Thai Fishcakes

Does anyone have a recipe for Thai Fishcakes?  I have trawled through all my Thermomix recipe books but can't find one - not even in the new 'Travelling with Thermomix' book.  If anyone has one, please could they let me have it - I need to make a starter for a dinner party tomorrow night!!  Thank you!

Thanks for that - just looked at the tweaks and they don't look too successful!  Did you buy the Seafood Bounty book in the UK?  It's not listed on the UK site.  Thanks again - I'll let you know how I get on.

what country are you in AK - I haven't heard of tht Travelling with TMX book?

I didn't ever make the one in the Seafood Bounty book, but use my own recipe, as yet, not converted to TMX. I'll post the recipe below,should be relatively easy in the TMX

2 large pieces good fish (I use Red Snapper)
3 - 4 Kentucky Blue or Ruby Lou potatoes
3 Kaffir lime leaves
2 tsp Red Curry Paste
1 diced red chilli, seeds removed for less heat
2 tsp fish stock powder (or 2 Tbsp fish sauce)
1/2 can water chestnuts, fine dice (or use celery)
2 Tbsp chopped lemongrass
2 Tbsp chopped coriander
grated lime rind

Boil and mash potatoes.
Poach fish in a little water with lime leaves. Turn off when nearly cooked and allow to cool in liquid.
Reserve lime leaves and chop finely (remove centre stalk)
Crumble fish into potato and mix with all other ingredients including lime leaves.
Refrigerate a few hours.
Roll into small patties and coat in cornflake or rice crumbs and fry gently in oil on both sides until browned.

Serve with sweet chilli sauce.


A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I have a recipe from a thai cooking class i did - let me know if you would like me to post it - its not a thermomix recipe, but they are heaven!

My recipe for Taud Man Pla

250 gms white fish in chunks
3 Tbs red curry paste (nam prik gaeng ped)
2 Tbs fish sauce ( Nam pla)
3 eggs
3 Tbs cornflour
1/4 Tsp baking soda
6 Kaffir lime leaves (bai ma-grood) thinly sliced

Put it all in the TMX  on 3-4 until mixed. I usually put it in the fridge for a bit then shape and deep or shallow fry.

 I originally got this recipe from Thailand the Beautiful Cookbook many years ago.
