Maybe I should go shopping in my flanneys and ugh boots today :)....actually my flanneys are covered in teddy bears and are my jammies and my slippers were stolen by my daughter a couple of years ago :(.....so that ain't gonna wurk :p....nothing like stereotyping :).

Actually that could be a good look for today. I want to go to super butcher if I get time and it is VERY cold in their cold room.

is it what!!!!  I've been known to wear Uggies to the Super Butcher.  I don't live that far into Logan to wear flannies!  That's a little further down the M1  ;D

Ugg boots and  the rubber thongs...my daughter used to go to gymnastics at the woodridge PCYC and I have never seen so many people in stubbies and rubber thongs in the middle of winter as I used to see when I went down there with her.  The people however were lovely and I never had any hassles in the seven odd years that she went there.  We are definately becoming very multicultural in Logan, we have the Kiwi's  :D in Rochedale, the Islanders in Woodridge/Slacks creek, the Indians somewhere near and across the road in Kuraby, an extremely large muslim population.  Its definately expanding the food choices in this area, now if only we could have a decent deli arrive.  The asian/indian food shopping is covered, but you still have to go further afield for good deli products.

my DH is a bogan and I have given up trying to change his dress style. He wears thongs everywhere and will not come with me to get him a pair of decent shoes. If we go out to a cafe he'll make an effort if I look at his feet and put on sandshoes  :-)) Don't think you can buy Stubbies anymore can you?

Yep you can.
Stubbies have been bought out by Pacfic Brands, now back in Australia.
Also sells school wear for kids..

There is 'Plenty' deli at Eight Mile Plains but then you'd need to cross over into Brisbane to go there and I doubt they'd let you in.
 :D

Oh and yes there's lots of Kiwi's around here.  Even one in my house!   8)

I've been going to Plenty for years...they used to make really good russian meat pie thingy's that the real name escapes me at the moment.  Since I changed the way I go to work, I haven't been there :(....how slack I have become!  I discovered Samios at Wooloongabba which was on my way back to work from dropping my son to school (and it was good because they opened at 7) but then they moved to Coorparoo :(.  I also love Hellenes at West End but it's hard to find the time to go there (again its out of my normal driving pattern).  I'm hanging out for next year when I will have more normal working hours and more time to get out and do things.  I've been wanting to go to the Rocklea Markets twilight market on a Wednesday for months and I still haven't been there (and I working only five minutes away from there)....maybe next week since bratboy won't need to be picked up.

Definately me Uni....my nickname is Possum because I used to be able to sleep anywhere as a kid...buried deep in my mothers photo albums is a picture of me asleep under a coffee table in the lounge of Auckland airport when we got stuck there on the way to the States when I was 7.  So long as I had my blanket, I was able to snooze.....I still can get to sleep easily, its just staying asleep that I have problems with.

My kids are the same with being able to sleep anywhere....I trained them from an early age :)....I used to shock my mother-in-law because my kids didn't have a set sleep routine during the day....we went everywhere with quilts and if they were tired, I stuck them in a corner or under a table and they went to sleep.  Even now you rarely see either of my kids after about 8.30...they always had to be in bed in their rooms by 8pm when they were younger, I didn't care whether they slept or read, but they had to be in bed.  They are both still quilt kids and each have five or six at any one time in their bedrooms.  Every now and then I confiscate some of them and put them back around the house but they seem to migrate back there again.

what a good idea, mine congregate around the tv..

Tv never appealed greatly to either of my kids and even now neither of them watch a lot of "normal" tv.  I don't like soap operas and would never let them be on in the house (the kids know that I will bitch and complain and bitch and complain if someone doesn't turn off Home and Away if it comes on after the news).  I have corrupted my son totally, he now has the ABC news channel running almost constantly when he is at home and puts the TV on.  They are also hooked on Netflix....particularly for Bones, Dr Who and I have now gotten my daughter into Drop Dead Diva.  I am into slightly off beat stuff like Dead like Me (there really isn't a theme going here...honestly) and I have been known to have Star Trek and Goodies marathons.

I used to watch that :(...until I threw a temper tantrum at Telstra and told them to take it away.  We still have it in the lounge room but only for the football for DH.  Mind you...as soon as DH had control of the remote, I didn't get to watch it anyway.  I liked it and the History channel.  Now I just watch documentaries on netflix instead or the BBC from the UK.

