How many times a day do you run your dishwasher?
2 to 3 times / day would be my normal as I put pans, Thermy , all plates etc.
However with houseful it can be 4 times and I wondered if that was OTT and what everyone else did?
After supper last night had both Thermy bowls in. One from cookies and one from sauce.
I do also wash up stuff either because I need to use it immediately or is not DW proof.
Look forward to your replies.

only once a day , i hate unpacking the thing >:(
DJ you are a male :o ops or maybe not
All good i misread again :-[
-
Whoaaaa LOL where did that come from? Ah I see you misread it...... More LOL
Mine is set at waist height for bad backs very easy to load and unload, and no one else even looks at a dirty dish in this house, except DD when she here.
I do insist from time to time that the others unload it, as a matter of principle. However sometimes the aggro is worse than doing it and am always so busy.
Must dash, be back later.
-
sorry love i misread the last line :-*
-
No worries
-
Just once a day, before we go to bed and it's meant to be DS's job to unpack before school each day.
-
I only run mine once a day usually. Usually last thing of a night ready to unpack I the morning. I do wash pots, pans and TM bowls by hand :)
-
I have the dish drawers so would do 2 per day, sometimes 3 if I am cooking a lot. I don't put big items in there like huge tupperware containers, saucepans (rarely have a need to use them anyway) nor the TMX bowl. I also hate unloading dishwashers but it has to be done and I am the only one who can do it unfortunately.
-
Gosh you must go through alot of dishes to run the dishwasher 4 times a day..... I only run mine once BUT I very rarely put my Thermomix Bowl in the dishwasher for some reason. I dont know why buy I just seem to chuck it under the hot tap when I have finished with it. Maybe I should run it through the dishwasher and get it all nice and shiny again lol...

dede and wonder if you do it after 12 and before 7am in the monring it cheaper to run (off peak rates )
-
We don't have a dishwasher :P
I do all our dishes by hand, usually just after breakfast, lunch and dinner, but I'll do them more if I'm doing a lot of cooking. We don't have that many bowls, utensils, etc.
-
Usually just once. If I've had a big cooking day I might run it twice. I only put my thermie bowl in if I've got the space come the end of the day, otherwise I just rinse it as per normal. Same with any pots or pans I may use, they go in if I've got the space, if not I just hand wash it quickly. There are 2 adults and one toddler in our household.
-
Two or three times a week or when I run out of wine glasses.

Gert
I hope for your dishwasher's sake that you never stop drinking Gert, otherwise it will lose its purpose in life. I'm sure I don't have to worry though :-))
-
I put most things in my dishwasher except my grandmother's bone handled butter knives and my TC bowl. It usually goes on at bedtime and I unload it at breakfast time. I love it when we have all the family over and then it will go on twice or even three times. I am perfectly happy to leave the dirty dishes over night if I know they can go in the dishwasher the next day.

Good idea fundj, my dishwasher has a delay timer (just got to work out how to use it :) )
-
I have my washing and ironing done by them 2 and most day i manage to bake bread too
-
Once a day :)

l misread your comment to and thought you were a man by what you said , but thought from past post that you were a woman
l quote''l do also wash up stuff either because I need to use it immediately or is not DW proof.''
l wish l had one l wash by hand once a day

LOL
Who'd have thought a dishwasher thread could be so funny?
I have urgently updated my gender on the forum profile.
It should now be showing pink.....
Last time I looked In the mirror I saw a middle aged, wife, mother to 2, stepmother to 3, amongst a lot of other roles.... too numerous to mention.
LOL.....
Work done, pony ridden, lunchtime (carrot and coriander soup) calling and the the garden this afternoon.
Might manage just 2 runs of the DW today.
4 is only when we have visitors too.
-
Dishwasher on once a day only and packed to the max. I handwash TM things cos I use and need them alot. Generally try and pack in as many things as poss in the DW but there is always the handwashing (pots, pans, plastics and anything else that needs particular attention). My DH handwashes dishes and bless him I think he is certified blind cos they are fricken fiilthy when I go to put them away.
-
2-3 times per day.
I have a good friend, she cracks me up, takeaways, eats out etc. anyway her dh went to make tea & there were no mugs, all in dishwasher, whole dishwasher full of mugs ;D
So they improvise, mmm not sure how. Her idea of cooking is cooked chicken from coles & maybe veg once to twice per week.
H :)
-
Around 50 though i have never really counted. Takes 2 min and 30 seconds each wash.
-
Am I the only one on this forum who doesn't have a dishawasher? :'(
-
No I don't have one either. I get sick of doing the dishes even though there are only 2 of us and a little one. It's seems the second I'm done, there are always more dishes!!! However it does help to make me warm in winter :)
-

