I know you named it. What is the name you chose and why?
Ours is Mildred. We had never named an appliance apart from one other, and that was our (George Foreman) grill, George. It didn't seem right to leave the poor TM nameless.
Having said that, poor George has been used exactly once since Mildred arrived on the scene.
-
Mine is called Rowdy for obvious reasons!! DH is not a lover of noise and I really thought he would hate hearing rowdy at work but he has come to accept it much easier than I thought he would. I just shut the lounge door if he is watching TV and I am about to crush ice :D :D :D
-
no name here :-\
-
Not very imaginative - Bimby
-
Maybe you could organise a prize for the most original name Thermomixer - we could vote on it ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? A bottle of that lovely wine maybe ;D ;D ;D
-
Mine is good old Thermie - but said with much love ;) ;D :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Maybe we should give out a prize for who gives Karen's the best name :D Because we all know it can't stay that way!
-
Good idea, it will get a complex being unnamed. It's hard to think up a new name, it just pops into your head for your own doesn't it. My daughter calls hers 'the machine'.
-
Renae as in walk away Renae because I can have a shower while dinner cooks!
What would the collective noun for a group of thermomixes be? I saw about 5 together at a cooking class and thought there needs to be a name.
-
A miracle of Thermomixes?
A raquet....
A dream....
he he he he... ;D
-
a clatter?
-
I like that one....clatter..good name!!! ;) ;) ;) :D :D :D
-
here, here :D :D :D
-
I do like clatter too :) :D
-
Mine is just called "The Thermomix". If you say it dramatically, it might actually sound like a name LOL. So yeah.. mine doesn't have a name. I used to have car I called "frog in the blender" coz it was green with red rust paint on it.
A group of thermomixes (thermomixi?) could be called a ROAR
-
Thermalena arrived in our house today!!!
-
Oh what a lovely name! I do love that! Thermamlina, how gorgeous ......just like her! Although mine is definitely a boy!!!
-
Mildred was "The Robot" for the first few days, but we thought TM deserved more dignity :)
I love the collective nouns, haha. How about a Blend?
-
maybe i'll name mine george to partner yours then rowy ;) ;D
-
Then they can start a family and you will get lots of little TMX's for free ;D ;D ;D
-
Hahaha I like that idea! Maybe they can start by producing a few spatulas, mine looks like Freddy Kruger tried to eat it!
-
Then they can start a family and you will get lots of little TMX's for free ;D ;D ;D
As long as they don't need IVF and a caesar - because I don't think you'll be able to get private health cover for them. ;) ;)
-
I thought I was the only person who had given their TMX a name. I thought it was so silly, so I'm pleased to hear that others have done the same. I call mine Termite. The reason being that the letters in Thermomix sort of remind me of the word Termite. Don't ask me why or how but that is how Termite got it's name.
I also favour a 'blend ' of Thermomixes/Thermi.
-
Think mine is going to have a gender and name change ;) to Jeanie - my wish is it's command ;D
-
Oh gosh, I have a TMX named after me.
-
I call mine Termite.
The French pronounce it termomix - without the "h" - so termite may have French origins ;) ;) ;) ;D
-
And I didn't even know that.........how clever of me. (not)
-
Mine is called Thelma. I hoped to get a second by selling enough & that one would be Louise - the one I take on the road to demonstrations. Think Louise will have to wait till next year now, assignments got in the way........ :(
-
<grin> How funny! I thought I was the only twit to name her machine . It is nice to know I am in a safe place with like minded people..........I am not alone!
I named mine Millie the moment I saw it :)
Very impressed that I can mill our wheat (etc)
Sandra
-
LOL - not sure that we are sane and safe to be around - but like minded. ;) ;)
-
Ours is the Food Robot. The 5 year old named it. I was watching the next series of "The Great British Menu" and the 5yo walked in and said "Hey, they've got a food robot too!" I was so proud of him. Was there any truth to the rumour that a TM31 was on Masterchef last week? I stopped watching when the person that I knew on the show left.
