This is a review from Tan 13/6/12
I made the melting moments yesterday - unfortunately there was nothing "melting" about them. They were rock hard.
I did follow the recipe so not sure if it was me or perhaps my oven.
Will give them another try perhaps.
They were OK dunked in a cuppa !!!
Hi everyone, JD here - You will find an amended recipe for these biscuits on RC
http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/marthas-melting-moments/46959
It would be appreciated if someone could try them now the recipe has been corrected.

Mine were the same as Tan's. Very disappointed with them, they're like little rocks and do not taste nice at all so I didn't even bother joining them.
Tan, was your mix all crumbly before you had to roll them? I had to spend ages squeezing them to get the crumbs to join together to form a ball. I really can't believe how bad they were.

yes - the mix was quite crumbly - i thought maybe i rolled them too much to get them to stick together - and that was why they were so hard??
They really were disappointing and most of them ended up in the bin.

You would think that recipes in this book are tested ???
I haven't been a fan of the chicken stroganoff or 60 second fruit cake (customer recipes)
-
I agree Maddy, there seems to be a few recipes that are quite average so far.
Tan, my mix sounds exactly the way yours was. When I had finished mixing the ingredients my bowl was just full of crumbs that I had to manipulate to try and get it to stick together. Mine are going in the bin too because they not only feel and look like rocks but they don't even taste nice.

Thank you got posting honest reviews. Far too often people don't post reviews when it does not work out...only when it does.
-
We certainly need to know when they don't work courton - that's what reviews are all about. I hate wasting money on ingredients if the recipe is a let down.
-
Completely agree JD and Courton! I haven't bought either this or the recipe community books yet and so its great to get an idea about whether the recipes are any good before buying

That's a tricky one, isn't it!
You really don't want to offend, but another factor is people's tastes differ. :-\
I personally would rather read honest feedback...mine included ;)
-
Maddy, isn't this the case for both positive and negative reviews...it is ultimately people's personal taste.
-
Absolutely.....at least we know Chelsea's recipes are winners, and Cecelia has raved about a couple in the book....helps relieve that sinking feeling IYKWIM :)
-
Apparently there are several misprints in this book and that's why some recipes are failing I,m a newbie and I regret buying this book due to the fact that the list that showed the errors has been removed from the forum but I do remember melting moments being one of the recipes
-
The list is still showing on my pages Connars nan.

Thermomix in Australia has uploaded the corrected recipe for Martha's Melting Moments to the Recipe Community:
http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/marthas-melting-moments/46959
-
Why not just put it on here Cecilia - many of our members have bought the book.
-
As per instructions. I would say JD.

I'm feeling adventurous today and I am not one to be defeated so I have a batch of the amended recipe melting moments in the oven... I will let you know how they turn out!
-
Nothing of the sort. Leave me alone, please - be grateful for small mercies. I was trying to help. If what I wrote is not good enough, I'm sorry.
What is that all about Ros?
-
And....
Success! They 'melt' in your mouth the way a melting moment should! I haven't iced them yet and I don't think I will. They're lovely just as they are. 4/5
To anyone that is going to make these, please make sure you use the amended recipe.
-
Thanks Mrs Thermo.

Good to know they worked out nicely. I'll make some tomorrow now. Poor little Martha...

Why poor Martha? Surely the mistake was not hers. Anyway I thought Martha we a grown up,teenager.. She should be very proud to have her recipe in the book.
Well done Martha I say. Everybody loves melting moments.

No, I meant poor Martha that her recipe was incorrect. She's listed as being 12 years old.
I'd be upset if my recipe was put into a recipe book incorrectly!

Yeah it a bummer but that was about 3 years ago. I think Marrha is around 15 now. Another bit of missed editing I guess.

I made these biscuits today using the corrections. I doubled the recipe which meant that I had to do a slight mix by hand at the end but they turned out great!!!! I did find that in my oven they only needed 17 minutes cooking time. Will be making them again 5/5
