I need some ras el hanout spice for a new recipe I want to try and apparently you get it from middle eastern stores.
Does anyone know of any north of the river in Perth? or something I can use instead?
TIA

Tasty, I have this recipe for ras el hanout from Greg Malouf's cookbook
1 tsp cumin seeds
6 cardamom pods (seeds only)
1/2 tsp black peppercorns
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
2 tsp sweet paprika
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp saltq
1/2 tsp all spice.
Lightly roast and finely grind the cumin, coriander, cardamom, fennel and peppercorns, then sieve to remove husks. Mix with the rest of the ingredients.

If you wanted to buy online, IMO, you can't go past Herbies (Sydney)
http://www.gourmetgroceronline.com.au/Herbies-herbs-and-spices-at-the-gourmet-grocer/herbies-spices-n-r?page=5
or here is some more info on making your own . . but the one from Snappy would be excellent!

Wow, you guys are amazing. I didn't event think that this would be something I could make.
I will be giving it a go tomorrow but don't have cayenne chillies (one of the essential ingredients) so hopefully chilli powder will do.
This time I will try faffa's suggestion.