Happy Cooking!
K3
-
I hadn't seen one. You can watch the episodes online if you are so inclined. (If I had noticed it I probably would have started jumping up and down insanely). Who did you know on the show?
I love the name Millie for milling btw, so cute.
-
bump for all our newbies!
-
Also - how many boys vs girl robots? ???
Mine is a female robot - that's the place for females - in the kitchen....... OUCH , HELLLLPPPP - I can feel the daggers.
-

Good grief and it is even white to match all the other appliances too - I never thought of that before, just that it blended nicely... Now listen here Mr Thermomixer, you sure do like to get yourself in a lot of trouble don't you ;D ;D ;D
-
My Mildred is obviously a girl, but I am going to kick you anyway Thermomixer *boot* :D
-

ROFL - welllll he did ask for it ;D ;D ;D
-
In recognition of the brillant German manufacturing, our is named

Frau Thermo - alternatively, when she is being noisy I call her Dumperclumpen!
Regards
Jenny H

Dumperclumpen - love it, it just rolls off your tongue ;D ;D ;D
-
Well mine is called Darth. My husband walked into the kitchen and said it looks like something out of Star Wars and started calling it Darth Vader so we have shortened it to Darth or Darthy lol......
-
Mine is called Tim... as in TM - which is short for The Machine... ;)
-
Mines similar.....he's Tom. The star of my kitchen....going to miss him when I'm away this weekend.
Stacey
-
My partner named ours Mr T and as he says "pity the fool who doesn't have one." :) ;) :) ;D
-
Thir Mix-A-Lot
-
Mine's Heston.
-
My machine has been christened "The Whizz-banger". Although a girlfriend recently called it the orgasmatron :o . Love all the clever names you have come up with :)
-
Mines called "The Ripper" as in you little f**king Ripper.
-
LOL!!!
-
Mine is Thelma too :)
-
Hi My Thermomix is called Trixi
-
Mine is Henry.....
Not 100% sure why but...... Henry it is.
-
I named mine "the terminixer", in line with "terminator". I can turn things into dust, so it seemed appropriate.
-

Very appropriate! Love that name.
My mother named my Thermomix the 'Thermowiz' :-)) Because she always asks when eating my food, "Did you make this in the whizzer thing, you know the thermowiz?"
;D
-
Mine's called the "Bimbo" (not very original I'm sure) - my wife says I have to have at least one girl in the kitchen whose buttons I know how to press!
-
Priceless ;D ;D
-
Mine's called the "Bimbo" (not very original I'm sure) - my wife says I have to have at least one girl in the kitchen whose buttons I know how to press!
That's what MrsT calls mine when she not happy with the time I devote to it. :-)) :-))
-

At least it can't get you into trouble ;) ;) ;)
-
Ooh, the mind boggles.
I can just see the headlines now.
Thermomix cited in divorce courts as the other woman/man.
-
At least it can't get you into trouble ;) ;) ;)
You're right JD, but jealousy is a pretty powerful thing ;) :D
-
Called mine "Tempest".
..seemed rather apt! lol
-
I'm sure I posted a reply some time ago, but since I can't find it, I'll post again.
I call mine 'Timmy'. Not like the Southpark 'Timmmaaaaa', but little Timmy Thermomix.
-
I chose the German name "Ida" which means "hardworking"!!! Ida is 7 days old tomorrow and she has already earned her name!
Narelle.
-
I'm naming mine "Tuffy" after a MG TC I owned for just short of fifty years and sold last April because it has been a few years since I had been able to drive it (bad knee, stiff clutch) it was still in beautiful condition (fully restored in 2001).
While processing certain things on Turbo, my Tuffy makes the same sound as the MG did when downshifting on a steep downgrade!
-
Mine is Hermie, the same as my screenname :D
-
Mine is "My new husband" or "The Beast"
-
Mine is Kermie
It really does need a name doesn't it? Funny. :-))
-
And here I was thinking we were weird for giving it a name!
