We are having a picnic in the park - I have Coronation Chicken palm pies and mini pork pies in oven, and tomorrow will do a Victoria Sponge, cupcakes, egg and cress sandwiches and jam drop biscuits. The children have put out the bunting on the front of the house with a huge Australian flag in the middle! The streets are all looking great. Happy Jubilee everybody!
-
Thanks bickie :-* Many houses around here are sporting bunting and are looking very festive. We're having a quiet time at home so no special cooking for me.Actually a bit of a crisis here,we have a blocked drain :o :o :o so DH is trying to sort it out :P :P :P :P This is going to very interesting :D :D :D

We leave Paris tomorrow and catch the train to London - arriving in the middle of all of the clelbrations. Hoping we can get a cab to our friends house without too much drama. :)

There is a huge water pageant on the Thames tomorrow Amanda if you are in that area to see it.Unpack your raincoat it's going to rain. :P

Happy Jubilee to all our U.K. friends. Queens birthday long weekend is next week for us in NSW.
-
Would love to be there instead of watching it on TV. Hope the weather shines on our gracious Queen. Enjoy all the celebrations.

To all our friends in England, enjoy the weekend. ( even those with blocked drains). Wish I was there. Plenty of TV cover here.

Hello everyone just back from great holiday in Wales tonight. Had to madly water plants in garden before even unpacking car.
Thanks for good jubilee wishes. It is a very great achievement. The second ever diamond jubilee in 1,000 yrsof monarchy.
Putting bunting up tomorrow and must go to supermarket to stock upon anything left after panic bank hol shopping!! Yes that seems to happen here in uk often. As some one who hates shopping I can't u derstand it.
Roast chicken tmro from freezer plus baking. Plus unpacking, tidying and gardening and ride pony, not to mention the WASHING!!!! And trying to watch a bit of the boat pageant on TV.
Got 2 sets of visitors from NZ on Tuesday ..... Typically all coming at once. Well one set for lunch and the 4 others to stay overnight and dinner. They do not yet know each other and may overlap, should be fun..... If a bit of a,shock after a break.
Cold sliced roast beef, flan and salads and new potatoes and achookwoman's choc delight plus strawberries for lunch
Dinner slow roast lamb, veggies, plus Queen of Puddings of course!! And UK raspberries if I can get them, may be too early.
2 young back from uni soon so cooking will increase hugely.
I think we are going to a local beacon at 10pm on Monday night but won't know until I ask around tomorrow.
Have a good one everyone, it really is very special.

DJ, I have posted a few English type puds on the Forum. Queen of Puds (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3372.0) is one. You might like to look at it. Also Shaker Quaker Pud (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3839.0), although i have just read another recipe for this in Australian Gourmet Traveller mag . and it is quite different. Glad you have had a good break away, ;D

Have wonderful jubilee celebrations over there from all of us! I love watching the royal family- we were glued to the TV for the royal wedding in April and we had a dinner complete with all 'the girls' wearing tiaras. Our English friend who was hosting the dinner made coronation chicken, cucumber sandwiches and Eton mess for us to nibble on during the TV coverage. What a wonderful milestone for HRH!

Have a wonderful jubille weekend. Woukd love to be on the Thames.
H :)

I find it all quite exciting. I've not seen anything much on tv but I'm sure I will. The queen certainly gained enormous popularity when she was here in the West last year. I likie William and Kate and think Harry is lovely too. I think the duke is rather nice too, I love it when he says things and stirs people up.
-
It sounds so much fun you guys over there in the UK. I love the Royal family too, well not all of them but I won't mention any names. I'm hoping to see something on the television, surely they will have a special programme at some stage? I wondered what the devil bunting was - the only bunting I know if is what goats do to you if you get too close to them ;) I take it you are decorating your homes? Have fun everyone and CC, I hope DH fixes the blockage or he won't be DH for much longer.