LOL CP and ditto. I have to inspect everything he washes up >:( Amy, we don't have a dishwasher either - no room - but I would love one. If I could only get DH to part with the small freezer, then there would be space for one, but ATM it is a case of me putting on my rubber gloves or inspecting DH's handiwork :(

bless her, she keeps a lot of ppl employed ;D
-
once a day, weekends twice a day, as I keep cooking...
-
Usually only once a day, occasionally I can leave it until the next day but not if the plates were very 'dirty'. Wouldn't feel right knowing they are sitting there. :-))
I wash all my pans by hand and the TM only goes in if I've made something highly fragrant in there. :)
-
Once a day, if that. On my work days we don't use up many dishes as I usually pull something out of the freezer for dinner. I hand wash stuff nearly every night, thermie, kids lunch boxes, large Tupperware items, pots & pans etc. I don't like to put large items in the DW, waste of space & water.
-
Same as deedub.
Once a day, if that. I hand wash stuff nearly every night, thermie, kids lunch boxes, all plastic items, pots & pans etc.
After washing thses things, I then use the water left in the sink to rinse all our dinner dishes.
As we are running low of water in the tank I have to be extra careful with water usage. I am also fussy about what goes in the dishwasher. It is mainly cutlery (no sharp knives), plates, bowls, mugs and glasses. Anything else gets handwashed.
-
Boy those commercial dishwashers sure don't waste any time bluesed :o
-
DG dont they say the dishwasher uses less water
-
Yes they do Uni, but I will not do a load unless it is full. Same with my washing machine.
-
me too, i know ppl that will run the washing machine for a few items
-
With the price of our water rates here I am very frugal except when it come to my bath.
Gert
-
i know what u mean gert, i have to have the water running when i brush my teeth
-
I'm guilty of the nice deep bath waste of water too... :-))
As for dishwashers: I have 2 dish drawers but I only usually do 1 dishdrawer load/day for the 5 of us, I dont put my TM bowl in but do put the butterfly and spatula in. If I do alot of cooking I might do 2 loads a day or 3 loads in 2 days, but that is one of the huge perks of cooking in the TM - way less washing up!! ;D I also put it on before bed and empty in first thing in the morning, I am seriously grossed out by dirty dishes on the bench, so I love having the 2 dishdrawers...so much so that when we did our new kitchen (last July) my dishdrawers were the only thing I determinedly kept, there was no way I was going to 1 dishwasher... :-))
-
Yes Uni she does keep people in jibs, bless her.
I am a bath girl, everynight I soak in my hot bath in the winter, lots of foamy bubbles, sometimes a cuppa tea & sometimes a glass if wine ;D
H :)
-
We don't own a dishwasher. DH is ours. We wash up after ever y meal and I usually do a pre dinner wash up. If I am cooking I will wash up too, but with the TMX there is not really a lot to do.
-
Bath girl here too.
Dishwasher always full when used.
DH just been away 2 days and what a difference so I ran dishwasher less. The number of mugs he uses in a day plus 2 breakfasts, lunch, little tea and supper makes a huge difference. LOL
-
My DH handwashes dishes and bless him I think he is certified blind cos they are fricken fiilthy when I go to put them away.
;D ;D ;D ;D
Once a day or every second day. If I don't have full load then I just put the rinse cycle on.