Originally we wanted to go with something German, but it turns out all we know is the nickname my favourite aunty called me as a child (and kitten didn't seem appropriate for a Thermomix) and swear words/phrases taught to us by a few exchange students and back-packers.
So somehow the name 'Stella' came to mind and was quickly agreed upon by family. She may be the new kitchen b*tch but in less than 24hrs has already shown herself to be a Star :D
-
...and I bet she doesn't complain when asked to cook something ;) ;) ;D
-
Still deciding on what to call mine! Somehow I can't go past the "bimby", so I think I will Christen it with the name "Mr Bimby". Sounds like something out of a kids tv show!
-
I seem to have settled on "Thor" - seems appropriate given he's the 'god of thunder'.
-
Our Thermomix arrived on Christmas Day. :)
We've called it "Jesus". :D
-
How appropriate.
-
Not sure if it is appropriate ?? but I'm not religious, so anything goes with me :-)) :-)) - is he your "saviour" ?
-
Forgive my husband's and my quirky sense of humour. :) We're not religious, but we don't want to offend anyone either.
It sure is our saviour in many ways - time and money and sanity. ;)
We laugh about how "we love jesus" as we're cleaning the TMX.. and it'll be turning water into rice-milk. :D (Which is more appropriate since we don't drink wine. lol)
-
I just love the names people have given their machines. I call mine TM but think of it as "Horse"... my little work horse... and it hasn't stopped working since that wonderful day it arrived. I think I haven't had the courage to call it Horse out-loud... so don't tell anyone :-X
-
How appropriate.
No disrespect meant to anyone-I simply thought Christmas-Jesus.
Apologies if I hurt anyones feelings or upset their beliefs.
-
I've called mine Betty because it is like having Betty Crocker in the Kitchen. :)
-
Betty - l like it ;D. l'm having trouble finding just the right name for mine. It has undergone a sex change since l started using it. :D It started out a him and is now most definitely a her.
-
It has undergone a sex change since l started using it. :D It started out a him and is now most definitely a her.
Probably because it can multitask. ;) ;) ;D
-
My husband wanted to call it Trevor or Barry the Bimby (he likes blokey names!). But my 4 year old has christened it "Mummy's Maker".
-
Exactly VHJ ! :D :D ;)
-
If you want to name something, always ask a young child - they come up with some doosies. Good one AmandaN :D
-
Hmm I will have to ask DS3 tomorrow what he thinks it's name is.....he will probably tell me 'It's called a Thermomix mummy' he has a very serious nature lol. I have named mine Stephanie (after Stephanie Alexander) as I love her book 'The kitchen Companion' and that is how I think of my TM. ;D
-
I'll tell her next time i see her. I was telling her about the TMX just before New year at a party. Didn't convince her that she should get one ;) maybe if she knows there is one named afte her it may change her mind ;D ;D ;D
-
Great Thermomixer , you can tell her I have three of 'her' in my kitchen, my TM, my cooks companion and my kitchen garden companion ;) ;D lol
-
Jesus just didn't stick in our house. It's Thermie now days!
Thermie has a more "I love this machine" kinda warm fuzzy feeling about it. :D I'm more attached to it every day! The more I use it, the more I couldn't live without it!
-
Well i am loving seeing so many cool names for your machines!!!
Because i am a little bit of a true blood fan i had to go with Bill:)
The kids love Bill as much as i do, and if we go anywhere and they have a Thermomix they say "look mummy, they have Bill too" cute:) xx
-
This is not so muh about a name I have chosen, but am curious as to why it is called a Bimby??? :-\
-
Related to the Italian nickname for a baby - bimbo. The machine was originally developed for baby food in Italy
-
Thanks Thermomixer ;D
I have yet to name mine, it might be something like cani as in can I do this or that lol
-
That's Italian for dogs :o :o ;D ;D ;D
-
how about chien (French), inu (japanese) that's ok I loved all animals ;D
That's Italian for dogs :o :o ;D ;D ;D
-
Sir Tim of Mixalot :o
-
Sir Tim of Mixalot :o
Very Good Jules. After all he is a knight in shining armour ;) ;)
-
She is Penny!
