Does anyone have the recipe for the Nut Clusters that were served at the Perth Biggest Morning tea a few weeks ago?
There were hundreds of them on little plates along with the chocolate alternative and the cupcakes, but I can't find the recipe anywhere!
Thanks
-
I don't know what recipe they used paperfreak but check out this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=10173.0) recipe from ES recently.

Wow, you are very quick Judy!! Faster than the speed of light with your responses ;)
I'm sure you must be superwoman... :-*
-
:D :D :D No, just a normal woman like you Amy - only a lot older ;)
-
No, that doesn't look like them.
If this link works, this is the photo from the Thermomix Australia website:

On the day, someone said they were Luigi's 40 second biscuits, but they don't seem to be.
In their reply, they said they were Nut Clusters.
In the photo, it is the lighter of the two biscuits on the plate. They were little balls of something, with a hazelnut in the middle.
Hundreds of them were made by all the Perth consultants, so someone must know the recipe!
-
Strange name for a biscuit pf, nut clusters sounds like nuts mixed with chocolate hence the link I gave you. Even when I saw the picture you linked to, I couldn't see what I thought was a nut cluster. Yes you are right, a consultant will surely lead you to that biscuit recipe.
-
I may have the recipe but will have to hunt for it as I can't remember what they are called and I don't think it was nut clusters!!!
-
Would love the recipe Faffa if you can find it!
-
I don't know if this recipe (http://thermorecipes.blogspot.com.au/2007/06/june-thermomix-chocolate-alternative.html) is what you are wanting?
-
I don't know if that is the recipe she is looking for, but it looks delicious and I am definitely going to give this one a go.
-
Not the one CP, pf is looking for the cookie with the hazelnut on top.
-
oh, thought that may have been it cos it could be decorated with a nut on each square :( oh well, maybe faffa or another consultant knows exactly which one... it has really piqued my curiosity
-
I am sure I have it, it was a conversion from my GL just have to hunt it out amongst a mountain of paperwork, otherwise I may just email her ;)
-
could these be it http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/fruit-nut-chocolate-clusters/31150
-
Nope. If you check out the link pf gave, she said they were the lighter of the 2 biscuits on the plate. The chocolate one would be the choc alternative and the big one is the cupcake. pf wants the recipe for the one that looks like a cookie with a nut on it - by calling it an almond cluster (not pf's description but one of the consultants there on the day) it is throwing us all off on the wrong tangent. Just shows we don't have too many consultants posting on this forum anymore - those that were there must all know where the recipe is.
-
Just thought I would check back in and see if the recipe has surfaced yet... :( no...
There were about 30 odd consultants at the biggest morning tea, so hopefully one of them will know which recipe it was!
My consultant wan't there, but I will ask her anyway if she can track it down.
Hopefully someone in the mean time will produce it!
It definitely had nuts in it, but no chocolate. It was a light little ball with a nut inside it. On the day someone said it was Luigi's 40 second biscuits. Perhaps it was, rolled into a ball instead of a flat biscuit, but with a nut in the middle of it. Thermomix Australia although said it was a nut cluster, just to confuse us all!
I'll keep hunting.
-
sorry everyone, we have been without power for 24 hours, will email my old GL now. From what I can see of the pic, it was both the 40 sec biscuits and nut clusters. Will see how I go :)
-
Okay finally I have the answer back from Thermomix Australia.
Here is the recipe: http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/node/17371
Is this the one you used Faffa?
-
We are looking forward to your review of the recipe soon!
-
I'm so glad you found that recipe pf - have you made them yet
-
Ha ha, no, I don't have any hazelnuts... wonder if it would work with almonds!
-
If you have plenty of almonds, why not try it - the only way to find out ;)
-
YES that's them ;D ;D ;D Keep an eye on them in the oven as they burn quite quickly towards the end if you are not careful ;)
-
Oh my, they do sound very tasty ;)
Now that the recipe has finally been unearthed, I think I may have to try them as well!
I don't like hazelnuts though, so I think I'll try mine with macadamias :D
-
I made these yesterday and they were so quick - took less than 1 minute to make, then cook (or burn as the case may be in my oven), cool and drizzle chocolate over the top. You just need walnut sized balls and I made abuot 12 - 18 (I forgot to count them then neighbours arrived and they got eaten and given away). Anyway, they are a tasty, quick and easy nibble to make.
As for making them with other nuts, I'm not sure, I think you really need the hazelnut taste otherwise they could be quite bland, but it would be interesting to hear other versions. They may work if you mix some chocolate bits into the mixture as well, I think that would be nice.

given these ago now
with a few changes ;D
thanks PF for letting me /us know about these biscuits.
only baked 4, and ate 2
3 balls in the fridge and 1 ball in the freezer. Out of 1 ball i get 4 biscuits
-
What did you change, Uni?
-

Only used 120 of hazelnuts and 80g of almond meal
¼ cup of shredded coconut
Vanilla sugar
-
They look yummmm Uni darling :D
-
OOOOHHHH they look good Uni. Must make them soon.
-
anyone know what they should look like?, i cant tell from the FB photo
-
Not sur what they SHOULD look like, but yours certainly look much nicer than mine!
-
"Should"
I hate that word. It kills creativity :(
-
sorry amy
-
Don't be sorry Uni :-*
-
Sorry, but I think it's the correct word in this instance.
-
so when should you not use should
-
so when should you not use should
Lol I was half-joking guys. Don't worry :D
It is pretty restrictive though, if you say something "should" be like this or that. But thats just my opinion and I'm not trying to force it on anyone else, so I'll just stop talking right about now :-X
-
I understand where you are coming from Amy. If everything was meant to look the same, boy life would be boring. Be creative !!!!

I don't think I will make these - only 16 biscuits - is it worth all the effort? let me know
-
Hardly any effort at all, CP, and, if the oven is on, no cooking costs. It all takes less than 30 seconds plus the time to roll them into balls (or drop them in chunks on the baking tray if you use my 'technique' of not being too fussy).
-
GP it made 20 biscuits
last night i baked a few more but smaller and to day i will try the one from the freezer
i am planning the baby shower so trying out a few different things for a few weeks
the size in this photo would the size of a 10 cent p

Years ago a friend of mine had a huge poster on her wall with the instruction : "Thou shalt not should on thyself!!" . . . I've been quoting that for years . . to myself . . and to others . . . !! :D