The latest edition of Gourmet Traveller is an English edition. Lots of nice recipes. Started a lemon pud one today. Converting to TMX of course. I would love to be in London. CC , you lucky ducky.
-
Have a great weekend of celebrations.
-
Just looked up Chookies Quenn of Pudding recipe.
Will be making it this week with frozen mixed berries so I don't go over $100 budget.
Maybe Robyn will give me a few lemons when we drop in for dessert?
-
Michelle, I would love to have you for desert, anytime drop in. I am always baking for the kids, my parents, and any one else. ;)
-
obbie, have you still got some of those lemons.? This new recipe uses lots. Will post tomorrow if OK.
The Queen of Pud recipe is nice with Lemon butter, any fruit, Tenina's Apricot Preserves etc.

one of franks many collections :-))
-
That's a surprise to read Uni - well done Frank.
-
really why JD ?
-
I don't know any man who is into the Royal family Uni.
-
frank is, big time ;D
-
I made chicken-cacciatore and rice pudding in my new (small) PC.
My son phoned me from the banks of the Thames in London. It sounded crowded and wet. I was glad to be watching it on TV instead. Good on Liz and Phil not to sit down at all. Not bad for 80's and 90's This ensured that everyone else had to remain standing as etiquette demands.
-
frank is, big time ;D
Where have you got them hanging Uni?

I still have 2 big bowls of lemons, from 8 big cartons.
Lots of juice in the freezer, ;D

Well we did it! Very wet - but we bravely waved our flags on the Thames and then scuttled back home for a bit of warmth and dry! I am still an Aussie at heart - couldn't stay out in rain for too long. Here is my Victoria Sponge - was too nervous after the mixed reviews to use the thermomix for the sponge - so used my KA instead and a Donna Hay recipe - in her modern classic cookbook. It uses the Genoise method - i.e. no baking agent - just lots of whipping of eggs and sugar and then folding in flour and melted butter. I was pleased with results but a bit dry - more to do with my new oven then the method. Hope all had a great day.
-
Looks very nice and festive bickie ;D Had a great day but watched the water pageant on the telly ;) ;)
-
The flotilla looked amazing. I woud have loved to have beenthere, Rule Britannia.......
Looking forward to the concert, hope you can buy the dvd :)

The concert was on this morning, wish I could have stayed home.
-

We enjoyed every minute of the Water Pageant, tonight the Concert. No one does it like the British. Wish I was there. ;D
-
I loved the wateer pageant too, it was truly amazing. I can't wait to see the concert tonight. I saw some excerpts on Sunrise too and WOW. (I only watch sunrise on holidays so that was great)
No TV for DH tonight, I will be choosing the programme.
-
Here is my Victoria Sponge - was too nervous after the mixed reviews to use the thermomix for the sponge -
no cream - what is that sparkly icing called?
It's a good excuse to celebrate and be out amongst the excitement.
-
The cream - I know! I realised when I was putting it all together that I had run out of cream. It was too manic by then to go out and get some - so we had 'war-time ration ' Victoria sponge. Last night when we finished it off - 'lashings' of cream! Agree about the concert 🎇 brilliant. So happy for them that the sun shone. Everyone hoping the Duke will be fine. Thought poor old Ralph Harris did well before they cut him off!
-
Just waiting for second visitors of the day to arrive.
Decided all cold food cos of timings.
Sponge with cream and strawbs in fridge.
Made 2 salads in *:, and 2 pull apart In *: followed folding method on you tube, thanks for that. This forum is amazing.
Used Isi s Portuguese roll recipe.
Achookwoman's choc pots a delight at lunch... How does one unconvert a recipe as was asked for it!
I guessed food processor choc, warm in pan with milk till mixed add gelatine stir well.
Still no tv, still gutted at missing bits, I player the next day not the same.
More tomorrow.

I watched the concert last night and loved it. The projections onto the palace were so amazing, especially the waterfall when the band on the roof played. They were great. Excuse my ignorance but who were they? DD is too far away to ask.
Watching the concert I even felt patriotically British and my heritage is mainly Irish.

You don't, you just give them the TM one and they can work it out ;D ;D ;D
-
I enjoyed it too Cookie, well mostly - some of it wasn't my type of music. Everyone was having a ball though and the younger Royals were really getting into the swing of it.
-
I didn't get to watch it. The Rugby was on and Scotland was playing, in Newcastle too.
On the bright side there was a very handsome streaker - Certainly a lot going on under that kilt. :o :o :o
-
Cookie, a great British band, Madness.
We didnt watch it all, but its taped.
H :)
-
Ooohh Michele, a streaker ;D ;D
-
gee mcmich you must have played it back in slow motion if you noticed he was both handsome and well ... endowed. Either that or he ran slowly :D
-
Replayed it several times CP.
He also made the front page of the Newcastle Herald.
Lots of workmates were at the game and apparently he did a fine highland fling.