I have loved the name since my childhood (thanks to Inspector Gadget), also I love the way Sheldon knocks on the door and says 'Penny" three times on The Big Bang Theory lol. Hubby won't let me use the name on a child. So Penny it is.
:D
-
I love the reason behind it even more than the name!! :D Good onya! ;)
-
Perhaps I should name mine Sally-Anne then. As that's what I wanted to call my DD, but DH wouldn't let me!!
Mine is no longer Timmy, but Herman. Much more dignified. I also shorten it to Hermie on occasion.
I can't believe that Bimbo means baby in Italian!! And we call silly young under-dressed women bimbos!
-
Hi all, mine's called;
Herman Therman the German, or Herman for short. Had 'him' for 4 delightful days and life has changed for the better. :)
-
Snap - two Hermans in a row. Great to see others ideas. :-* :-* :-*
-
Well after months gone by my TM is called cani, and although it may mean dog it works on the same principles lol. Works hard, and needs little attention to keep it happy or running lol ;) ;D :D :o :-))
-
Hermes! But now we've got to know each other, I can call him Hermie! ;) :-*
Karen
-
I tell eveyone to whom I sell a TMX that the day will come when they give the new addition to their family a name. Well ,just heard back from one chap who's named his "Whitney", as in Houston; she's got a big voice and is great when entertaining. Perfik ;D
-
My youngest son named ours Clancy on Christmas day, for no apparent reason. This reminded my parents of Clancy of the Overflow, which to our alarm our children have never heard of, so my daughter looked it up on her iphone and read out the whole thing over pudding. I was surprised and delighted to find how many others on this forum decided to name their thermomixes and found many of the names very witty!
-
Jeannie ;D
-
I haven't got mine as yet, but is due any day. Not sure if it will be a boy or girl as I didn't have an ultra sound. So I will decide on a name when my new TM is delivered. lol.
-
lol, Dede! Good luck with the delivery!
-
my is boring old thermie (obviously short for thermomix) but it works for me as i have trouble and feel a bit ridiculous naming appliances hrrmm...must be missing that special quirky quality lol!!!!
-
My brother in law calls my Thermomix "the cyclotherm" so that name seems to have stuck. The name makes sense in a way, especially as I look like I'm in a cyclone when I'm in the middle of cooking, whizzing around everywhere!
-
I haven't named mine, but if I did it would be Edward (as in Scissorhands!)
-
Love it!
-
Whizza....
It's a 'Whiz' in the kitchen and it 'Whiz's' everything up in no time!!!
-
you are all so creative !! I haven't even thought to give the poor baby a name....it's just called Thermy......will have to get thinking ! ???
-
Well I have decided. Even though I haven't got my TM yet. Mine will be called The Kitchen B***h. or KB to be more appropriate. My Husband often calls me the kitchen B***h (Lovingly of course) So I am passing the name on to my TM. lol
PS (hope I haven't offended anyone)
-
your DH sound like my DH :-))
-
lol got to love aussie males and their endearing comments and names!
-
Glad Im not the only one. :-))
-
why was the woman crossing the road ?
-
Dont know. Please tell (or do I really want to know?)
-
to get to her thermomix?
-
LOL
-
I have yet to receive my thermie but have decided to call her Annabel as that is what my DH calls me. Duh my name is Virginia, I wonder who Annabel is or was?? ;D
I love all the names given. I would have stuck with Jesus too. I am religious but think that is too cool! Jesus works in mysterious ways you know. hehe
-
Thermominator as it makes me invincible lol
-
My poor TMX must be feeling unloved as it's just called The Thermomix.
And to think I tell the kids to be more imaginative when naming things!
-
Dont know. Please tell (or do I really want to know?)
do you really want to know ?
