astarra, I'd get some T-shirts made 'I was born in 1983'. I know a young lass in her early 20's who recently married - she still looks about 15. It's hard now but wait until you are 60 and only look 40 ;D
-
I found these available in a few places including very cheap ones on ebay but I've gone for the best quality from Independent Living Centre here in Sth Australia @ $39.50. I've sent the details to DD2 and asked for it for my next birthday ;) Thanks for the heads up on this product Andie, didn't even know this item was out there until I read your posting.
-
That's a great idea Andi and Judy. Wouldn't mind one of them myself. I wonder if it will tickle. ;D
-

It does tickle a bit but you get used to it - constant use sort of desensitizes the foot to the "tickle" sense.
-
Like the look of the shower foot scrubber.
