I have offered to make a birthday afternoon tea for 25 people in two weeks time and am looking for a few suggestions.
I will be making a 2 cream sponges, a bimby chocolate cake, scones, chicken, bacon & cheese sausage rolls. What I am looking for is suggestions for a couple more small savoury type things and a couple of slices.
If anyone has a few ideas that would be great. Thanks.

JD has a frittata type slice somewhere on here that is eggs, pasta (vermicelli, although I use risoni) with corn and peas - I also add fetta and both fresh and semi dried tomatoes on top - these could easily be made into mini quiches. Hopefully Judy will know which recipe of hers I am referring to - unfortunately I didn't note down the forum URL when I copied the recipe so can't send you to the exact spot.
Any sort of sandwiches and what about those nut clusters (http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/node/17371) that paperfreak (?) - I am not sure that that is her correct name - has just unearthed off recipecommunity, they look easy and quick.

Marina, do you mean my Noodle & Cheese Slice? (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3526.0)
Mab19, I quite like the simple addition to a choice of finger food of a prawn sitting atop a piece of avocado with a skewer through both of them.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
aastarra there will be 6 children ranging in age from 18 months to 16 years ( she would hate to be called a child :) )
obbie are the thai fish balls the same recipe as the thai fish cakes from the seafood book just made smaller?
I like the sound of JD's caramelised onion & mushroom tarts.
Can't seem to find a recipe for Nigellas little lemon cakes. Are they on the forum?

Thai Fish cakes
Ingredients
500g skinless redfish fillets, bones removed, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons red curry paste
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 egg
1 teaspoon white sugar
4 snake beans, trimmed, chopped
3 kaffir lime leaves, spine removed, finely shredded
vegetable oil, for deep-frying
Dipping sauce
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup white sugar
1/2 Lebanese cucumber, deseeded, finely chopped
1 long red chilli, deseeded, finely chopped
2 teaspoons fish sauce
2 tablespoons roasted peanuts, finely chopped
Method
Make dipping sauce: Combine 1/2 cup cold water, vinegar and sugar in a small saucepan over low heat. Cooking, stirring, for 4 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes or until slightly syrupy. Remove from heat. Add cucumber, chilli, fish sauce and peanuts. Stir to combine. Set aside to cool.
Grease and line a large baking tray. Place fish, curry paste, fish sauce, egg and sugar in a food processor. Process until well combined. Transfer to a bowl. Add beans and kaffir lime. Stir to combine.
Using 2 tablespoons of mixture at a time, shape mixture into sixteen 2cm-thick patties. Place on prepared tray. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, if time permits.
One-third fill a wok with oil. Heat over medium heat until hot. Cook fish cakes, in batches, turning, for 5 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Serve with dipping sauce.
Sorry, I don't know how to link...
I just put in all in my thermomix and mix on speed 7-8, instead of food proccesor.
I make this a lot, always popular, mini snack size for nibbles.
recipe from www.taste.com.au
Thanks, Robyn

Yes, that's the one I mean, Judy (I must note this URL down on my hard copy for future reference). Love this for my lunch.
Didn't someone, possibly Hally, have an "afternoon tea" a couple of months ago? Maybe whomever that was will also get back to mab19 with some more ideas.

Thanks for that obbie. :)

What are snake beans please, and Lebanese cucumber?
Thanks.
For savoury things use either small crackers or make pastry bases. Make a short pastry (3/4 fat to flour) roll out, cut with small scone cutter, or sherry glass, bake on a baking sheet til done - cooked but not browned. No more than 2.5 - 3 cm diameter.
Blob or pipe cream cheese, hummus, dips or whatever takes your fancy then garnish with something that matches- smoked salmon, half a mini tomato, piece of cucumber, shrimp, crab, crispy bacon, onion jam etc. makes a really good looking plate, and is real finger food.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
I like the sound of JD's caramelised onion & mushroom tarts.
Definitely go with these. A winner every time. Young and old alike.
I get a request for these at least once a week and not just from family. At work my colleagues get me to make them for their parties etc. I always have them in the freezer.
Just one tweak - I do caramelised onion on the stove, less liquid than done in TMX.

Thanks Judy, as always so helpfull ;D

Thanks JD.
Lebanese cucumbers appear similar to Polish ones. LOL
