Title: iPhone App for Thermomix Forum
Post by: Jad on June 17, 2010, 08:43:42 am
Hello admin,

I just found this cool little free add-on for forums such as this one that let you browse, read and edit message boards on your iPhone with great ease using the iPhone app Forum Runner. Do you guys have this installed?

sounds fantastic.  It would save me having to boot up my computer when I just need to check a recipe quickly (as I don't print any out).

I have an iphone but just log on as normal - it is my sanity when I am stuck out waiting.

Also use the blog reader to keep up with all my blogs as well. Time well spent sometimes  ;) ;) ;)

What ever happened to those times that we just sat and waited? I'm the same faffa. If I have to wait for anything I'm on the iphone....

Yeh I use the blog reader on my iPhone as well. It works really nice. But to have all these fine recipes on this forum in like manner, in my fingertips so easily, that would be lovely!

Jad you can access the forum through safari and log on just like you do on your pc and then just expand the screen to make it larger to read if you need to. For ages there, the only way I could get on the forum (time wise lol) was through my phone when sitting in Dr's surgrey's  :-))

I don't have an iphone but I do have a HD2... and I'm another guilty of being on the net whilst waiting for appointments..  and considering I spend at least half my waking hours at appointments... it seems I'm around a lot!  :P :-[

Oh yes this is long realized faffa. The iPhone app I am talking about though loads faster, uses less data as it doesn't have to reload the browser window again like safari does, and it is so much more user friendly than expanding the screen and all that, as cool fun as that is.

Check out the app for yourself. You can install the free version to get an idea of what it's like. Search in the app store for Forum Runner.

Hi, I downloaded the Forum Runner app for my iPhone but I don't see how to connect to this Forum - a Search using the word Thermo doesn't find the forum - can you tell me what I am missing please?

Regards,

Llyn

I use the tap-a-talk app for another forum I'm on.  Doesn't show pics unless you want and as per this one... loads faster.

Ceejay, what do you think of the HD2? Is it good? I don't like Apple anything, so refuse to buy an iPhone. I absolutely hate iTunes and how you can't synch your iPod on another computer without losing everything. So, I'm interested in a touch phone that isn't an iPhone. Then I can sell my iPod!

I have a Galaxy S and I've just installed Forum Runner on my phone, but a search for Thermomix forum comes up empty. Any tips on how to find it?

The Forum doesn't have this app set up yet.

Funny, I was reading my post earlier about me hating everything Apple. I am now a convert! I adore Apple everything and have a MacBook and an iPhone!!

DH and I were always Apple haters but are now complete converts too.  Having an IT background Apple and its ease of use was seriously derided but now almost everyone we know has crossed over to the "other side"  I would love, LOVE an ipad .... but I cant quite see what I'd use it for ... :-))

I better cut back a bit on my spending because as I've crashed my car, I'm kind of hoping that dh will buy me a new one ...  ;D

Unfortunately ForumRunner doesn't like the platform this forum is set up in.  They just won't play nicely together.

I asked MM to see if he could get the forum added to the App a few months ago and he tried, but found that it wasn't compatible.  If, however, we find a forum reader app which is compatible with SMF- Simple Machines then he will move on it right away.  Does anyone know of one?

The tapatalk website says they support SMF, so maybe this is the way to go http://www.tapatalk.com/plugin.php

Yes tapatalk does because the forum Zan was talking about is SMF and has tapatalk :)

Yep.  At the moment it seems to be the only one, but ForumRunner plans to include it in the near future (although 'near' could mean anything, of course!)

LOL snoozie, yep I run it on smf fine.
Personally I've only used the free version so can't post but others use the paid version.
I wouldn't say its the best app out there, seems a little buggy but personally I find it so easy to read a forum on.

Thanks Caroline!

Let us know when it's up and running! :-*

Well, I sent MM a pm about this, and after a couple of weeks I asked if he'd got the message ok.  He let me know that he'd forwarded it to the webmaster but hadn't at that point heard back from him.

I don't really like to ask him again for an update - even though I know he's probably just forgotten to update me - as I don't want to make a nuisance of myself.
