Hi, My name is Michelle and I can't wait till my thermomix arrives next Tuesday! I decided to get one after a demonstration, it is just what I had been looking for. Up until now I have been struggling with feeding my family as 2 of my 4 boys are lactose intolerant and the cost of a lot of these foods is very pricey and limited. ( food might be sold as dairy free but have heaps of sugar and additives included).
I have been browsing heaps of the recipes and can't wait to try them out! any hints would be appreciated!
:)

Welcome and hope your dreams of what might be achieved when your Thermomix arrives are soon fulfilled and exceeded. Enjoy!

Hi Michelle, welcome to the forum. The Thermomix is wonderful for people wanting to make their own lactose free milks and save a fortune in the process. Check out this (http://www.superkitchenmachine.com/2011/14176/dairy-free-soy-rice-nut-milk-recipes.html) list from Superkitchenmachine - you will find links there taking you to Tebasile's Kitchen and Quirky Jo's blog which I'm sure you will find interesting.

Thanks for the welcome!
Wow I had no idea there were so many types of milks! Quirky cooking website looks awesome, lots of reading for me to do!
Can anyone tell me where they source their ingredients from? Health food shops or online?

Hi Mishyanne. Welcome to the forum. Your TMx will be a great help with your kids. You will be amazed.
I just have to say here though, and I know everyone is gunna scream at me but milk comes from cows. Every other so called milk is not real milk but a made up drink which I guess could be called fake milk or milk like drink.
OK start shouting me down. I can take it. Come on five it to me.

Yes we know Gretchen but if we don't call it milk the kids won't drink it ;)

Hi Michelle and welcome to the forum.
A TM will be a huge help for you and your boys. This forum is amazing for lots of ideas and recipes. I can't help you with the lactose intolerance but I know other people will certainly point you in the right direction.
As I'm sure you may be able to help others in the same situation :)
-
Welcome Michelle. You will find it much easier to make things using your TMX.
Gert, isn't that what we are drinking on the retreat?

Hi Michelle,
Welcome to the forum.
I am fascinated with your Username as my name is Anne and my cat is Mishy! And he doesn't bat an eyelid when I use the TM and he is right next to it. And this happens many times a day as I am totally besotted with my TM. In fact I am now so boring I am surprised anyone still speaks to me!
-
Swanscook a lot of us have this problem. Friends get this glazed over look if TMX is mentioned.
-
Me too (with boring people to bits) and I don't even have one. My kids run as soon as I start any sentence with "when I get my thermomix......" lol

Welcome to the forum mishyanne1. :)
I also have a dairy intolerant child, I find TM wonderful ... not only for cooking her dairy free food but also for the $$$$ it saves. She is also being trialled on no preservatives at the moment, which TM cuts out of life anyway, so that bit is easy!! I generally use either soy or rice 'milk' in normal recipes, nuttellex for the butter, most turn out just fine. :)

-
Oh not long to wait now. Bet your excited as the time gets closer.
-
Hi Michelle!
Looking forward to my little arrival too!!
Check out Quirky Cooking (Jo whitton) on Facebook or her blog http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com.au/ . I notice she post heaps of recipes that are dairy free :)
I'm sure the options are endless with the TMX

Pebbles , Jo was valued member of the forum and was here from the beginning I think. Now that she is a GL at Thermomix I think Jo is not supposed to be seen to be supportive of this forum but she is a great source of information and very approachable. Jo has some important useful and great recipes on her website so make use of them. I do wish she would comeback here from time to time but it is a no no from HO.

Gert i was wondering why Jo wasn't on here anymore. Such a shame because she always had such great information - i check out her blog most weeks because she often has great healthy food for kids

Hello and welcome to the forum Mishyanne.

TM arriving today at 10:15am...... I feel like one of my kids waiting for Xmas! LOL
-
We can understand that Michelle. ;)
-
Yeah, christmas is here.....
-
Wow, it finally came. I am exhausted. Very busy day with p/t interviews and other kid appointments but I did manage to have a go. I can see I need loads of practice because my kitchen looked like. Bomb had gone off! Made bread (2 loaves), chicken balls, rice and steamed vege for dinner and vanilla milkshakes or desert. Very fun! Need more bread lready though :'(
-
Bread on your first day Michelle, boy you got off to a good start. Glad you had a good day.
-
Slowdown the weekend is nearly here and you can play with your TMX then. Try a pizza dough for the kids.
