It was delicious - thank you. We used skinless breast strips and deep fried them, and used 2tbsp spice mix to 1.5 cups flour - just perfect for us, but removed the coating for the little one. Not much of an excuse to get takeaway from this particular establishment again  :)

Served it with coleslaw, mash and some of Jaime's get ahead gravy I had in the freezer. Will have to check the forum for gravy recipes.

Your food looks lovely and tasty in the photo. Thanks for sharing with us.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

We're having this for dinner tonight. I'm not telling the kids what it's meant to be just telling them we're having chicken, wedges and veges. Want to see if they say it's like KFC. Can't wait to try it, it's all in the fridge ready to cook !

I'm having this tonight, too. DS's dad is coming up and is a KFC junky, so it'll be interesting to see what he thinks... lol. I have the chicken in the fridge at the moment sitting in it's buttermilk mix. And we're having it with chips made in the Acti-Frier. I can't wait for dinner!

What were the opinions of the KFC?

I love it, always do... DS's dad said he liked it, too. I just need to work out how to pan fry the chicken breasts properly. I've never been a frier, so I need to practice.

. I think the trick is not to put too much in the pan at one time.

The kids think it tastes more like KFC the next day lol. They all gobbled it up last night and loved it. They had leftovers for lunch at school today in a wrap with lettuce and cheese and all gone in their lunchbox too (which is rare). DH loved it also.

Also, I soaked the chicken overnight in buttermilk mixture and then did the coating about lunchtime, left in the fridge on a plate uncovered (in case cling film would stick to it), and in some spots it the coating went kind of a dark colour. So maybe I left it to sit toooo long, and an hour would be better ? When I fried them, you could see dark bits in places too, but tasted fine and no one else noticed.

I was also reading over comments again after making it, I used green cardamon, and somewhere Chookie you said it should be black (I already had green), would this make much of a difference ?

I made a double batch of the spice mix, so will make again soooon. I used 1kg chicken and we've had two dinners, plus kids lunches for school. I love meals that I can cook for 2 nights so I get a night off cooking lol.

Thank you so much Chookie ........

Deb,  thanks for the review.  I use black Cardamon because that's what I have.  Don't think it would make a lot of difference. Glad you could get several meals out of it.  I usually soak the chicken early and do the flour bit just before cooking.  Glad you all enjoyed it.

No Thank you Chookie, it must have taken you quite a bit of time to perfect the recipe ! So much appreciated.
