Yes it was super quick as I expected to wait for at least a week. Just awaiting my consultant now. Any recipe suggestions for first time use would be appreciated  :)

You're very lucky to have such a quick delivery Mama Fergie - welcome to the forum.

People usually make the vegetable stock concentrate first - recipe will be in the book that comes with your TMX or there is this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=196.0) or this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=836.0) one for you to choose from.

This weather soups are nice, risottos (plenty of both on this forum) and rice pudding or custard are easy recipes too.

Thanks everyone. I had a great day playing with my new toy! I made potato, leek & bacon soup, cheese scones to eat with it, vanilla custard, white chocolate cookies and my daughter made Bombay potatoes from the Indian cookbook that I purchased with my thermie. Everything turned out perfect except for my cookies as some of them were burnt on top due to my 20 month old grandson turning on the grill function on my oven!!! They tasted delicious without the charcoal topping. Ha ha better luck next time but all in all a great day cooking. In love with this amazing machine already. Can't wait to use itvagain tomorrow.

Hi MamaMix and Mishellakinsella what did you both cook for your first time in thermomix? Did you both enjoy it? I loved it and can't wait for next cooking session. I had a few hiccups but only to be expected as a new way of cooking. Nothing major just simple things that I missed out but fortunately end results were still great. It's a new learning curve but loving it. Happy cooking  ;)

Hi Mama Fergie, for my first day of cooking yesterday I made lemon custard with the consultant, then once she'd left and I'd collected enough courage to try something myself I made tomato soup and bread rolls. Then spaghetti carbonara for dinner and pear & banana sorbet for dessert, as well as a hot chocolate for myself once the kids were in bed :)
Today I made porridge for the kids for breakfast, carrot & orange juice (SO impressed with how well the TMX juices, I was sceptical and thought it would be more smoothy like - but it's JUICE!), then apricot muffins as it's my baby boy's 1st birthday today, and rice pudding for the big kids for dessert. Thinking of throwing together another batch of bread rolls.

I - AM - IN - LOVE!!! I thought it would be cool, but it's sooooo much better than I ever could have imagined!! :)

How was your 2nd day Mama Fergie?   :D

Hi MamaMix you did really well both days. I have not cooked anything yet today but I did make a batch of play dough which turned out really well. About to make mashed potatoes but don't know whether to do it all in the bowl as the recipe in our Everyday cooking book or cook the potatoes in the steamer as suggested on another recipe I found on the forum. I guess it is  trial and error till you find your own preferences. Will let you know how I get on. Did you use the books rice pudding recipe or another?

Yes I love it too and can't wait to use it now. Will be cooking it in about 90 minutes from now. It's really amazing and so glad to have it.  :)

How did your mashed potatoes turn out Mama Fergie?
Yep I used the rice pudding recipe from the Everyday cook book, but I only added one egg instead of 2 (don't think it made a difference, and heck, after spending NZ$2410 on a kitchen machine I'm going to have to be thrifty, one egg worked fine ;)).
I must try the playdough recipe too, my kids would be thrilled, the playdough we've got in the cupboard is getting old...

Hi MamaMix mashed potato was amazing, so light and fluffy. We had it with chicken cacciatore so the mash with the Parmesan cheese complimented it really well. Would possibly make it without the Parmesan if serving it with something else as either way this recipe would be great. Must try the rice pudding as a nice winter dessert.
Kids loved the play dough and it hasn't dried out at all. I was too afraid to put the food coloring into the Thermie so kneaded it in by hand after. Used 4 different colours. What's cooking with you today? I am finally having a day at home alone so planning a big cook up but no idea what as yet. We were in NZ earlier this month. Love it!!! :)

SO Mama Fergie, which method did you go with for your mashed potatoes in the end? Think I'll have to try it tomorrow. My only problem at the moment is I can't eat all the food I want to cook - I need my husband to hurry on home. He's still gone for another 10 days, sigh. Made creamy prawn and garlic risotto for dinner last night, but the kids didn't like it (I thought it was very nice!) and there's waaay more than I can possibly eat myself. Hate wasting food.

What did you end up cooking on your home alone day?? That is so what I want, a home alone day with my Thermomix, haha. My 4 year old goes to preschool, but I've got two boys at home every single day, so cooking is always a balancing act.
I made some lemon muffins/cupcakes yesterday too (found them on this forum), and we've been having lots of green smoothies too. Oh, and I made the carrot and coriander soup from the Everyday cook book, delicious!

Do you have family in NZ? That's a long flight from Perth!! Honestly I'd rather be living in Australia - I'm from Denmark and spent a year traveling around OZ when I finished school, then bumped in to a charming guy in Melbourne, but he was a Kiwi just over there for a few months. Next thing I know I'm married and living in New Zealand!! :p I LOVED Australia - but not the spiders so much!! :-/

Hi Mama Mix sounds like you have been doing a lot of cooking. Haven't tried the creamy prawn and garlic risotto but it sounds yummy. On my cooking day I made bread rolls, onion jam which I then used in the onion flan recipe, minestrone soup, Choc chip cookies, sun dried tomato dip, beetroot salad and cheese and vegemite scrolls. All turned out great and the onion flan really delicious. I also made rice pudding using Judy's recipe which was really nice.

I ended up using the mashed potato from EDC and will definitely use it again with or without the Parmesan depending on what I will be serving it with.

Has your husband returned home yet? If yes is he enjoying the food? It's a different way of cooking and a delight to use.
Yes NZ is a long way from Perth but we love the lake/mountain scenery as we are originally from Scotland. We fly from Perth to Sydney or Melbourne 3 hrs 45 mins - 4 hrs 15 mins then 2 hrs 30 mins to Queenstown. It's a lot closer than going to Europe to get our mountain fix. We love it and try to get there once a year. My husband loves golf an NZ has some great golf courses.

Hate Aussie snakes and spiders but love the country. The best move we ever made was coming to live in Oz.