-
Have not got mine yet but have decided to call it The Lambourgini top of the range in performance and price, DH sees the irony in this as it will be a constant reminder how much it cost him :D :D :D
-
Okay, so I almost had a name today THOR....because I thought it was thundering again but it was just TMX cooking rice !! LOL
But no, it doesn't roll of the tongue very nicely....keep on thinking ???
-
I love the name Thor! Especially the thunder connection and I'm always a sucker for an ancient Nordic god! I reckon you could get used to it. My son named ours Clancy for no apparent reason (had never heard of Clancy of the Overflow, and luckily the thermomix doesn't, overflow that is!) and it seemed strange, but now everytime I serve something, the family asks "Did Clancy make this?"!
-
I call mine Thermoman, as in Superman or something, because he has superhuman powers .... ;D
Miss G
-
Sooooo excited! I just ordered my new Thermomix yesterday - and have his name all sorted .... "Arnie" ... aka "THE THERMINATOR" !!!!
-
I have a "Thelma" too... This is what one of my customers called hers & I loved it so much she said I have permission to pinch the name.
My Dad calls it the "Magic Bucket".. which has a funny story.. My M&D are very religious & do morning prayers together each day. One particular morning, they were thanking God for helping me make my first sale as a consultant & Mum forget the proper name, so just thanked Him that I sold my first Magic Bucket. They both got the giggles at this & couldn't finish their prayers :D (I thought this was very cute :))

Made me giggle too salval :D :D :D
-
Thermogirl
-
I've named mine "MAX" because of the maximum uses the thermomix has ! lol ;D
-
My son is a Star Trek fan, so calls ours the 'Replicator' since it produces food so easily, just like in the show.
-
I call mine Alice (the cook from 'The Brady Bunch' TV show. My 8 year old son wants to call it MMM - mum's magnificent machine :)
-
Mines Tom, my thermochef is Tim, and the Kenwood is Ken.....unfortunately I started a trend when I started ptouch labelling things in my pantry and now my "toys" all have name labels including the airfryer, dishwasher and a few other appliances (the fryer is fred and the dishwasher is will...that's when I confiscated my labeller from my teenage son....unfortunately not before he decorated my old laptop.)
-
well this is kind of convoluted, but makes perfect sense to me!!
He is definately a boy, secondly he is German and made by VorWerk - which translates to me as VW - the only other famous german VW I know is often referred to as a "bug" - so my boy is "BUGSY"!!!
-
Bugsy - love it! Mine was supposed to be called 'the wiz', but in reality it just get calls thermie, very boring.
-
Mine was Herman - just cuz Thermie Hermie - til DH started saying "Her-man" in a joking manner... think he was jealous, maybe? Now it's just TM, boring I know but yeah! ;)
-
Mine is called Alice B Toklas after the author of one of my favourite cook books. There is also an old Peter Sellers movie called "I love you Alice B Toklas" so now I can sing the theme song to her :D
-
I've called mine "The Therminator" cause it's so tough - Arnie for short :D
-
Mine's Heidi :)
-
Mine is called thermie too. I know it's boring but the name has just stuck.
-
A friend at hubby's work calls hers 'the Jesus Machine', because it can do everything but walk on water. She'd come to work and preach about the miracles it performed the night before. Almost the whole team (including us!) ended up buying Thermomixes! ;D
-
Thermie and Ken (kenwood) live in my kitchen.
Dull but true!
-
I call mine Thermione
(and apologies for posting this in the wrong place originally)
J
-
I can't imagine naming my TMX (I am afraid my DH would have a coniption fit laughing at me if I did), but if I did, it would definitely be Dobbie from Harry Potter.
-
I can't imagine naming my TMX
lol - I'm afraid my very non imaginative nature :-)) refers to it as "The Thermomix" lol
although my kitchenaid goes by the name of "Mum's Museum Piece" . . but it does get used . . . occasionally . .. ;D ;D ;D
