Delicious Journeys by Nico Moretti
« on: May 31, 2013, 11:27:33 am »
This is Nico's latest book and a lot of the recipes have both conventional and TMX versions side by side and a picture of most recipes.

The book can be purchased here.  Nico tells me that two of his favourite recipes for the Thermomix are the "Nico's Butter Chicken" and the "Pork & Fennel Ragu".

This is the index of the book - those which are not Thermomix converted are marked as non-TMX.  As reviews are posted we can link them to this list.

The recipes in this book are different to other books I've seen, there are lots of ingredients in most recipes but mostly they are ingredients we already have in our pantry.  Personally I think this book is great value, way below the cost of other TMX books and if you are looking to cook something different or want to impress your visitors then this is the book for you.  Some of the recipes are quite spicy as you can tell by the following index.

Thanks Judy. Do you have the book? Some of the recipes look nice.

I got given this as a Xmas present (it was due out a while ago but they had some delays due to printing or something). Lots of the recipes look really good, and like has been said, there doesn't seem to be a lot of things used that wouldn't already be in the fridge / pantry.

I think the first thing I will try to make is the Involtini de Melenzane - it looks like my kind of meal! Will let you know how I go.

Just making some Handmade Toasted Mueslie p31 from Nico Moretti's new book. Says to preheat oven to 180 degees and bake the oats and sunflower seeds for 30-40 minutes until golden brown and toasted.

Mine were what I would classify as burnt in just under 10 minutes. His photograph that he used doesn't even look like they have gone in the oven. Waiting for them to cool so I can judge whether I proceed to add all the other ingredients to this (and possibly waste it if its just too burnt flavoured) or just bin it and make a batch of Tenina's granuesli which is always nice. Doesn't that just give you the pips  :-))

Nico replied: "The temperature should be 160C (Fan Forced) for about 30 minutes, stirring them around occasionally so they brown uniformly. Alternatively, 180C (Conventional) for the 30 minutes should also work."

I was lucky enough to be given this book by four lovely ladies from Adelaide when they came over to Melbourne for CC’s lunch a couple of weekends ago.  I made the Sri Lankan Cashew Curry - with a couple of adaptations - I missed out the Maldive fish and, as I didn’t have Sri Lankan curry powder, I used my own instead (I think the recipe for this is on the forum somewhere).  This dish is really easy to make, delicious, tasty and (best of all) very fragrant - my mouth was watering before I had finished cooking it.

There are quite a few other recipes in there that I am plotting to make over the next couple of weeks as well and, if they are as successful as the Cashew Curry I will be delighted.