When we first got married, we had a rule that if one person cooked, the other would do the dishes, and vice versa. However, over the years, this has changed to one person doing all the cooking (me) and the same person doing the dishes. Occasionally I will come home and find a stack of clean and partially wet dishes on the bench top (which has not always been cleaned) as he has "unloaded" the dishwasher. He seems to have forgotten what a tea towel is for.
It gets worse too, I was away for one night last Saturday, and he obviously emptied the dishwasher whilst I was away. My DD pulled two plastic cups out of the cupboard this morning, and in the bottom of the cups was a jelly like substance that was going mouldy. Eew! He admitted that perhaps he had put them away. I don't know if he got the clean dishes mixed up with the dirty ones, and put some dirty ones away, or what. I'll be checking the cups, glasses etc before I use them!
-
its funny now, but you must of have been >:(
-
ES it sounds like a conspiracy so he doesn't have to worry about being landed with the dishes again cos he's clearly showing signs of not being up to the job ;D
-
Thats my trick GP ;)

Its a similar situation in my house ES, except without the marriage part :P
I want a bath like Hally's :(
-
How many times do I......
Oh once a month if I can get away with it :D
Oops this topic is about dishwashers :o
-
I have a big bath at work.....
Tomorrow I am going to work to relax, shop is closed...
Robyn
-
I'm glad to hear the shop will be closed Robyn, hate for someone to walk in whilst you are having a bath ;)
ES, so how do you expect to find the dishes situation after your weekend away on the retreat ???

Oh JD, It will be a case of putting my hands over my eyes, fingers in my ears, and sing la, la la over and over again..LOL
If he has his way, they won't need any dishes as they will have takeaway the whole time! I left DH and DS alone for one night with a nice beef stew in the fridge on the weekend. They ate at a fried chicken establishment (no name needed) that night, and went to a bakery for brekky.
-
So you will be wasting your time cooking up a storm before we go over then ;)
-
Totally
-
Love my bath, its a spa with loads of jets. Jets on the bttom, at the sides & neck jets.
;D

;D ;D My husband just looked at this topic and thought something else.... ;D
i had to show him, it was about dish washers....
-
Show him the topic or the dishwasher or the 'something else' Obbie?? ;)
-
I had to show him the topic.... he laughed :D
-
LOL
Surely I am too new here to ask a question like that!
-
I'm so not showing my husband this topic...,apart from the obvious, our dishwasher is a source of many "discussions" in our house, I hate our dishwasher...it takes 2 hours and 40 minutes to do a standard cycle. The fast wash is only 40 minutes but doesn't was well enough for dh's liking. I keep threatening to bring a commercial one home from work.
-
2 hours and 40 minutes :o wt*
-
I normally use my dishwasher once a day.I'm the mug that stacks and empties it everyday.DH says that he can't stack it the way I do as I get twice as many dishes in it than he can :-))
Forgot to add it if broke I would replace it in an nanosecond :D

Yes mine takes 138 minutes on heavy duty , 108 normal and 31 on fast. And I agree that fast does not clean as well.
-
CC they are so necessary when us women have to do all the work - at least we don't have to wash & dry the dishes and can have a rest whilst the dishwasher is doing that job for us.

I'm wishing I had that luxury too... :-))
-
I'm just wishing that someone in my family would realize that the magical brownies who live in our house do not always have to unpack (and pack) the dishwasher! It drives me looney when I end up with a full dishwasher BEFORE a meal and then I either have to wash up or wait nearly three hours before I can put it on again. I've become very good at sneaking it on to a fast wash cycle when my husband is not looking.
-
I do fast wash 29 mins when just china and glass, and 80 mins with a full load of Pots and Pansand everything else.
I wish Judy I was resting while it was on but am either working, or in the garden, or on the farm helping, oh and my 3 to 4 rides per week of course.
DH grouses about electricity consumption a lot but never mentions the DW as he never does anything towards helping, so fairs, fair I think.
-
My husband does do the dishes, and the hand washing up too.
I keep cooking. :)
-
Sounds like good teamwork Robyn ;)
-
Didnt know that dishwashers were that slow :o. I have never had one and i dont recall ever to have used one ???
Anyway i always clean up while i cook so when i have had dinner its usually only very little to wash.