My favourite is Come Dine with Me, and Wife Swap just has me laughing. The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills/Orange County make me laugh as well cos they are always arguing and b**ching about each other. They are my favourites, and I can watch them to the cows come home over and over. I love mindless tv shows where I don't have to think.

I love lifestyle food too and selling houses Australia, intervention is good too and any true crime programmes I love.

My husband really got into Revenge....didn't do anything for me and there was some crime show he used to watch while I put a pillow over my head and attempted to sleep.  I like The Mentalist and would probably have gotten into the fairytale show whatever it was if I ever managed to catch more than 10 minutes of it.

We have a ridiculous amount of TV's (7)....which really don't get watched a lot...but all except for two have been given to us when someone has upgraded another one.  My house somehow becomes the last stop for appliances and furniture.....I have a large cedar chest in my lounge room affectionately known as the coffin (it really is that large and looks remarkably like one) that ended up here because my sister bought it at a garage sale and then couldn't fit it....my house definately doesn't look like anything out of home beautiful....its very much a mishmash of decorating styles (actually there is nothing stylish about it :P ) but it's home.

Stacelee, you have just mentioned some of my favourite program's. Reality shows are pretty much banned in out house as my DH  can't stand them. I did manage a season of Masterchef, and we watch The Glee Project together. I do have some weird cooking related reality shows that I watch with my DD like Cupcake Wars, or better ones like Cake Boss or Ace of Cakes.

I've learnt not to watch anything set in a restaurant because I get a commentary about the equipment or how the kitchen has been designed...I've never been into reality tv because I tend to get embarrassed/uncomfortable for the contestants....my sisters family are very very heavily into it and my daughter b***hes and complains when she ends up over there and watching it. I love motor sport but hate having to watch football or cricket (I'm not that fond of football live either....I was the one in the second row sewing  a quilt binding and pretending the watch the suns game last saturday...my husband was rolling his eyes at me).

CP I was thrilled to read that your DH is a bogan. So is mine. He is dreadful. Stubbies and thongs and old work shirts. As it was cold this morning he actually put on a checked flannel shirt. He wears thongs to the shops or if I'm with him he will put on crappy, horrid sneakers.
I buy him some nice shirts so he fixes someones car in them and they get stained. His thongs are worn out and he looks like an op shop reject. But I do love him.

You have to love them....my husband is actually quite well dressed but only because he refuses to go clothes shopping and wears what I bring home....but he is SOOOOOOOOO square with what he will wear.  I've lost count of the number of things that I've had to return because they are toooooo trendy for him.  He did discover Rivers a couple of years ago and will occasionally go there with me.  Luckily my son is the same size and he has started inheriting some of his father's rejects but is just as fussy with shoes.  They both seem to feel that one pair of black leather shoes and one pair of "runners" is all that you need.  My husband has been wearing exactly the same "model" runner for the last 15 odd years....I don't know what I will do if they ever discontinue it.

Wow, a few locals on this topic, we're at Eight Mile Plains so all very close.  I just did a Super Butcher shop last week.  Took my 3 yo in his snow jacket and he was still freezing. Super Butcher's great hey ! I got heaps of the $4.99 wagu mince last week, plus the eye fillet deal and a few other things.  I'm thinking of going to the Waterford store for the diced wagu chuck steak.  One of our favourites from there is the spicy chicken tenderloins (kfc style), kids love them and they're sooooooo quick especially when my husband's on night shift ! We have them on wraps with salad.

My mother rarely admits that she comes from Australia if we ever travel together....she still travels on an English passport even tho she has been here for nearly 50 years.  I have a fairly neutral accent so people usually can't pick where I'm from.  I dont mind admitting I'm Australian :)...but I never say I live in Logan...its always Brisbane or Springwood...but that is more because I don't really think of Logan as a city not because I'm ashamed of it.  In actual fact I like it better, they have made a big effort to beautify the streets in our area and I live near a koala park and an environmental park so lots of trees and bush and we have great libraries.

I say we live in the Mulga, 10 minutes to town.

Off the highway its quiet,  narrow roads, no lights or marking on the road. delivery trucks wont drive to us at home, as we are 5 klms off the highway.  Gotta love the country..

very peacefull, and relaxing, and the view....

Don't you love that...same here....no lights, markings on the road, transport (stand on a piece of road wide enough for the bus to pull over and stick out your hand), no sewerage (we are on enviro system).

A bit over it, next house I want a few mod cons.
